I enjoyed that over a plate of my home grown broccoli and a cup of tea , I think I would enjoy working there based on the banter alone , oh yeah and maybe the welding too! 😁👍
It’s a shame the old model mk6 & mk7 transits rust so much they were such good vans and good value back in the day , Renaults don’t seem to rust but arnt quite as good
Amazing weld on such thin metal. Would recommend the word welding in the tile as it's a great video and really helpful. Can you do some coverage on puddle welds? Who has a spot welder?
Goodness knows why Transits are so popular. They are nice to drive but are absolute rot boxes. I have had 3 of them and still have the Mk5. The build quality as regards rust is rubbish.
it would not have been more productive to replace the complete panel instead of replacing about the half by sections ? I had to do that on cars and I replaced the complete panel because the net result is much better and globally not more work.
Done a good job and it passed, I have done a fair bit of repair welding and always found it just ran away, each bit cut out just opened up more rust, I would have cut off the whole sill and repaired whatever rot was there, I understand this was not a restore just a mot fix, not my van, and not my weld, I like seeing the rubbish cut out and repaired.
It is always advisable to wear eye protection, AND when I was 16 years old (1968) I used to work as a Metallurgist and operate most days a flat bed grinder which had guards around. One day an older guy did my grinding job and switching off the grinder, reached over the guard to switch off the magnet bed, and pulled the slow moving grinder onto his little finger. He lost the use of that finger, so please.........wear leather gloves with a grinder or cutting wheel. Your flesh and bone is like a peach.
All transits should come with a welder and a diagnostic scanner . But we all love em still .

Glad I watched this. Am thinking about a few weld repairs to my own, was worried about neatness. I,m not now! 😂. After all it’s just a transit
Put the whole panels on
Great video.

Cheers and good point on the title.
Don't have a spot welder. Puddle welds just require good prep and the right power

No. This was minimum work for an MOT presentable vehicle ASAP
Helpful💚🇬🇧🌱

Believe me, I went back to good metal and this was not a restoration, but repair to MOT standards, with no 'shortcuts' which I see all too often!
Oh and it passed again a year on 👍
I think the whole sill should of just been replaced would of been a better repair
Better replace the whole sill
Whole sill wasn't available, hence stitching in repair sections
Most people buy a flat piece of metal and bend into shape. You bought a shaped panel and cut out a flat bit?😅
3 years on has it been crushed yet
It was sold and I believe it's still going, yes!
How much would all that welding cost that you Done
Four figures
All these years years of rusty Transits don't seem to bother Ford's.
