- After playing a ton of HD2 bots over the last 2 weeks I wanted to update my tier lists for the NEW SUPER HELLDIVE difficultly + new enemies!

My dude, when you find yourself saying "this needs a buff to be good," put it in the "needs a buff" tier. No no way is the Spray & Pray in a good place.
Little advice for youtubers, if by chance they get a good weapon in Helldivers..... ALWAYS put it in F super garbage tier, if a Helldiver developer see a weapon at C or higher they will nerf the shit out of it.
@@DARKCOP2011 Yeah, that's why the AC has been nerfed 3 times and the scorcher is unusable now.
I think the idea behind the needs the buff tier is that it’s for weapons that need a buff to be remotely playable. The further implication is that all of the other weapons besides S tier technically could use buffs in order to bring them up a tier or two.
That said, the tier is a little confusingly named.

I've explained it a couple times but I should be more clear it seems. Something in the "needs a buff" category is just straight unless without a buff. Also ive explained a few times anything in B tier or lower isn't in a great spot and needs some help, all guns ideally would be similar to A tier weapons or even some S tier!
Nice to see a TH-cam doing helldivers content that isn't just hating on the devs or calling the game dead

I absolutely agree with you on the scorcher. I still think it's good but the rocket striders are truly the problem now on lvl 10 missions. That addition is a substantial indirect nerf to the weapon.

I'd like to see of them buff the servo assisted armor to also increase reload and bolt racking speed. Would make the eruptor more usable and QOL for support weapon reload. Or to add a new armor perk on its own
Yeah I guess because the robot arms have programmed muscle memory
Or maybe it allows you to carry more ammo. Like the engineering kit but for ammo, since you can carry more weight because of the exoskeleton

I'm subbing to you purely because you're straight to the point and fair but most importantly you said Mag as in Magazine for fictional future guns based on IRL guns. So many TH-camrs and just people in general still call Mags Clips like everything is a Bolt Action Rifle and uses Stripper Clips. I don't expect people be knowledgeable in guns. Nor get mad or all bent out of shape if they say clips. Some people just don't know the difference and many others just don't care. Not a big deal. One can learn and the other doesn't care. It's just nice when someone is and uses the proper words.
Not here to argue with anyone. Just my opinion and something I like when people do that's all. Not that deep. I feel I have to say this because we can't have opinions anymore without someone wanting to verbally joust "Well actually" or just go ballistic on you for saying what's on your mind.
That D tier smoke grenade is outright criminal. It stops tanks, turrets and gunships from shooting because unlike other bots they don't have a 'fire in this general direction' mode. It works almost like a stun on berserkers except they will just stand there for the duration of the smoke because they can't see you so they don't run for you and the amount of times i've been able to cover a teammates retreat or my own by throwing smoke and running with it between me and most of the bots is insane. Bring a railgun and a supply pack and just chuck those babies everywhere while you clean house, they're amazing.
I'd still put S&P and lib pen in 'needs buffs' because there is literally no reason to ever bring them in the state they are right now. Otherwise solid list and breakdown. Good to see the purifier get some love, i love running fire support with that thing and there's a rythm to bring it and the railgun that's really nice.
plas punisher is very good at what it does but the ammo eco on it is not great, only 64 total shots is not enough for super helldive devastator spam
The scorcher for me has dropped significantly as you said for two reasons: the existence of the new rocket striders and the gunships now being easier to kill. A-tier. Previously S
something people never mention for the diligence CS is the amazing stealth factor, especially since this update's release. it has a very low sound profile compared to other weapons and the fact that it can 1 shot devastator heads as well as now the new rocket striders if you hit their rockets, allow you to clear out an entire lightly populated objective undetected or at least cut the enemies down to just a hulk or tank. its amazing. pair it with the AMR and now you have the stronger one with better pen for the more intense gunfights as well as something to quickly 2 shot the hulks and mag dump the tanks your CS couldnt handle. i think this weapon combo is highly underrated as it excels in stealth and range and does extremely well in full on combat

I was in a level 10 bot mission the other day and one guy was sniping bots over 50m with the bushwhacker. It was crazy.
Nah, slugger is C+ B- tier. The actual bullet spread now is atrocious, and hitting a devastator head past 15m is literal luck. Its good point blank demolition of devastators, but its even unreliable against troopers. Ill aim center mass, and the fucking slug hits the guy in the arm because it shoots so damn crooked. It was better without the stagger but with the accuracy.
I don’t understand why they increased the spread on a SLUG shotgun. I’m no weapons expert, but I’m pretty sure a slug is one projectile, is the slug just tearing apart after 15m?
@@crashdummyfreed9088 I can hit a human sized target, with a proper dedicated slug shotgun way past 50m with 10/10 consistency. This futuristic shotgun should be better than what I've shot in my life 😂😂😂
Also dont forget the jar 5 dononator is just a better slugger in every way
@@dripwastaken7884 well, if they brought the slugger back to its original form, the bullet velocity, accuracy and quick ergonomics made me prefer it over the current version of the dominator. Don't get me wrong, the Jar is straight up insane, but I liked the slugger because I can quick swap between enemies faster and kill more small enemies than the dominator can due to its slow ergo.

Cookout is an amazing weapon for high tier bugs. But we must keep this secret as arrowhead swings the nerf hammer harder than Thor

i think i would put ammo inefficient weapon (like scorcher) in the higher tier since you use the medium+ support weapon to fight most enemies anyway

Give it a try with a slower play style. Its the Plasma punishers longer range and better ammo econ brother. With a little practice the charge time can also be optimized to easily stun lock groups of devs or people in youtube comment sections who dont understand it ;)
If the Poopfier in A, Airburst Rocket Launcher should be S tier.
@@MaplewoodLIVE I am envious of your positivity however it feels like you are gaslighting your community. Can we just admit the purifier is useless at the current level of enemy presence? The game is hemorrhaging players at an alarming rate. I love this game and want it to succeed but sometimes you gotta deliver a little tough love. The game is not in a good place and a lot of weapons feel anemic at best. I really enjoy your content but can you just be real and quit gaslighting. The purifier is ass and we all know it.

I’ve been surprised by how much the scythe fits a niche for my build
-It makes quick work of infantry at any range. Medium long range especially useful to prevent a bot drop from being called.
-Good vs the infantry on mounted machine guns where you need that accuracy.
-It sets berserkers on fire and a quick beam to the head makes it so they immediately go down with the help of 1 grenade pistol shot splash.
-I cover the scythe’s weakness with the help of the railgun which 1 taps any devastator, scout strider, or hulk. But for a close range devastator the scythe melts them once you get your aim down (just don’t do it vs shield devastator if it’s already aimed at you)
It's insane how top heavy your list is.
Purifier is a weapon you can't rely on in a pinch, that limits to B tier IMO. Its less of an issue at long range, low DPS though.
Agreed on Scorcher suffering lately, I think it needs more ammo per mag, a burst mode would be very welcome too!
I think the Punisher and Cookout on A is a bit high for weapons that have a hard time against devastators... I think the Explosive Crossbow is better, can be fairly precise.
Tried Dominator again and I still prefer Scorcher because it let's me damage Cannon Turrets and Hulks from the side to finish them off. Plus, no smoke plume to obscure my vision.
Blitzer, wish it had two fire modes. Shotgun blast & one where all the arcs come together for a precise shot. Would still be slow weapon, & youd have to actually aim it so i don't think it would be OP, especially with the range. Wouldn't arc to other targets so still a use for arc thrower

I think the tier list is pretty good and your reasoning was enjoyable to listen to.
I would place Tenderizer higher into A tier (above Punisher, roughly equal to Adjudicator) since its exceedingly low recoil and surprisingly high damage make it very capable against all forms of troopers to stop bot drops, devastator weapons/heads/stomachs, and has the DPS to drop berserkers. Precision, damage, and rate of fire all wrapped into one weapon is for sure A tier.
I would also rate frag grenade lower than smokes. The only thing they have going for them is that they can kill fabricators and open containers. Takes around 3 of them to kill a devastator and they really only do a good job when place directly next to the target so more of the frag will hit. What is the point of a wide AOE frag grenade which requires precision placement to get any real effect from the grenade? Personally I think they are in dire need of a strong buff to carve out a niche, either more fragments or have it be the grenade which allows a diver to carry more by default (more bad grenades = more fun at least).
Liberator Carbine is for sure C tier. It is almost unusable against bots, which is fine in my book because I like it quite a bit for bugs.
After doing the video we talked at length about the tierlist and that was one of those that I regretted not putting into A tier at least putting at -A still behind the sickle. As for the frags vs smokes, the smokes just disappoint me way too much at least the frags are doing something more tangible and useful overall. Only reason I didnt put the liberator carbine lower is because all the light pen AR's are either being shot in semi or burst which it can do but a little worse due to recoil. At least the carbine performs ok with berserker variants which seem to be more prominent.
Plasma punisher is S their, better than scorcher imo. AOE stagger is amazing when you are getting rushed and great for clearing large amounts of T1 bots I know T1 is never an issue but when you can fire to shots and kill 10 of them and keep running its pretty valuable
I think having the tenderizer in the same tier as penetrator, lib- carbine and fire breaker makes it look way worse than how it performs in the battlefield. Specially if you're accurate
totally fair after recording the video putting it around A- would be more fair B+ is a bit low even though its competing with the sickle
A bit late, unfortunately, but I did some more testing on thermites. Since the change they made to prevent thermites from softlocking the 'destroy orbital cannon' objective it seems that thermites now properly damage automaton tank turrets, and not only their hulls. This means they can now kill annihilator and shredder tanks (haven't found a rocket tank to test it against yet) in just one grenade toss provided it sticks to the turret. Paired with this change, however, is that it seems like their performance against hulks is less consistent now. Very rarely am I getting 2 to kill a hulk, it's usually 3, sometimes 4, and when it is 2 its taking longer than the math says it should.
Probably not enough of an upside to balance the downside to move up a tier, but you should be aware they have much better utility against tanks now. If your build doesn't include stun grenades thermites might now be a viable option for your tank-killing needs.

I'll have to disagree on the purifier. It is a B, or C+ tier at best.
The problem is, while you can make it work in specific contexts, those are very narrow ones, and the minute things get hectic, it cannot help you get control of the situation again.
It's not something that slots into a loadout, it is something you have to build an entire loadout around, and it does not give much back for all that.
I feel like the order of your rankings makes sense but the tiers are not properly describing the state of the weapons within them. The entirety of C tier is filled with weapons that fail to fill any niche in a loadout and the same could be said for the lower half of B tier. The grade of B and C should denote weapons that have at least some viability in certain situations, there should be a moment where I want to put away my support weapon and use my primary/secondary to handle a situation but none of these weapons have that characteristic
Tier lists are all subjective/up to the maker for the tiers and what they mean. It seems you're applying you own logic to them or someone's logic to mine. C tier is for weapons who aren't completely useless but are clearly not in a good spot they might be able to kill things but are just out classed. Maybe its the naming of the "needs a buff" it was previously named "trash" "troll" but people got very upset about the naming. Seems ive gone too far to the other side and people are not seeing the point of needs a buff as a weapon doesn't have anything going for it and needs a massive buff to get it out of there.
What's the point of using the slugger over the dominator? I feel like the dominator's heavy weight and slow muzzle velocity are only minor challenges
the dominator is really just a better slugger other than the handling!
I love the plasma punisher. Ive been using it on bots for a long time. It has only been recently that i have actually played with others that use it though. The new rocket striders make it really difficult to use on 10 though
Normally I save my support weapon for them but also ive been suggesting people give the purifier a chance. Its in a better state now that the med pen is actually working on it. Play slower with it due to the charge but I have an easier time with the new rocket striders!

Fuck im sorry dude I count myself lucky ive had very few issues, if your on PC try giving it a validate files that has worked for me in the past. If your on PS5 idk what can be done it just seems some PS5 crash a ton while others dont at all.

@@LaserTractor popularity has been this games biggest enemy and friend. Its quite clear they designed a different game than people who have bought the game wanted. Some want a challenge some want a couch horde shooter. Its clear they want to keep as many people as possible but its been difficult for them to change the game they designed. Seems like its getting through to them over time that the game needs to be more casual
@@MaplewoodLIVE I mean it's not about casual playstyle. Game can be difficult but in less tedious way. Right now what players call difficulty is insane amount of enemies, random ragdolls, weak weapons, huge amount of HP/armor on some enemies.
But it doesn't have to be like this.
Difficulty can be something else. Smarter enemies, more complicated tasks, enemies with good weakspots (hulk is perfect example, charger is worst example)
Right now it's just not fun. Enemies are the same on any difficulty. Bile Spewer is boring bullet sponge on diff9 and same on diff4. It's just not fun to take crossbow (i'm a fan) and waste WHOLE 4 ARROWS on one bile spewer. Maybe 3 if headshots.
It's almost a whole mag. And maybe I should use support weapon against it but what if I run Spear? Should I waste whole missile on some Bile Spewer?
Idk. Devs don't seem to grasp concept of fun. Now they even want to use AI to gather trending topics in community. Maybe it's for better. But it shows that they don't know what players want.

Use it like a longer range PP, people forget it didnt have the medium pen at launch. So peoples opinions were fair at first but it easily stun locks enemies

Smoke grenade deserves B+ Tier. Very useful for steath builds.
Unfortunately even in a stealth environment the smokes plume is so small you basically have to throw it at your feet and sit in it due to its lack of coverage. They really need some love for me to want to bring them!
@@MaplewoodLIVE While I agree they probably could use a tweak and I do prefer stuns even in stealth. It is pretty neat to Batman out of there. Being able to escape and reset encounters is an underrated tactic IMO.
The Jar-5 is without question the best but ONLY if you use peak physique. The handling without is 🤮🤮🤮 With explosive resist armor, I usually just run sickle. You can 2-tap devastator heads and I’m mostly using AC or railgun for them anyway. Diligence CS can be nice but when you’re getting aim kicked it can be quite infuriating
Naw! I use it all the time without peak physique, maybe its because i've been using it for so long before we got the amour perk. Don't get me wrong its nice to have but unless I have a poor handling support weapon I tend to skip on the amour and go for heavy medic or explosive resistance especially now with all those scary rockets flying around!
@@MaplewoodLIVE personally, I hate the handling without the perk. It’s fine for close-range vs devastators but when you’re trying quickly pick-off bots before they call a drop it can be a liability. The sickle is better than most people realise (you have correctly rated it highly) because devastator waists have no armor and you can very quickly drop them with the sickle by aiming there. Same for the diligence CS which is also good at picking heavy devastator heads at range but at the cost of less spray power in heated situations.
I still think the sickle is S tier even after its nerf becouse it is pretty skill capped

This way the poor and trash tier weapons are lumped together. You can still order them if you want, but by removing a "trash" tier and just combining them into a "I would never use these" tier then you *may* hopefully bypass some of the moaning.
I think for the next round I'm definitely going to be looking to rename them and these are some great suggestions. I over corrected before with this and its just unclear to many what I'm meaning with some of my placements. I guess I was hoping my words on the guns would mean more though.
I appreciate a different opinion, but the purifier is awful. It can do so many things, but it just does it all so poorly.
patience stop using it so aggressively, it really is just a more ammo efficient plasma punisher. If you get better at the charge time the fire rate is faster than most people even use it easily keeping things stun locked like the PP.
Crossbow is great as a primary when taking the hmg, as a utility tool mostly

Would love to but youtube is not what I do full time, I'm a streamer. I've been doing these while live it would take a lot of extra editing and clipping for this to happen. I've been having viewers atm editing these for me, its a goal in the future if I can get to place where money isn't a concern and get an editor that can do that for me! My hope is atm people are willing to maybe just have it on in the background but totally hear you about having gameplay!

give it a try good aim and positioning + getting good at the charge makes it a long range PP. People forget it didnt have med pen at release and just never tried it again or just use it like a normal weapon forgetting charge weapons should be used differently such as precharging before peaking
@@MaplewoodLIVE I have done complete runs with it against bots. The only unique ability it has is stagger at a longer distance than plasma shotgun. Until they buff it it just doesn't make any sense to me personally. It's the same across the board as PS except the longer range which you will only rarely use.
@@TheActionj864 People love the PP for the same thing you're telling me is the only unique thing. Yes the PP does more DPS but not accurately over distant + the purifier has a great ammo econ. Also being a more precise weapon put its in a better spot vs gun ships + striders even vs the PP

Nah, the Cookout is actually pretty decent. It's a sidegrade to the Plasma Punisher.

It was such. A letdown weapon. Why do that?!! The breaker incendiary already exists… & it’s way better rate of fire and spread… and apparently that’s what it’s meant for rifgt?!?? According to people and what the devs mean… fire damage. For a fire weapon… not actually damaging with the round over and over but setttinf them on fire and then letting it finish them or weaken as a support for ur team.
All about perspective and a lot of time accuracy! But it seems like they will be making the guns better and game easier for you soon!
