Can you explain why you didn't cut the outer repair panel straight across the outer swage line instead of stepping the repair panel. It would have removed a lot of the previous filler work! Just wondering
Every job evolves as you are doing it. If I would have gone further up. I could run into a lot more problems and run out of a panel very quickly. This was not a restoration.
because he doesnt know how to actually replace the panel, which is cut exactly how you said. this will make his life so much easier, the job will not take long. and it will be nice straight nad flush without filler. yet he doubles down and says, everyone else says this is wrong, but the whole world is stupid what do they know, they are only professionals, this is how its done, buy cutting a Tetris pattern creating now a lapping section, which would be not needed, if you didnt hack the flat section of the panel.
How does the thickness setting work when you were welding that panel? The original Transit panel is much thicker than that pattern part. Do you set the welder for the thinnest of the pair?
I realise it’s only a scabby old transit And can see perfectly why you would want to just bang a panel over the top Watch some bad chad work Where he will cut the panel and tack it in flush , no over lap
I was informed by our local garage that now all panel sections have to be seam welded as plug welding is not as per VOSA/DoT regulations anymore.! how would you get it through the MOT if it's not up to specifics
This past the test a couple days after I Also it's just past it's next test I am not in the uk so that does not affect me but I guarantee This will pass on the lip where I plug welded from the factory it was Plug welded Every single panel On every single vehicle is spot welded together So it makes absolutely no sense as it exactly the same as a factory job When you are doing anything to do with chassis repair. You have to completely welled all the way around A lot of modern vehicles are just glued together even some old vehicles like Land rover discoveries.
Love it, and nice to see you changing your mind as needed. Spot on!!
Thanks mate

They really are rot boxes, i thought my old mazda 2 was bad rust wise 😂, you do realise there is more rust on that
Of course I realize that lol
We all know secretly Leon wishes he had a transit instead of his vivaro
Lol I've got a transit With a cossie engine in it on my channel 😊

We don’t bother with any welding repairs anymore. For MOT etc
And sub the jobs out
Messy and time consuming
Plus a fire hazard in the shop
Oook Thanks for telling me
😂😂😂😂
