    My Dad just showed me a bunch of old Victorian pennies he found whilst working down in London in the 80's. It's got me interested.

    It depends on how much it's been cleaned or polished. I enjoy the design and artistry on the coins more than their scarcity. I have a soft spot for 18th century coins...

    Bought an estate lot of old UK coins on etsy, excited. Don't expect silver or gold, but looking forward. I like the dirt and grime from around the world. So that tarnish from one coin could be from Britain, another Scottland, etc. Cool video man. Looking forward to those 148 (supposedly unresearched) coins coming in. Bringing a little bit of the UK to Hawaii. 8)

    Awesome collection! I like the 1887 Crown and the 1817 1/2 the best. I don't mind the cleaned ones, so long as the detail is there and they're priced properly.

    Fantastic big coins, I give credit to Frank P and especially *Big Lorry* getting me started on the British Crown, very impressive coin. I like them old, worn (and Gothic), and not worry about keeping it sealed in some plastic thing.

    • @BackyardBullion
      @BackyardBullion  8 ปีที่แล้ว

      I like them worn too. I dont buy them for their quality, often they have more character if they are worn.

    These are the kinds of coins I was hoping to see when I joined your site. i have some Georgian shillings and half crowns but my crowns only go back to 1887. I had a chance to buy an 1821 VF crown, but I felt the owner should give it to her daughter. On my last trip to London, I was more into Georgian flatware and didn't even think of coins.

    Cleaning coins is fine. Soapy water and a soft toothbrush . Ultrasonic cleaners work well to. It’s almost impossible when you dig a Roman coin out of the ground to not clean it.
    Modern coins should not use any chemical cleaners. Most people frown on cleaning coins as usually it’s done poorly in the chemicals used attacked the coin at self

    Thanks for the video. I have a local dealer offering me a collection of old british coins, however, i'm not sure of the value. P.s, I would only buy cleaned coin if it was extremely rare. i'm going to post a video of the british coins in hopes someone can help identify them.

    The America the Beautiful quarters (sometimes abbreviated The National Parks quarters) are a series of 56 25-cents quarters, issued by the United States Mint starting in 2010 and scheduled to continue until at least 2021, but the series may be extended at the option of The Secretary of the Treasury, potentially extending the series to 2033, and after that, i wonder what new quarters will keep coming out.

    Are all those 1806 pennys on ebay for 5-10 pound real? I do not have a clue as everywhere has different prices and the mintage is unknown

  • @meteoman7958

    Cleaning by dipping is very different than cleaning by polishing, which is a big no no. A very black coin shouldn't be touched but an unsightly, lightly tarnished coin can be made more presentable by dipping.

      MétéoMan if you're collecting for a hobby or stacking its your personal preference whether you clean them or not as long as it makes you smile who cares but if you're buying to sell then obviously do not clean them let the buyer decide what he wants to do but you cannot beat that beautiful black tarnish patina on a coin the natural build up of hundreds of years being handled and passed around from hands to hands it just makes the coin really stand out and shows all its detail I go metal detecting and I like to find the bronze coins not just the pre decimal pennies and similar coins to that I find hammered coins and the other month I found a bronze jetton and the green patina was beautiful that's what I love about bronze coins when they get that green patina it's priceless I gave it to my friend as a gift he is a metal detectorists on TH-cam called deep Digger Dan he is quite well known all over the world and has many followers I'm in a few of is videos if you type in deep Digger Dan metal detecting a mediaeval Village you will see me and him on the front cover that was his last metal detecting video he filmed a few weeks ago he has thousands of videos and travelled the world metal detecting he also went round the coast of England metal detecting a different beach each day it's called digging the coast 365 and his target was to raise £50,000 for a children's charity called rays of Sunshine which you may have heard of he went above his target and raised just under £60,000 dan started off in Keighley his hometown and his amazing journey only finished about 6 weeks ago he also has another channel called the travel troll his real name is Dan Holdsworth a very funny guy very knowledgeable and knows his history so if you're into you're history and metal detecting I would highly recommend checking out his channels deep Digger Dan and the travel troll oh by the way I have subscribe and hit the notification Bell keep up the good work BB and all the best for the future . . good luck and stay safe . . Is there a special way to get this dark silver color? The silver I have (about 15 years old) is not nearly as beautiful, rather kind of rusty-brown.

  • @tipstricksss1453

    I don't touch cleaned coins... I have a lot of British coins from 1700's to late 1800's mainly just farthings and penny's I'd like to get some silver coins like what you have. The only silver British coins I have are after 1900's but I don't really consider those ones as old enough for my collection although I still keep them and take any others I find.

    • @tipstricksss1453
      @tipstricksss1453 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      I wouldn't mind paying 6 pounds for each silver coin. Most if not all the ones on ebay are on auction and often have to many ebay loonies bidding high amounts with like 4 days still left on the auction.
