I flew on the four cross country flights.
1.) In 1987, I flew nonstop on Continental Airlines from Rochester, NY/ROC to Honolulu/HNL through the connections at Newark/EWR and Los Angeles/LAX. It took about 5 hours and 30 minutes to reach LAX from EWR. Also the same flight length from LAX to HNL. Back home, same connections.
2.). While I lived in HNL in 1988, I had to fly to ROC for my brother’s funeral service who died from a blood clot at his age of 33 (I was 23 years old at that time) in June 1988. A month later, my mother and sister flew United Airlines to HNL with me from ROC through the connection at ORD. We flew on the Boeing 747 and all seats were sold out even though the seats on the Upper Deck were sold out - just completely sold out because of a high peak season. It took 9 hours to reach HNL from ORD. Yes, it was my first time to fly on a long haul journey. Two weeks later they flew back home through ORD. Next day I flew moving back home to ROC through the connection at Toronto/YYZ on Canadian Internationals Airlines, formerly known as Canadian Pacific and yes, it flew nonstop from HNL to YYZ as it took 8 hours and 30 minutes. There, I visited my relatives who lived near the YYZ Airport for about 5 hours. One of them took me back to the airport to fly nonstop on USAir to ROC from YYZ which took about half an hour to reach ROC.
3). In June 1992, I was suppose to fly American Airlines from ROC to LAX through the connection at Chicago/ORD, but the Rochester to Chicago was canceled due to a technical problem, so they sent me to fly USAir to LAX through the connection at Baltimore/BWI. It took 5 hours and 30 minutes to reach LAX from BWI. There, I visited my friends for 10 days. I flew American Airlines back home through ORD.
4.) In June 1993, I flew Delta Airlines to LAX through the connection at Atlanta/ATL. It took 4 hours and 30 minutes to just reach LAX from ATL. I was there for 14 days. I flew back home through the connection at Cincinnati/CVG. It took about 4 hours to reach CVG from LAX.

It may be bizarre for a 777 on this route.

United placed a 777 on this route to deter Alaska Airlines, which started SAN-IAD service earlier in 2023. Normally it's B737s on this route.

Caviar, Dom Perignon, crew with language skills German, French, linen , style, elegance. UA offered just exact that kind of inflight product in the nineties. UA TODAY is so miserable. A shadow of their once glory. AND NO INTERNATIONAL FIRST CLASS CABIN. Air France, Lufthansa, British or Swiss "spoil" you with superb terrific international First Class service. UA "run down and cheap". @@haroldlipschitz9301
