    Hi Friends, Ariel Chobaz is a Grammy nominated mix engineer that has worked with Drake, Nicki Minaj, Rihanna and Justin Bieber. He's a master of mixing interesting and tasteful vocal effects that keep listeners engaged. In this video, Ariel shows you how to create a great sounding stutter effect that he's used all over songs he's mixed for Nicki Minaj! Have a marvellous time recording and mixing, many thanks Warren

      Thanks for the vids awesome stuff as always! Today I have a question and I wasn't sure where else to post it other than here. Have you had a chance to check out Toontracks Superior Drummer 3? I was hoping you could do a very detailed video of how you would process those type of drums samples.They sound very polished from the start never the less it brings up many more questions of whether to process the samples even more or as you would any other drums?How much eq'n needs to be done to these samples? Do we then need to bother with generating sine oscillators and or several duplicate tracks of kick drum or several kick drum samples? Then the compression? Again do they need it how much etc? I'm really hoping you get your hands on it and actually do another "Totally in the Box" video! That would be awesome! I think many more are going to hop on this Superior drummer 3 train because it is a very impressive piece of software and it does drum replacement ! No I don't work for ToonTracks or anything like that eh. It's just mind blowing technology and would love to see you cover it at some point if possible! Thank you for all your effort!!

    don't want to sound rude or like if i knew everything, but you could have really made this video 3-5 minutes long, very simple way of doing it too. Best stutter technique is Dave Pensados (in my humble opinion) running the reversed vocal sample thru a delay, record the tail and reverse it again, you can get not only better but more creative results i you run that thru an Echoboy for example. Just saying tho, nice vid

    Ariel Chobaz seems like a phenomenal mix engineer... unfortunately, I think the music sucks big time. In fact, this is EXACTLY what I feel is wrong with music today. Simplistic and cheesy rhythms, no groove at all, banal and monotone melodies, and no real instruments to be found. I know, that music is subjective and if people like this then fine. I just fear, that young people will grow up without knowing what music is really about. I can't imagine that anyone who hears this tune for the first time will be inspired or intrigued. This is music you like, because you've heard a similar sounding track a million times before. Sorry, for being so crude. I might of course be an old fart who's lost touch with reality, but I have a hard time even calling this junk music.

      I like it. I like it precisely because it does sound different from the music I grew up with, and spent most of my life listening to. Is there a lot of average chart music? Yes. Does a lot of chart music sound the same? Yes. Is all of it bad? No. For example, I really like the new Taylor Swift track. I she did good work with that one.
      And here's the thing, is there a lot of average unsigned / indie music out there? Yes. Does a lot of unsigned / indie music sound the same? Yes. Is all of it bad? No. For example, the new EP from Moxi, 'Figures Bathed in Light' is nothing short of a masterpiece.
      There has always been average music. There was plenty of average music in the 60s. And plenty of it was pre-fab pop made only to make money.
      There is some fantastic music being made, by incredible Artists and Bands. You just have to go looking for them. Here's a quick list, you won't like all of them, but you might find one or two that inspire you :
      Moxi, Little Empire, Dolls XX, Ryder, The Workday Release, Stacey, Amy Shark, Beauz, Fans of Jimmy Century, Milck, DIDI, Raval Cavves, Grace Mitchell, Crane, Walla, Wild Year.
      Why not go out there and find an unsigned band, that you really love and work to support them? Share their music, contact magazines and blogs about them, get them into playlists, get them on Internet Radio.. why not do that? Why not make a positive difference, rather than whining about the state of modern music. You don't like it? Change it!

    • @probusexcogitatoris736
      @probusexcogitatoris736 7 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      +Toby Davis. Pretty much all pop music today is produced by a handful of middle-aged producers. Most songs are produced by two in particular. Nowhere in history has pop music been as homogeneous and controlled by as few individuals as today. In the 70s you had everything from hard rock, disco, Motown, blues, etc... in the charts. In the 80s you had metal, glam-rock, synth-pop, disco, etc... on and on. Today, 90 percent of all pop music is some mix of EDM/Hip-hop/modern R&B. The song that's being mixed here, is made exactly in line with the usual pop formula. I swear, I could not get through it without a deep urge to blow my brains out. That is how much I despise this kind of "music"...
      Yes, there is a lot of good music out there... but, it's not the pop music you listen to on the radio. The fact that you have to really go look for it, is the whole problem.

    • @tobydavis9209
      @tobydavis9209 7 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      The problem is you. You're lazy. You are guilty of the exact same laziness that dominates the charts. Even your argument is lazy. We all know everything you just said, yet you present like it's insight. It's not insight, it the same old tired observation that everyone makes about chart music.
      Make an effort. Go find quality new music and support it.
      The fact you have to go look for good music, is the whole problem? No, it's not. The problem is, you can't be bother to look for it. The Music Press can't be bothered to cover it. The playlist curators can't be bother to feature it. Nobody can be bothered.
      I am lucky enough to know a lot of extraordinarily talented young musicians, songwriters and artists. And it breaks my heart to see how hard they have to work, for so little. Why not help them out? Why not meet them halfway? You're obviously passionate about music. Why not use that passion for something positive?
      Right now. Type, 'Moxi Figures Bathed in Light', into the TH-cam search bar. Take a moment. You've never know, you might actually like it.
