But now I have learned the "Auto Square"-Thing...and I damn´ like it... :-) I´m adding this feature to my machine, that´s for sure. So thanks for your Video, it was inspiring and helpful! Hey man, love the video. im just wondering about your lcd controller board. I see that your movements are so smooth one click of rotation actually moves the menu by one value, mine always jump by value of 4, when i move my z under the 0.1mm option can only move it by 0.4 as i said the encoder always registers 4 clicks for one turn. thanks
Hmm, I’m not sure about that one...I bought the ramps and lcd controller board straight from v1 engineering and installed the firmware and everything straight from the website...I didn’t have to touch anything for the lcd controller...here is the page for the controller and it has a link on the page to flash the firmware shop.v1engineering.com/collections/parts/products/full-graphic-smart-controller-big ...not sure if that’s the issue, but that’s the first thing I think of off the top of my head. Hi great build! i am currently printing the last parts for mine. I was wondering why are you using the controller board to cut rather than straight from the pc? Is it personal preference or is there some kind of benefit to it? I ask because i was planning on using an old laptop or pc to control it.
Sorry for the late reply..there was an ongoing bug at the time that I built mine...if running longer code from the computer the USB ports on certain computers would time out. Therefore killing your job right in the middle. I dealt with this tirelessly with no resolve. I did all the stuff that people suggest, like turning off the battery saving frature in Windows that will shut off USB ports when it sees them as inactive. Finally i just went to using the controller and saving the code on a SD card. This fixed my issues so i just stuck with it. Many people didnt have this issue but i know a few did. Thanks, Andy

I see.. im definitely preparing for quite the ride with the electronics. i can do the build just fine but still feel like a caveman sometimes when it comes to software and electronics even tho i built my own pc lol, i guess maybe im overly cautious so thats good to know. I wont expect too much from the laptop and might just get the controller but out of curiosity did you ever try using the uc-100 cable connection when you tried the pc connection? i got a link for a video i found on it but i read it was supposed to solve the data transfer issue with cnc's. th-cam.com/video/45FEJhN70hA/w-d-xo.html Thanks for the response
Springfield MO is where I got my tubes, at a metal supplier...I bought it in 20ft sticks...speedy metals is the cheapest place I found online, and there custom cutting isn't too bad.
Mine are PLA, and so are many others...the motors get warm, but should never be hot enough to affect PLA. The kit that V1 Engineering.com sells is PLA, which is the originator of the design. Thanks, Andy
Very late reply, sorry for that...it is a 20x25 cutting area...the spindle I am using is a harbor freight trim router...these are very cheap and you will see many people say that they are junk and have a lot of runout. Mine is not one of them. It has been really good to me. Mine doesn’t have a lot of runout, it’s plenty powerful, they are cheap, and they are really compact.
