Thanks for the info Peter, I have a 2021 Tundra, I may not change the oil myself but its good to know how it's done, however I will get the Filter wrench and the filler,. There should be a door in the skid plate for changing the filter.
I bought a brand new 2019 Tundra SR5+ 4x4 DC 4.6L for $34k Canadian, or $25k US dollars. I got $11k off in incentives. It was the smoothest vehicle I had ever owned!!! Unfortunately it couldn’t tow my 3500lbs trailer. It just wasn’t geared right.
Petr, It is always reassuring to see a Tundra/Sequoia 4.6 V8 that runs on Regular and produces 310 hp as opposed to the Lexus GX 4.6 that produces only 301 hp with Premium 🤨
Hi Petr, what in the heck kinda oil filter is that? What a pain in the butt. Why are they doing that? A 10 minute oil change is not a driveway job anymore 🤦🏻♂️🤷🏻♂️thank you.
Yes, instead of a simple spin on oil filter you instead get an environmentally friendly breakable plastic housing plus the joy of spilling used oil all over yourself and your driveway that eventually ends up in the storm drain.
I love these V8's and absolutely "No Turbo" to over work and ruin the engines. I get pretty excited when I don't see rust eating the whole under carriage of the vehicle. I live in the Midwest and there is not much of any vehicle that isn't consumed by RUST🔥😡
Those plastic caps sometimes are not going to turn without a 1/2" breaker bar. It has nothing to do with the final torque. I believe they oversized them from the factory. Probably afraid it would leak or accidentally vibrate loose. I could not remove or install mine without a 2 foot breaker bar. The $14 aluminum caps are a must. Sorry but I was going behind the factory guys. It's also why the dealer WILL not touch your oil filter. That's right . The engineers and a practical common sense guy need to have a talk.
The only time I've ever had a problem with over tightening is when the dealer did my oil change. Other than that it all comes off fine when I torque it at 18ft lbs. However, now I have purchased a metal one so that I don't have to worry even if I have the dealer do it.
Can you just get rid of the skid plate I mean what real purpose is it there for. I'm not going to pay a shop 60 80 bucks every 5000 miles for a oil change.
@@TXAG81 I wouldn't pay someone to change my oil. I've changed my own oil for 47 years but I really don't want to take a skid plate off in my driveway every time. I was asking a question, dose it really need to be on there ??
@@steelerbus7 I removed my OE plate and replaced it with an aftermarket plate by RCI. Much heavier duty for Offroad use and has a small removable plate (2 bolts) to access the oil filter housing.
I must say, that I like this light better than the other light you used to have. It looks more natural and it makes the video more vivid.
I have a 2013 Tundra 4.6 with 133,xxx - I would love more content regarding that specific model/engine size. Thanks for everything!
Super helpful vid. Heading to buy a used 2010 Tundra today and plan on changing all the fluid and filters asap!
Thank you Petr. I appreciate the simple things done well like an oil change. There’s always something to new to learn.
Thank you for posting this content! I recently purchased a 2013 with the 4.6 v8.
Peter, you always have the right groove!
Thank you Peter.
Time for a kraut break. Looks like it finally stopped raining.
Wish I could have seen the way you squished the o-ring. I usually just use a pick or small screwdriver. Whichever is convenient
Does that funnel fit other Toyotas?

I'm now at 756,000 miles on my 4.6 buy transmission failed at 730k.
What is that dark spot on the oil pan? Up by the 10mm bolts that hold it in in the front part..
That was another great video
Thank you for the informative video my friend. Cheers, Peter. 🇨🇦🇺🇸

interesting, thought by 2019 canada only sold 5.7 tundras
@@elai3147 2019 was the last year for the 4.6L in Canada.
Love the tundra
Does the 2010 4.6l come with synthetic or conventional oil from factory that year?
0w20 full synthetic
That was a good call with your wife. Because you could still tell a joke after :D
Where can you buy that fancy oil funnel?
Amazon , eBay , NAPA
You could even try cutting a mobil 1 bottle in half

👍
Peter I use the Kirkland Brand Full Synthetic from time to time. Good Oil from COSTCO.😎😎😎

I’ve got a 2019 Tundra and Toyota really dropped the ball on hiding the filter under the skid plate…ridiculous.
It's not a big deal.

turbos dont over work any engines, they simply offer more air so the engine can breath, your truly are a jvckass

Hello friend!!
Black gold texas tea.
I would have cleaned, sanded, primed and painted that rock shield while it was removed if this were my truck. Just saying.....
That rock panel removal just to change the oil filter. Ridiculous. thank god my oil filter is on the top of the engine.
