Just finished my first 30 min slow jog. Feel absolutely terrific, like it's been a while since I've accomplished something substantial. Going all in on this, will try the zero drops as suggested.
I just learned about slow jogging. I never was into sports, only swimming. I’m 51 yo and getting a hip replacement. I would like to do slow running afterwards. How long after the operation should I wait to start this. I’m not very overweight. Thank you for your very helpful and clear videos.
Try Altra or Topo shoes without a drop, at least I am doing it that way to start. You will also find that by wearing footshape zero drop shoes your feet will start to get stronger but it takes a period of transition in to them so start slowly and alternating with your usual shoes. Have a nice time!
Was wondering if anyone uses HOKA runners, they have deep cushioning from toe to heel. My reasoning into looking at getting pair, is that anything that provides any form of shock absorption can only be beneficial for you, than minimal flat sole shoe. Your foot trike is still on balls of feet but with added support, can only be advantageous long term? Any thoughts on this fellow slow joggers?
Well, as an amateur I would say yes - I think the barefoot shoes encourage your toes etc to move and participate in the action, and so strengthen the whole foot. Using your forefoot as a spring should improve the arch.
Hi! I have flat feet and have been exclusively in barefoot shoes for over 4 years, and I practice niko niko also in bare feet. It's one of the best things I've ever done, and cured my back pain (quite surprisingly). Hope that helps! 😁
This is a very good point about the hard surfaces. That's why I myself am skeptical of running shoes with no cushion and chose instead low drop shoes with less cushion than traditional. I also imagine if one wore barefoot shoes and was very very mindful to have light short strides and footsteps the force from the ground would still probably be okay for the body. But you do have a good point. We need to be mindful of the impact created by artificial surfaces and respect our joints and bodies.

i cant run fast n long distance due to two times heart attack, i will learn more about slow jogging
i'm using Earth Runners grounding sandals to do my slow jogging. This allows me to get the benefits of grounding while getting exercise.
I loved the old racing flats. Just ordered a pair of ASICS Sorties and a pair of the Tadevo!!
Sounds great! Let us know how it goes :)

Hi, I have a problem with my ankles and have to wear orthotics. Is there a suitable shoe which can take orthotics?

I have the Arahi 6 and they feel great. I’m not a runner but they are very comfortable shoes with a lot of support as you mentioned.
So barefoot it OK?
If you are running indoors or on a perfectly safe road then yes!
I'm sure this comes from Geisha's, really - watch when they run in Kimono and Geta. LOL
Hi, how about if you are flat footed? Are these shoes ok too? Thank you.

Does this also mean we should only slow jog on soil and grass? After all, we evolved our running without the presence of tar roads and gravel

Definitely, try running barefoot on grass. That's how I started appreciating the technique.
