The Fall, by Tarsim Singh. Think that's how you spell his name. Not available on any streaming format and the only physical media option are used discs not supported by Amazon. I love his other movies and never seen The Fall. We definitely need to bring back the movie stores!

Scarecrow video used to have a video art installation space upstairs. When I was in art school at the University of Washington in the mid 90s I was invited to create an installation there. It was a fantastic opportunity for a young art student to have a large audience of enlightened and curious people.

Thank you Jeff for bringing awareness of Scarecrow Video to a wider audience. I’m a Seattle native who use to live by the store in the early ‘90s and this place was part of my film education. Videos or photos of the shop would really hit home the massive scale of the collection.

For several years I lived about 1/2 mile from Scarecrow. Always a fun experience for any movie buff!

Right now, I depend on streaming because I am in a nursing home, trying to walk again. I've been here for 3 years because Covid made the physical therapy gym unavailable. Through that, I lost my apartment because of the lengthy stay, but my sister has about half of my collection for me to pick up when I finally do get out.
I just visited the Scarecrow Video website and see all the Save Scarecrow Video banners. I think marketing would help rake in cash. T-shirts, hoodies, baseball jerseys, baseball hats, beanies, shot glasses, beer mugs, coffee mugs, plastic cups, prints. To spice it up, you should have an illustrator make a mascot like a Scarecrow with a skeleton head or a jack o lantern head. It would do wonders.

This is important. We need places like Scarecrow
And the people who work there are doing such a fantastic job of keeping alive films from around the world that could go missing if not for them. So thanks Jeff for bringing this video to us.
We learn so much from watching all kinds of films.
And international movies are so important to us all.

In the uk we have cex a trade in store for movies, video games and tech. I just searched how many movie/tv titles they have. they have 120k -130k roughly (across dvd,hd-dvd,bluray,4k and psp/umd)but that's accross 390stores nationwide. So this absolutely blows my mind that scarecrow has what they have in one location. 🤯

I was shocked to find out that this place isn't far from where I live. I need to get there before it disappears. I learned of this place from the fabulous documentary At the Video Store.

Hearing you guys talk about how people don't treat movies as art makes me think of video games as well.

Kate Barr your going the right way
I'm from UK and we have the BFI in London .
And in Bradford Yorkshire we have pictureville and the museum of the living image an Imax screen and at the present time the only working Cinerama screen in the world.

As an audiophile, the audio/lip sync not matching is grinding my gears. That aside, Scarecrow is doing amazing work!

I hope that Scarecrow Video is able to stay in business.
I don't think there are any video rental stores remaining in NYC.

Scarecrow has been through so much debt and I think still continues to try to get out of it- but they keep hemorrhaging cash. I can't believe they are still in business. And believe me- that store is amazing !

I absolutely wish my friend would open up his collection to the world because he has about 800,000 DVDs and about 500,000 blu-rays and around 2,000 4K blu-rays. He is severally paranoid and justicely so. We had a friend that got jealous because he got to a yard sale before they did and picked up a ridiculously amazing deal of games that were easily worth 50 grand for like 200 bucks. Anyways that former friend set fire to his house and my friend lost a big chunk of his game collection.

Scarecrow Video is absolutely the worst experience I've ever had shopping for physical media. Like you I was in the Seattle area and Everett as well. I stopped by here and was so exited to shop around. This was hands downs the worst service I've ever had. The employees were unhelpful, rude, and seemed annoyed I was trying to buy something. I bought a movie and then left. I love independent places but this was not it.
