    Marciano was on a “no-lose” mission to achieving greatness and he did so by simply out-working and out-conditioning all fighting foes. His work ethic was nothing short of remarkably consistent and disciplined: hours of running, gym work, sparring, push-ups and sit-ups, countless medicine-ball thumps to the gut. Marciano was committed to his training regimen. Rocky is also remembered and honored for his class as an individual, not only his 49-0. He never boasted or ridiculed his opponents. Regardless what others may think, Rocky Marciano was a great champion.

      So Marciano threw 100 punches in a round? Lol give me a break. Number one Marciano only weighed 185. So even if he threw 100 punches in a round what would that prove? Why compare a light heavyweight punch numbers to a true-Heavyweight. Only sik-minded fanboys would even try to compare.

Pease tell me if he faced anyone who could punch with even close to the power of a Cleveland Williams, or a Sonny Liston, or a Joe Frazier, hell, even a Max Bear? LaStarza maybe??? He's vulnerable to criticism because of who he faced, which was just his poor luck. I haven't a doubt that he would have fought those guys if they were available during his time, but they weren't. I'll grant him this, there's NO ONE who had his level of stamina,... The guy was freak of nature as far as how much gas in the tank he had,... Rocky never got tired because he didn’t bulk up on steroids, that extra mass just detracts from your stamina.
    Rocky didn’t need to bulk up on steroids to have tremendous power in both hands.
    Why Ali said he didn’t think he could have beat Rocky, because he was better than Frazier who gave him lots of problems.

    This reminds me alot of the first Tyson Holyfield fight after just recently watching that. Marciano's crouch was more pronounced to the right side most of the time. I notice that after Tyson no longer had Rooney in his corner that his bobs and weaves became less balanced and consitent. In the Holyfield fight he was constantly crouching to his left when rolling and bobbing putting himself directly in Holyfields power range and was easy to time since he wasnt mixing up his defense. Marciano sort of does similar movements as Tyson during that era except he crouches on the opposite side. He also does other little things that Tyson didnt do like grabbing arms on the inside and with his shorter arms was better in general on the inside than Tyson was. I wonder what a Marciano- Holyfield fight would be like. It would be somewhat similar to this fight because Holyfields is like a more modern carbon copy of Charles as far as his style is concerned. BUT hes bigger stronger was better on the inside and had a better chin than Charles.

    Swinging wildly against a bunch of light heavyweights moonlighting as cruiserweights is one thing. • @bryanwhitton1784
      @bryanwhitton1784 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      I kind of get tired of this argument that Marciano couldn't compete against a modern day heavy weight. I mean, so what. These modern day heavy weights couldn't have existed back then either. The USA had just had a ten year depression where just existing was difficult. No one was over weight and it wasn't unusual to not eat meat for days and weeks. My dad's family lived on a chicken ranch when the depression was in full swing. They had chicken every day for 3 years. To the day he died in the late 80's my uncle wouldn't eat chicken. They could afford to buy food and no one was buying their chickens.
      Then they went through WW II. That is what many of them were doing so their careers had major gaps and continuity issues. Rocky didn't start fighting pro until 1947 and 23 years of age. He was an old man when he started.
      You simply can't compare boxers of different eras. It makes no sense.

      Don't know what highlight you watched, Ezzard demolished him here. Racist judges and Mafia behind the scenes pulling strings to make Marciano win. Truly awful fighter.

      @@lilsavdabest It's obvious that you don't know how to score a pro bout. But Ezzard is the only man to go the full 15 with Marciano, and that got him a rematch whereas he got ktfo, I suppose that was bought too.

      @@Boxrec297 I know more about scoring than you ever will. I have the MMA and Boxing judges PDF's on my computer and I am currently working on becoming a judge for the state of Washington.

      @@lilsavdabest Well then tell me sir, what is the criteria for scoring a pro boxing match? You can look it up and get back to me, and I'll show you the error of your ways. btw, I boxed for a few years and am intimately familiar with how an amateur or pro bout is scored.

    Looking at this footage, it is hard to imagine either of them beating Mike Tyson in his prime.

      Yeah, I agree, during that not quite two year period at the beginning of his career, Tyson was a monster and he was just too big and too strong for either of these fighters, which isn't to take away from either of them, but THAT Tyson was incredible. What a price he payed for being that way though, he never says he was happy in those days,...
