Dorothy is 101 years old and perhaps Ryan's biggest fan. Even though she has seen him perform before she is hard of hearing so never fully got to experience Ryan playing. She gets a front row seat for this performance.
Ryan made headlines performing on both the TV show Ellen as well as on stage at Carnagie Hall.
For Dorothy he performs 'Variations on an Inner Mongolian Folk Song'.

I was surprised by his tears. He is a mature one to understand the depth of her appreciation.
You can tell how mature this kid is, amazing for being only 5.
How he gave the women a hug, he had so much emotion, trying to not cry. Not to mention his piano skills.

I hope he's not overly emotional because he's being pressured by overly ambitious parents.......
why do people always think that kids with talents and using them to show the world were being pressured by their parents. seems like those people judging are jealous to the parents who have talented kids and because they got kids that nothing to be proud of!
This is so sweet.
Ryan is just so cute and loving. He's so young yet he's so emotionally mature and even embraces Dorothy (!) almost bringing her to tears, and evoking some tears of his own.
Honestly speaking, this probably "made" Dorothy's life.
It was just an amazing moment to watch, and I'm glad the cameras didn't phase them at all.

I hope they don't forget this baby, however talented he is, is still a baby. I hope he does not end up burned out too young from being asked and expected to do things way beyond his years. There is a reason that teddy bear is there. Bless his precious heart and I'm glad the old lady got to sit there and hear the child play, he is fantastic.
It was so touching to see a 5 year-old feeling touched/shedding tears by the elderly lady's appreciation. She is 96 years older than him. Could easily be his great or great great grandma. It is good to teach children to cherish the elderly. Today too many young people neglect/ignore their elderly relatives.
It's a very touching moment to witness.
Two very special, lovely, and adorable people. Very. She's sees the value and promise in him. He sees the value and love in her. She knows what her age means to her. From the look on his face, I imagine he does as well. That shows a knowledge and understanding often far beyond his age.

WOW! That is astounding. One might say two old souls, but 96 years difference in physical age. Absolutely amazing piano player for one so young.

To see that young man's eyes tear as a result of comments made by an elderly lady is absolutely heartwarming. "It makes her happy." Wish all our children were that compassionate and respectful. What a wonderful world we would have.

She looks so much in amazement while watching him play the piano as if saying, Oh! what pretty and wonderful tiny hand it is so gifted!
THIS CHILD IS THE REAL DEAL. I HAVE HEARD SERKIN AND HOROWITZ LIVE IN CONCERT, AND THIS CHILD MAKES MUSIC. HE IS THE REAL DEAL. HOW GLORIOUS. AND I LOVE THE TEARS IN HIS EYES AFTER HE HUGS DOROTHY. HE IS A BEAUTIFUL LITTLE CHILD WHO PLAYS WITH HEART AND HAS A REAL GIFT.
He is so talented, and anyone who has negative comments to say really needs to grow up.
How could he play such kind of music and how could he react that way to grandma if his heart is small like his age...his heart grows like superman....

The piece isn't difficult, but his amount of control over the keys is amazing for a five year old
Amazingly talented little boy that obviously has a natural flair and gift for music. He also has a feel for the music, at his age I don't think this can be taught, but comes naturally from him. It is remarkable for someone so young to express himself so well on the keyboard.
