Also a quick tip is never use nothing to tighten up your oil filter. Been a mechanic for 30 years and the best practice is always hand tight. For one tightening to tight can mess up the rubber seal and secondly the next oil change it will be alot harder to get off.
This was very clear, simple, and helpful! I would love to see more service vids like this of the Z900. Thank you!!!🙏
Will do 👍🏼
Z900 is a godsend we all got different levels of busy lives but when you can oil change right before you gotta leave for work that's saying something about the ease of use still want a Z1000 but out here where there's mostly Harleys Aprilias and Ducatis my town the Z900 stands out well
@@darthtyranus7683 yeah my friend is telling me how much of a pain it's supposed to be on his CBR I'm like what
Quick 5 cents here
Remove the oil filter while the bolt is still out. Then put the bolt back in.
✌️😊
Thanks for the tip! Is there a specific purpose for doing this?
@@AndrewHartsock it doesn't really matter which is first. A lot less mess draining the pan before removing the filter. I've always removed the plug let it drain for a bit then remove the filter before installing the drain plug that way you ensure you get the most oil you can out of the engine because you still have a bit of excess oil in the filter and in the chamber area. But whatever works best for you everyone has a different way of doing things and as long as you have fresh oil and filter at the end of the day it's a success.
@@AndrewHartsock Yes there is... you also should remove the oil fill cap too.. It allows air behind the oil to force more oil out.
relieves vacuum
Thanks for the video! Going to look at picking up a z900 this afternoon!
simple yet direct thanks!
Great Video Andrew, fella z900 here. I recommend Motul next time. Try it for a change !
Nice video, I'm about to do the oil change for my 2021 Z900 and your video helped me a lot! Pretty straightforward!
Yessir 👍🏼
Nice video Andrew.. thank you.
Pls create videos on periodic maintenance as well
Oil filter wrench is I've always known them as. Great video looking forward to more. Love the bike very good choice👍
Is that a standard washer or a crush washer? My R6 uses a crush washer thats why I'm asking.
gorgeous machine
Thanks for watching 🙏🏼
I’d love to see a throttle cable adjustment video
Oil capacity on z900 is 3.8 liters, not 3.8 quarts. 3.8 litersis exactly 4 quarts so just can just dump 4 full bottles in there and call it a day.
Nah bro you super wrong. The manual literally said 3.8 quarts which is 3.6 liters when change oil with filter, go and check for yourself
Hey bro nice video! Can you do the clutch and brake cable adjustment? Thanks!
Yes please
I know how to change the oil but this is the bike i currently want so i just click watch when i see it. Good tutorial anyways 👌
Thanks !
I tighten my drain bolts to exactly one "ugga dugga" lol
Thanks Bro
Was it on a bike stand when Check Oil Levels?
Bad advice. Don't ever tighten an oil filter with the nut if one is fitted to the filter because it may leak if the spot-welds fail. Only use the nut to help loosen the oil filter when replacing it. Some bikes may get oil on the tyres if the oil filter leaks.
Seen lots of others do the same thing I did. But your statement makes sense. Thanks for sharing!
@@AndrewHartsock The following is taken from the FAQ of K&N, Oil filter section:
( "- CAN THE NUT ON WRENCH-OFF® OIL FILTERS BE USED FOR INSTALLATION?
No, the nut on Wrench-Off® oil filters cannot be used for installation, as doing so may cause serious damage to the filter. If you attempt to use the nut to tighten the filter on installation, you may end up over-tightening the filter or causing damage to the spot welds on the filter-which could result in cracking and leakage while the filter is in service. The nut is intended to be used for convenient removal only." )
I love that hex keys are mentioned and shown but literally never used
What brand rear stand is that? TY
Thx
Why you do the Service ?? The 1. Service Must be do from Kawasaki because the Warrenty. Also you dont get the Service sign in your Kawasaki Service Book. I do t get it. 😮
I’m not 100% sure that it voids the warranty, but I haven’t had any issues in many years of doing most of my bikes services by myself. Plus I just enjoy doing it
nice
😮nice job body...also beautiful motor..enjoy bro❤
Anybody know the torque value for the drain bolt?
is warranty valid if you service by yourself?
If you keep all the receipts for the parts and such that you use and document that it should be more than sufficient to maintain the warranty.
To be honest I don’t even know what warranty coverage I have 😂 never look until I need it… lol
Use a torque wrench and a new sump washer unless you want to have to fix a stripped sump plug socket.
What? Lmao.
Don't be an idiot and be gentle I've never needed a torque wrench changing the oil on my Subaru
What’s the torque value for the oil drain bolt?
@@jacknelson4919 don't know but I'd suggest searching Google for a workshop manual which will tell you that and a lot of other good stuff.
That's the easiest oil change I've ever seen lol no fucking way I'd ever pay a shop to do it.
It’s called an oil filter wrench
Why at 500miles seems so soon
1st service is to change the running-in oil.
Thats always the case with a new vehicle.
After that normal oil is used
Noooooo...you must use a torque wrench to adjust the oil screw!!
An oil filter wrench... Lol
I'm just curious why tell someone go to auto zone get oil.. visit your local kawasaki dealer... no kawasaki dealer auto zone won't sell u a z900 next time
