- The Honda Civic Si was once an icon of the import tuning craze. Now that the street racing set has dispersed a question emerges; is there still a place in this world for the Civic Si? To help answer that question KBB's Micah Muzio climbed into the latest Si to see if Honda's front-drive bad boy can muster up some fast and/or furious driving fun.

Had my Si for 3 years now. At 115K miles I haven’t had problems at all. Very reliable, good on gas.
Have to add this
The Si turns heads. Yes is may be all the Hispanics and Asians but people drool at this car on the road. Sun roof is so wonderful while driving down the bay. The next great thing is the USB dock and Bluetooth. Just signed up for the spotify mobile app and this is an amazing accessorie for the car. Seem less sync capability and the 6 speakers plus SUB make the drive quite the experience. I would honestly suggest and Techies really look into this car. An amazing buy.
I have the sedan. This car is bulletproof proof I’m nearing 250k miles. Still going strong just regular oil change and always change the transmission fluid every 30kmiles
I love how you mentioned alternatives during the review. All reviewers should learn from this guy
I loved this review, do more like this, they are more enjoyable to watch..i really like kbb, keep up the good work...
This is the best and more fun review I have seen about this car... Good job KBB!!!!
@nesarbago It's a song I wrote for the video.
Just traded in my 2013 Civic Si Sedan. Love the new car (2024 VW Golf R manual), but I still miss the Si. The K24 is such a great engine.
What a nice piece of machinery.
The Si will give you something the competition just can NOT. LONG TERM quality and reliability. Most Honda's run 2 to 300,000 miles without any "major' mechanical issues. That will never happen with a Kia, Hyundai or the Chevy Cruise. Hell, ANY chevy is lucky to go 80,000 without a major mechanical failure. My only gripe is I wish they would offer leather in this top of the line Civic. I mean, why the hell not? Also, for gods sake, give us an automatic option as well!
Xcorgi pussy
Iv had mine for 5 years now. Still love it.
2012 genesis 2.0T, 0-60 in 7.2. 210hp/223tq
2012 Mazdaspeed 3 is even worse, hitting 0-60 in 7.8 secs with 262hp/280tq
2012 civic si 0-60, 6.5. Yet is only pushing 201hp/170tq..
Dont just look at horsepower numbers and say other cars are quicker.
awesome review
proud owner of a 2010 high rev FG2
Good style review. Keep up the good work. That guy always does a good job when he's on camera.
I just love that car I hope I can get one of those same 2012
Not really a fan of this model, but thumbs up on how car reviews should be done. Showing us features that none of the others do! Great review!
agree, Honda had the opportunity to put the RDX 2.4 turbo engine.
Nice Video that u made guys,,,it is awesome..keep the good work
That was a great review and the host was good too
Excellent review... You guys should do more like this
BTW about the Genesis Coupe. No point in getting the car now. Wait till the 2013 model. The base 2.0T is going up to 275HP and the 3.8 up to 350. Supposedly with the same prices. Plus there's also the FR-S/BRZ coming out too. Lots of competition for the Si
GREAT REVIEW! How u compared cars and what was a better bang for your buck!
Good review. Like the new style of the video
i thank it looks good i liked a 08 si i test drived one time, if only it was a tad more under 20 as the guy pointed thats alot for just 200 hp
did u guys shoot this Video by Port of Long Beach ?
wow. that's pretty funny. i had the idea that the civic si was a pretty good deal until i realized i could get the mazda speed3 for an extra 14 bucks a month. now i'm tinking v6 mustang looks even better when it has 100hp more. the same gas mileage and starts at around 21k. like how no one mentioned that though. just kept it strictly imports here.
"...doesn't look that different from the 8th generation Civic." Seeing them both there together I would certainly agree with that, and add that the 8th generation Civic was actually better looking. They would have been better off just sticking with it. I am speaking in terms of looks only, of course.
Loved it! Lot of nostalgia!!!!
I like the 2012 tc better, I had the 8th gen si sedan. You get more bang for your buck with the tc. IMO!
NICE Review!!
This is the probably the best review kbb has ever made, the other ones are just flat out boring..
Does it operate of regular gasoline, or premium?
what a great review!
Good ol' Terminal Island freeway... LBC baby!
Honda wants to sell a 1990's car in 2012. No great "engineering" as some fans imagine. But a smart way to keep reliability high=> "If it doesn't have anything, it won't brake anything".
Did you check out the european civic?
@tinleo333 Not to mention that the WRX and RA aren't too far off the Si price list as well.
The HFP kit makes this car look amazing. It's too bad it costs almost as much as a mid-tier WRX. Even still, I love the Si in every generation (Ep3 owner).
Just like honda's sportbikes, they dropped the rpm, and gave it a punch of midrange torque. This is the best street set-up, tho some say not as fun. All that less shifting and lower rpm's means more durable engine and tranny. My bike revs to 15k anyway, do idc if I can't go to 8k on a car
I dont get all the peoples hate on the Civic Si -___-
@Mgilvan2002 Yup. LBC!
how much do the si run for?
Oh wow this video took FOREVER to get uploaded lol Nice!
@richie2nice If you've seen the new Accord Coupe Concept; if it looks something like that (redesigning those horrid foglights of course), then I guess you can say its a Prelude for the modern era. NSX + Concept AWD = WTF?. It was meant to be a MR setup. RSX; I hope they can bring it back... I miss my Integras :(. S2000's; I agree.
Nice Video.
I really don't like the new Civic, but i quite like the looks of the Si sedan and coupe.
for what it is, they never seem to be able to improve MPG on Civics, what a shame
ill stick to my 8ht gen SI thank you:)
I love my 00 civic ex. I don't think I ever want to sell it but I really want a new Civic Si. Maybe a 2011 because I don't really like the 2012 new design even if it looks similar.
v6 mustang is 23k gets 22/31 mpg as well but its 306 hp
now it's 76 with the new powertrain on the new gen coupe
jeez i wish we had this civic in the UK, so much nicer looking
i love the prelude look. just hate the fact that it's fwd. would never buy just for that.
You must not have the 2012. You don't have to rev over 3k on the daily....EVER. It has torque for days. Its not a bad daily, maybe a little noisy but the new suspension also caters a tad more to comfort than the older ones.
I love small diameter steering wheels to a point. I don't want to feel like I am driving a bus.
Gen 8 FTW!!!!
@aconfusedazn probably cuz it's going to be redesigned soon... maybe?
As of today I have 132,000 miles on mines
@Latincitizen it has a good bit of work done.
Name of the soundtrack pls? :)))
glory days of the 90s modding? i wish, that crap still goes on in the UK its starting to get old now! but hilarious on the plus side.
2:00 bye bye clutch
The 4door looks a lot better than the 2door.
2012 civic Si looks alot less aggressive
The Sentra SE-R Spec V feels left out.
Great looking car. Makes the 8th gen Si look dated, real quick.
mann i want one so bad.
Honda is better engineering in my point of view. Yes, you might get more HP with the mazda and feel like you get more with a hyundai, but look at 90's honda. You will see a lot more on them on than those other compared to the civics. You can see a lil civic with 200k plus miles driving away any day. I would love to see that from a mustang, mazda, or a hyudai. Those make start falling apart once the hit the 100k mile mark. Just my opinion im no expert. But i dont believe they are really sport car
Idk if this really has 304 comments or if youtube glitched again
Scion tc is good for me.
how do you know?
I like the alternative cars better
this guy portray this as a troublemaker's car, which it's totally is.
Be nice if it had a turbo, otherwise it's all show and no go.
I belong in Club Si.
If the FRS comes out at 23k this car will for the most part go away. Still one of the better Honda's with a horrible interior,
hate the rear reminds me of a regular car. the rear on previous si looked way better.
Very good, ngl
@nicocubero i agree with you, but i wont thums you up! its annoying u know!!!!
The GTI is not faster... lmao. Better interior maybe though
vw GTI??
You have to only want a honda to even consider this car in my opinion. Mazdaspeed3 wipes the floor with this. And is a versatile hatchback. But whatever. Lol
I'd take the GENESIS COUPE anyday
does everyone agree that this car is Ugly? thumbs up so honda could start building beatiful cars once again. R.I.P:S2000, Prelude, Nsx, Rsx.
@Stevenhiggles KM/L maybe
wait the mpg must be off. my damn 300+hp altima gets better gas than that. AND ITS A V6!!!
the sedan is only 20lbs heavier? Jesus Honda. wht kinda witch craft is tht?
He cute
Aw he's so cute(:
Quite obviously I love Honda xD but I think Honda failed with this one. The 2.4 is possibly a good thing but it's heavier and revs less which is a down for me, I'd rather have them improve on the 2.0 by making it the same as the jdm civic type r that has 225hp xD. Also the rear end of the car looks like shit. The sedan looks way better.
Alright don't have to be so mean about it. lol
with that money you can buy a 306hp brand new ford mustang
why a 200hp?
Civic is always taking steps backwards in looks.
Check out the htachback civic they're selling in europe and then come and tell me this car is ugly. I would want one of these civic coupes, but they don't sell them in europe.
@blackout9t4 erghhh I said ugly not quality.....
gonna be cosmetic changes only, they do this almost every year, nothing new.
...i need to learn how to drive a manual....
The Scion tC looks like a giant tumor IMO. the old one was better
The one before was better looking.
yup saw it up close when i went there and they're still ugly
import racing bubble burst??????
