    I both agreed and disagreed with "Don't charge hourly". For large scale project that can extend a few months, even years, there's no way to estimate the scope of the whole project. For the works that fall in this category, I simply put the tasks and estimated hours in a spreadsheet. Clients trust me so I just enter the numbers that make sense to them (and to myself). But I agree that for projects with fixed scope of work like landing page, charging per project is the way to go.

    • @KaYungCalebLai
      @KaYungCalebLai  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      The idea behind that is to charge for the work that's done not the time you've spent. You can put 10 hours estimate for a particular task ($500 for example), you're defining a smaller scope and still charging per project imo.

    How much do you make as profit? Given $250k after you pay other contractors and business tools and subscriptions etc.
    What do you think is the maximum you could make all on your own before having to hire anybody?

    • @KaYungCalebLai

      Good question.. for the contractor part, it was about 15k. So quite a big chunk take home profit.

And this "course" you're talking about doesn't even make up to 0.1% of my income. Yes, many designers have a sub 40k salary, but there are also designers making way over 200k, so what's the point you're trying to make here? That's just how the world works, way more poor people than rich. Your mindset is what keeps you in the 40k reality. It's not my job to change your perspective so I'm just gonna leave this convo here.

I don't need to show my bank account to prove to the world. Check out Flux on youtube, he's making over 300k from his freelancing biz, it's really not that uncommon. Also check levels.fyi to see how much people in tech are making. It should widen your view on money a bit more. Also I'm not on reddit.

    Hey Caleb, I am just starting out and it would be really great if you could provide me a dribbble invite if you have one.

      Does dribbble still need invite? The guys there now just want cash. you should be able to pay them to use the site.

    I’m in my second year of graphic design at my uni. I never liked studying, especially when I work so hard on projects and am not getting paid. it makes it hard to put a value in my head of my own work and I’m afraid I’ll end up not getting any bidders for my work once I finish studying. how do you determine the price of your work, and does it usually depend on your portfolio wether people will be willing to pay?

      If you're just starting, don't charge anything less than $50/h. but of course, you'd need to have the level of skill that's tradeable.
