Frodo's smile at the end always gets me. Is that feeling of reassurance when you have somebody you love is leaving this world, and is happy that you were in their life and now are going to a better place.
From what I understand, Frodo's wound from the Morgul blade never healed, and for four years, on the anniversary of that incident, he would feel its presence. That, plus the trauma from being the Ringbearer was too much for him, so he was granted passage to Valinor, where he would reunite with Sam at the end of *his* days, since he carried the One Ring while Frodo was captured in the third movie.
Sam never finished the book, because he had too much love and respect for Frodo and didn't think he was worthy to do so 😭😭😭😭😭 The thought alone of them reuniting in Valinor is heartbreakingly beautiful 💔 Whole LotR love ♥️
Sam actually eventually joins frodo in the undying lands many years later after the death of his wife Rosy Merry and Pippin, on the other hand, would eventually rejoin Aragorn in Gondor, and after many more adventures would be laid to rest next to Aragorn
I’m admittedly not familiar with the lore, so my apologies, but why does Frodo leave (or have to leave) at the end of the movies? I’m just confused as I don’t know why
Gandalf and Saurman were actually divine beings who had been sent to guild the people of Middle Earth in their war with Sauron. That's why Gandalf was able to come back from the dead after his battle with the balrog. He work was done, so he was going home.
Frodo couldnt return to the Shire as he is so completely changed. The Mogul Blade wound will never fully heal, nor will the PTSD from the burden of being the ring bearer. Too many reminders of what he endured. If you read the books you find out more, including reunions with a "few" fellowship members in Valinor (where he is sailing to).
It's funny. After traveling through Middle Earth so many times in the books, I can see this through Frodo''s eyes. The Ring won. Frodo lost. If not for Gollum (a bigger Addict) Frodo would have tried to keep it. Sauron would have gotten it and all would have ended. But I'm not sure that even Sauron could have really controlled it. Frodo is beaten and knows that he let them all down. Sam knows this too. But he wants to have his friend.

Gandalf: I will not say, "Do not weep..."
Treebeard: Break the dam! Release the river!
Into The West is such a emotional and powerful song
Gandalf: "I will not say do not weep, for not all tears are an evil"
I'm pretty sure he's saying that to the audience

The music makes this scene even sadder I cry every single time 😢

Elf heaven, basically. Frodo was dying.😪
Sam had his own family, too.

Valinor the Elvish Homeland passing the Sundering Seas
It's the land of the Valar actually. But the Elves reside in Valinor as well.
