I have had platelet rich plasma injected into my knee twice over the past 5-6 years and this procedure has worked perfectly for me. A fabulous result for me. 👍
Plazma je nešto najbolje,ja sam radila 3 inekcije u razmaku po 7 dana,i godinu i po dana nisam osjetila bolove...preporucujem da se uvede u protokol zdravljenja koljena .
I am receiving the plasma injections next month. I tried the cordazone and gel injections, which stopped working. Hopefully, I will have similar results to yours.
@@expectnolove9978 I would recommend it every time. If I have a problem again whereas plasma can be useful.. I would certainly agree with it. I hope it works well for you. It takes a couple of weeks to really kick in.. 🤞🙏
You need to try prolo shots and they rebuild the cartridge in the knee. I have been so lucky that they have these shots. I also do heat therapy just when I need it. I do exercise on the knees to. Hope you will tell your patients about this other alternative they can do.
I’m 74 and have been receiving knee injections in my left knee every 3-4 months for a couple of years now and they work for me. I’m not looking to run a marathon here I’m just interested in preserving my ability to perform daily tasks do home and yard maintenance and be able to walk a couple of miles without debilitating pain. I’ve already had bilateral total hip replacement and am in no hurry to replace any other joints. Knowing what you want and what to expect from these procedures is very important and you docs do a good job of explaining this. Keep up the good work.
Try this too… often the problem with the knee is lack of motion in the hip and ankle. If you can resolve these two contributors to knee problems you will improve knee function. Who provides this sort of mobility exercises? A physical Therapist. .
I just got a hyaluronic acid injection last week! I only needed one and it was covered by my insurance! My knee is bone on bone! So now I been walking without pain the first time in 4 years! I’m so excited to go on walks and hikes with friends now!!
I have been diagnosed with a torn meniscus and arthritis in my knee. I chose to have PRP injections. I have had 3 PRP injections over the course of a year and a half. (Every 6 months). The results for me have been good. I am still able to play competitive pickleball 3 times a week with players 20 to 25 years my junior. I may eventually need a knee replacement, but for now I am mostly pain free. PS: I am 79 years old.
@@harleyinred Ask your doctor about them. The docs in this video are surgeons who have only done surgeries in their careers. Younger orthopedic docs are more open to new modern procedures that don't require surgery.
I did knee injections for years, trying to put off TKR. I have arthritis so bad. It wasn't until I couldn't walk without a crutch that I finally gave in and had the new knee. Dr. said he was surprised how bad it was in there. Best thing I ever did. It's not totally ideal, but wow, no pain and I can walk again. Reminder! Do your therapy! Diligently! My surgeon didn't approve of PT and I had eventually ask and ask to go. I went late and I don't have the flexibility I think I could have had. But very grateful for my new knee!
@@djsoulfilter my doctor said to limit activity for 48 hours after the injection, and take Advil or Aleve if necessary. He said after the injection, the change is slow. It can take from 3 to 6 weeks. Unfortunately, it didn’t help me.
Thank you talking to doctors. I am a 57 year old male and I am a truck driver. I have had the stem cell injections in both wrists it didn't help. I have had the PRP injections in both wrist two times it helped about 6 months. Thank you for your videos I enjoy watching them they are very helpful.
For the past 6 years, I have been receiving an injection of Hyloronic acid approximately every 7 to 8 months. This helps me enormously. I recommend it to everyone with knee problems.
Hyaluronic acid is a life saver! Had many successful years with it, while physically active, on my feet all day. Then my health plan replaced it with cortisone. Do not ever let anyone inject cortisone in your knee, it disabled me. Had to retire and go on Medicare to get proper healthcare and some rehab. Knee and mobility are improved, but will never be the same.
I am 45 and diagnosed with OA in my right knee. No pain meds reduced the pain. Got hyaluronic acid injections, it was magical, with no pain but after 2 weeks the pain was back. Then got cortisone, worked magic for 2 weeks only. Now I am going to Chairo and do the exercises but I live my life with immense pain, sleepless nights 24/7.
Sorry to hear this 😢 I'm 45 and do allot of walking as my job is a postman so do 10-12 miles walking every day. My knee pain wakes me up at least 5 times a night I'm booked in to see the doctors fingers crossed.
I found kneesovertoes guy on TH-cam and walking backwards (while pulling a tire ) has helped immensely!! You can even just walk backwards with no weight or go on a treadmill on an incline
I really enjoyed this video. I just received my first injection and cortisone/hydro acid from Dr. Weening yesterday. In one day I cannot believe how much pain relief I have received. Thank you Dr. Weening.
I had hyalironic injections twice in both knees twice within 18 months it’s been over two years, plus loosing 45 lbs didn’t hurt and my knees feel great ! I’m 69 years old , retired carpenter!!!
I had numerous injections in my knee for the last 7 yrs. But, now having a TKR this March. I should of had it done 2 years ago. But, tried to keep my knee for as long as possible. Just finished Physical Therapy. Positive, Mental Attitude going into this TKR. Thank you for the video 😊
Sounds like me! My TKR is in April. I swore I would never do this but it’s amazing how desperation can change your tune. I’m looking forward to getting rid of this horrible bone on bone pain.
PRP was a miracle for me personally (in my thumb) after an injury that would not heal for many months. At least 80% of my patients I have injected with PRP did very well with long lasting results.
I've had PRP injections in both knees. Was great at first but only lasted a few weeks. I'd love to try stem cells but apparently need to go to Mexico or elsewhere out of our country- thank you again big pharma and U.S. medicine.
I had a cortisone shot in my elbow years ago and haven’t had a problem since. Had one in my left thumb for arthritis and it was so very painful - I had all I could do to keep it together till I left the room. The doctor kept asking if I was ok and I couldn’t respond due to pain. Couldn’t move my hand the rest of the day, it was 50% better for a few days and then it was the same. I’ll never do it again. Don’t know if surgery would help, but no more shots in that joint!
I had a PRP injection in April 2023. It worked but took a good 90 days to set in. I did the hyaluronic injection before and lasted maybe 6 months. I would agree the PRP was my best option even though (not mentioned in the video) is out of pocket. Mine cost was $1,100 but for the pain and mobility, it was worth it. It is now a going close to a year and I can now exercise… squats, go down stairs and ride my bike. My knee is not perfect and will let me know that the underlying condition OA is still there, but the improvement was worth the price. However, much what they said about losing weight and exercise to support your knee is what can make it a success. BTW I am 68 years old. Good luck!
I had hyaluronic injections once in 2016. It took about a month before it started feeling better, but then the positive effects seemed to last quite awhile, maybe a year. Just recently had corticosteroid injection 3 weeks ago. Significant improvement right away, hoping that the positive effects last awhile. Thanks for spending time on this topic.
Hi, I am a perfect example of taking hyalorunic acid. I had this treatment for the last 6 years, once a week for 5 weeks. Every 12 months I had this treatment and extremely happy. I am 75 years old! It works for me.
@TheSureshan thank you for answering. My friend is scheduled to get her shots in a few weeks and she hates needles. Took her 2 years to break down, and go get a steroid shot in her knee.
Two arthritic knees at 65 years. Was unable to play tennis and pickleball due to OA plus tendonitis. Tried the Glad physiotherapy before trying injections. I went from being able to walk 20 min without pain to over 1.5 hours. I walked 25,000 steps every day for a month and my pain was manageable. I don’t do the Glad exercises as frequently as I should, but I am able to do pickleball 2-3 times/ week now and hope to try tennis again in the spring. I no longer take NSAIDs. I also use recumbent bike for minimum 15 minutes 3-5 times week, it really helps! Really love your videos, keep them coming!
Great topic. My husband had 2 cortisone shots one Spring/Summer and what happened is it made it possible for him to get up and walk again, which then led to a 30 lb weight loss which has made the biggest improvement overall. His knees no longer bother him day to day, but he does have to be careful with his range of motion and some activities *climbing the mast*. He's 78 btw. Hearing about Hyaluronic acid *specifically adding some cortisone* is definitely something we will bring up when he feels he needs help again. Thank you so much, once again!!
Your educational videos have been a blessing to this nearly 68 year old. I had a cell (my own) implantation done 22+ years ago. I’ve been taking Cortizone injections that past 6 months. Keep up the good work. 👍🏻🤙🏻
Hey Docs, I live in St Louis, Missouri, USA. There is an orthopedic doctor here, that works mostly on shoulders. He uses a stem cell procedure with good success. He tells people his technique only seems to work on shoulders, and nothing else. I met one of his patients by accident. The old gentleman was very pleased with the outcome of stem cell injections for an arthritic shoulder. This was a very good video.
Thank you for this information. I'm 63, tore the meniscus in my left knee five months ago. While it's definitely better I do have osteoarthritis in both knees and my orthopedist told me injections can help and I have another appointment with him in a few weeks. I'll discuss with him the this video to see what he recommends. He did mention cortisone, hyaluronic acid and PRP. Now I feel like I have a much better understanding of them before seeing him.
I wish I knew all this informaiton about 2.5 years ago when I tore my menicus. We are so fortnutate to be updated and informed by these Doctors. It's always better to be informed of your medical treatment choices, before you go and see your Specialist. Wishing you all the best and be pain free and enjoy your quality of life.
@@Paul-vf2wl Since that post I've tried the gel and cortisone. Didn't help. I'm lap swimming now and that's helped more than they did. A nurse at my orthopedist said "motion is lotion" - basically even if it hurts you need to keep moving.
@@jeffmorse645 Walking certainly doesn't help I'm usually crippled for 2 days after any extended walking. It's pretty much swimming and inclined biking.
I used Hyaluronic injections for 12 years after injury n & arthritis. I had 7 month great pain relief ever year until year 12. Then knee was totally shot so getting replacement. But the injections worked beautifully for a long time. Mine was called Supartz
@@bobpugh7970 I'm actually getting them again in May, preventively. I hope I have the lengthy success you did, since my ortho told me I'll definitely need at least one replacement at some point. What I got was called Gelsyn.

Oh hell no,, no one's going to give me a shot in the knee... I was freaking out when I had to have my covid shot... although I don't feel any pain with an injection... they frighten me!!!! I feel stupid...
I get injections in my hip. They last about 4-6 months. I've been getting them for almost 10 years now. As a result I've avoided hip replacement so far. Thank you for all the great information on your channel.
I'm 51, very active. Skiing, Volleyball, and Biking. Skiing and Volleyball were getting almost too painful to still be enjoyable. Just had my first Cingal (hyaluronic acid + corticosteroid) injection this year with Dr. Deakon and it's made a noticeable difference in my pain. Thanks Dr. D!
I tore my ACL and meniscus on the job years ago and had surgery. I had one of the corticosteroid shots, I think, some time after the surgery. I had heard that they were painful!! My surgeon was so awesome, I didn't feel a thing!! All these years later, my knee isn't as bad as it could've been, thank goodness! I have some arthritis and I receive 'notifications' of incoming bad weather from my knee! 🤣 Thank you for the video, Doctors Z, W, & D! 😁
Drs. Zalal and Weening. All I can say is thank you! You give your advice and time to help us, unlike other “help” videos, that push money generators for the docs. You are to be commended for giving us so much when you are working so hard every day for the betterment of others.
I have osteoarthritis in both my knees, had PRP injections back in March 2023. I was pain free for 9 months. Just got a new injection today. This time the doctor used ultrasound to guide the needle. He claims that I should be good for about 12 months... 🤞
I destroyed my miniscus, and I have a bit of OA. I have had the H acid injection yearly for the past two years and it is amazing. I am 80% better than I was two years ago.
I had stem cells injections done in my knees and shoulders in Mexico on January 8th. The improvement I have seen has been incredible. I biked 5 miles today and am walking up and down stairs with no pain. My shoulders have also improved dramatically. I had 50 million stem cells taken from an umbilical cord injected into each joint. I had MRI’s done prior to the injections. I am going to ask for a second set of MRI’s this fall. I will upload both sets of MRI’s if you would like to take a look at the before and after results.
@@GregCurtis-xc2uv thanks for info. That's the only thing I haven't tried yet. My passport has expired so will try the stem cells here in the states 2weeks from now before going to Mexico.
Two plus years on PRP each six months for stage 3 bone on cartilage and it has been amazing. My running pace has diminished, but I can still run, which is a plus.
Thank you all. Eventhough I already have both knees replaced within ten years, I think what you explained would help so many others. I wished I‘d known all that before to ease my doubts …thank goodness I am fine today.
This was very helpful. I have had cortisone in both knees and HA in both knees. My right knee is bone on bone and after the initial HA therapy I did not see a great improvement until I did the Cortizone injection 3 months after completing the last HA injection. I’m not completely pain-free, but I’m at a livable place on the right knee. The left knee is still in a lot of pain and continues building a lot of fluid. I just completed final HA series. I’m about to do PRP injections in conjunction with Prolozone in both knees. Good info on the data of Cortizone with HA and also the Hope of the HA injections promoting the production of HA naturally. Also appreciate the info and support for PRP and the Hope of it working well with other injections. I’m only 57 so I’m trying to hold off on surgery as long as possible. Appreciation for your channel 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻
Had two shots of something almost a year ago. Could barely walk, and could not stand. They say it takes time but as soon as they put that axle grease in there, I was able to move and stand for short periods of time they still hurt and the stuff is wearing off, but I can only thank you guys for making that stuff because although it hurts, I’m still able to move around. For short period to get things done thank you.
@@sohairdib6755I had similar advice of using the gel on my knee 4 times a day at 1 gram per application. I just started a few days ago so I can’t tell if it helps as I am in a lot of pain. I was given a cortisone shot but no relief yet. The name of the gel is Diclofenac Sodium Topical Gel 1% and it has a dosing plastic card that shows the grams.
I am glad that I came across this video. I am currently recovering from a right hip replacement. Now I am having problems with my left knee. I had a cortisone shot in my knee 4 month ago and it helped relieve the pain that I was having. I'm due for another shot soon. Im trying to put off having knee replacement surgery until I'm fully recovered from my hip replacement. This video was very informative to me and I will have a few questions on my next doctor's visit. Thank you.
You can also talk about the stem cell or exosome injections that have been shown to reduce knee pain. It allows for a breathing space for the the thinning cartilage of the knee. There might be something more to discuss with your doctor on the next visit.
I had a knee injury (bumped it against a pole) five years ago. Tried physical therapy for two months. No relief from pain. Got one (cortisone/pain) knee injection. That one injection cured the problem. I was warned it will take time to work but I walked away from the doctors office pain free and the pain never came back. Knee is in good shape. I am 65 years old.
Getting cortisone shots every 3 months worked well but has worn off now. Knees are shot. Have lost over 100 lbs and they still hurt like the devil. Bone on bone and osteoarthritis plus hereditary is against me. Doing therapy using a walker and being 55 was not in my plan. I wish I could least walk normal again. There are worse than I so I try not to complain. Living everyday as it comes. Love your videos.❤
Just like on the racetrack. Thoroughbred trainers, (the greedy ones) do the quick cheaper fix by repeatedly injecting joints with steroids. They get maybe a couple of races more but then the joint is kaput. There are better choices. Yes they are more money but you don't lose the animal. One of them is Legend the other Adequan. They are beneficial. Legend is Hyaluronic acid. Adequan is PSGAG.
Thanks. I found out I have pretty bad knee arthritis in the L knee about 15 months ago, and so far have had 2 hyaluronic injections and a corticosteroid injection, all of which have helped quite a bit.
What type of specialist helped you? I'd like to know so I can get my mom family doctor to refer her. She has tried cortisone, but it has lost its efficacy over the years. We would both appreciate it.
I absolutely adore you guys!! I live in Alberta and had a partial knee replacement in 2011 had that removed and had a FULL replacement in 2012(at the age of 40) Yes I know I " was young" but I was SO bone on bone I was knock kneed and my quality of life SUCKED. July of 2022 I hAd my liner replaced. I would not change anything for the world!! Yes, I had to give up my sports in order to preserve the longevity of my replacement, but I had my quality of life and could actually go for walks with my sons... fast forward... at 50, I can now keep up with grandsons!! Life is great!
I’m 75 years and had my right knee replaced. I have worked very hard to save my left knee from surgery. I do have some pain in my left knee from time to time but I checked not used conventional medicine. I used castor oils for my pain at home, outside I get cupping and or acupuncture done twice a month. Others lifestyle changes I make is keeping my intake of meals which I cooked cleaned no outside stuff. Also, I walked two to ten miles daily each week which made me feel much healthier.
I have had cortisone injections in one of my knees every 8-9 months for the last 9 years, and this kept the atrocious pain at bay - until last year. The last 2 injections had no effect whatsoever, so my run of good luck is over. There was no gradual lack of relief, it just stopped working suddenly. I recently had open heart surgery and cannot take anti inflammatories anymore. My osteoarthritis is so bad that my bones are deformed, and I am scheduled to have a knee replacement in a few months as soon as my heart is strong enough. I was very lucky to be able to get complete relief for the last 9 years, but now it’s time for the operation as the pain is almost unbearable most of the time and I can’t stand for more than a few minutes. Regular pain medication barely dies anything. My “good” knee is also starting to hurt, as well as my hip, because I can’t walk properly and that is the most worrying as I don’t want to have to replace the other knee down the track
I had a total knee replacement 5 yrs ago. Over time, the other knee gave me pain. To avoid another surgery, I get Cortizone injections on occasion and they help immensely! The injection has very minimal pain. I love my Dr. I’m A 77 yr old female. 😊
If only more doctors were as generous as you in giving us viable alternatives we can do ourselves there might not we such a strain on our system. Of course weight loss, diet and exercise, don't smoke, less alcohol, we have known for ages but you go beyond that. Thanks so much.
Received HA injection treatment last year after being diagnosed with osteoarthritis. I have fortunately never experienced excruciating pain , just aching under the knee cap. Initially thought it was patellar tendon irritation from cycling. My condition has not worsened after the injections and I still have the aches on occasion but as was mentioned by the doctors, it is for comfort and slowing of the condition. I turned 60 at the end of last year and continue to exercise by cycling and weight training . I am hoping to prolong the possibility of succumbing to knee replacement. Thank you doctors for the video.
Started with cortisone injections in my thumb but then my knee got worse and I began injections in my left knee every 2-3 months. Somewhere around 1+ years ago, I displayed claudication on moderate exertion. That became the symptom that moved to the forefront for treatment. Arthritis was closing the passage for my nerves at L4-5, and I would have longterm, permanent damage if this problem was not resolved. Scheduled surgery and had laminectomy, spinal fusion and a spacer placed and then began recovery. My back healed, but was causing me pain. I resumed my cortisone injections in my knee but was getting frustrated with the lack of progress in my back. I figured that the two were related, the unsound knee was exacerbating the lack of progress in my back. Last month I had TKR and so far, along with PT, my back pain is easing and I feel like my recovery is back on track. So far, my thumb is behaving and is allowing me to focus on healing my back and knee.
Saw this comment recently "every surgeon should know how to do surgery, good surgeons know when to do surgery, great surgeons know when not to". See 7:35 for "when not to' comments. Good video Docs!
I had a torn meniscus and had arthroscopic surgery on it but still had pain - had the corticosteroid shot - helped for 1/2 a day - then they did gel injections (is that what hyaluronic acid injections are?) well - it took almost 6 weeks to see no pain but I woke up one morning and had no pain whatsoever - it has been over 9 years and this 65 year old LOVES the no pain knee! Thank you for this informative video!
15 years ago one of the orthopedic surgeons, told me I was going to need a knee replaced soon. I was in my 50's. I did some research and changed doctors. My new surgeon/ doctor told me about hydralonic acid injections after he cleaned by out some torn meniscus. Over the years, I've had about 4-5 sets of injections to both knees. I find they last me 12-20 months before I need them again. They work great for me, I exercise, do plates and yoga, and sometimes I try running for about 1-2 minutes. I do have pain from time to time, but with otc treatments, braces and ointments, and rest . I'm usually back to my old self in about a week. Oh, I'm 70's and refuse to have surgery, yet!!

So glad to find this channel and ALL the HELPFUL comments from patients. Today I called my osteo surgeon and cancelled my scheduled TKR! I had my surgery consult last week and got all the literature and scheduled appointments with PT, pre- and post surgery appts, lab appt, etc. It is too overwhelming for me. I live alone and although I have 2 grown adult kids who have their own families, I didn't want to impose on them for help, especially at the beginning of the recuperation period. I just don't think I can be home by myself for the first 2 weeks. I plan to have another series of 3 hyaluronic injections in a couple weeks, then PRP. Maybe I'll reschedule the TKR next year. One knee is bone on bone and the last hyaluronic injection was 6 months ago and did help. So maybe it'll be okay. The compression sleeve along with ice and ibuprofen are all helpful, although the bad knee sometimes wakes me up during the night throbbing.
Wow ….. 672k subs. It’s been awhile since I stopped in. You have to be proud of what your channel provides people. Good clear information from medical professionals. Thanks docs.
Dr Debeers my retired knee specialist. He advised synvisc and it’s cost was not covered so I payed out of pocket $500 and I was warned it could last a few weeks or months so I tried it and my luck 2 months only. And two many cortisol shots could lead to bone issues. So honestly I can’t wait for knee replacement. But I Thank you for this info so I can educate myself and talk to my new specialist about other options. Cause surgery can’t be for a few more yrs as it’s not advised before 65.
Unfortunately I have had a cortisone injection that didn’t do a thing, then I tried gel injection which also didn’t do anything. I have even tried radio frequency ablation. None of those treatments worked at all so now I have to go in for a revision total knee replacement on July 3rd. I had partial knee replacements done over ten years ago but one of them is worn out so now the last resort is a total knee revision on my knee. I have literally been through the ringer as far as my knees go. I’m really hoping that the total replacement will help a lot with my constant pain I’m in all day every day. Wish me luck on July 3rd when I have the surgery done. Love this channel I watch a ton of your videos
Because of my history of post-surgical infection, I try to avoid surgery like the plague. TKR is not an option until I run out of other options.. My arthritis was causing so much pain and discomfort last year, I was having difficulty sleeping because I couldn’t get comfortable without my knee hurting. I received my first shot of Synvisc in August, and my second injection two days ago. So far, so good. My knee isn’t “like new” and I still have to be careful to avoid stressing the knee too much, but the pain has significantly reduced, and sleeping is now not a problem.
I was told I’m bone on bone 6 years ago. Did the Synvisc injections and the second time had an allergic reaction. Plus they were 1000$ and injections every 6 months and insurance didn’t pay. I was a triathlete in the past…. Took out my bike and upgraded it, and never looked back. The biking has been the best for strengthening all the muscles. I use the Normatec on my legs every night . I’m pain free .
What is Normatec? Where can I get it? None of my doctors told me about it. I am not bone on bone at all, but I have a torn meniscus ( aggressive downhill skiing at 67:). They suggest total knee replacement...
What kind of allergic reaction did you have? Have you had reactions to other medications in the past? I wonder if it was to a preservative or another of so-called inactive ingredients.
@@Amanda-wv1sn My legs felt like they were on fire. Doesn’t make a difference if it was a reaction from the rooster comb, or additives and difficult to tell. I have no allergies. But I did not eat chicken for 6 months after thinking it was from the comb. If you Google reactions from synvisc , if you are going to have a reaction it’s not after the first injection
This makes me so happy to hear. Anyone that has seriously suffered from this knows how limiting arthritis can render a person. A win for one of us, puts hope in the rest of our hearts for sure! God Bless you and anyone reading !!
Did not have hyaluronic acid injections, but did have the TKR and I’m fine. No pain. I had both hips injected with steroids and they last about 4 months and just waiting for the time it does not work any more. In the meantime I will continue with the injections until told I can’t do anymore. Till then, I will watch your informative videos and enjoy learning new therapies. Thank you Dr’s D, Z, W

Hey Doctor's I had MRSA in my knee replacement after 5 years they did a clean out, I was on injections (antibiotics) for 6 weeks and still on antibiotic pills, my knee was doing good but now it's swollen. I am in a wheelchair so I don't get much leg movement. I broke my thigh bone and that's the reason I had a knee replacement. The doctor tied my thigh bone in a piece he added to the metal of the knee. The DR. and staff don't act to concerned but I am, I kicked the shit out of my spinal cord injury, then I was diagnosed with Stage 4 Cancer and it took everything I was made and more to overcome Radiation to my face and chemo. I have fought more battles than any human should have to and I had to beat a new path because I couldn't take the path of other survivors. My journey through life is a novel and I don't want to die at 60. My knee is swollen and ice doesn't have much effect. Do I need to see the DR. Now and force my will or should I see another Dr. That probably won't want to deal with the metal that's tied to thigh bone. Please help I hope you see this Thank you Dean
Thanks, I need this information right now. Both knees between stages 2-3 but really angered the left one ten days ago, received cortisone shot one week ago with little affect thus far and meet surgeon in two days. As long as they're not contra-indicated to each other. The integrative result can be, and most likely would be, synergistic, i.e. (1+1 > 2). Both of my knees (may be after walking in the dispensary for a few decades, and my over-weight body) have been X-rayed and my GP told me that I've "low level" of OA on my left knee, and "medium level" of OA on my right knee. I seldom use NSAID, never use Corticosteriod shot, no hyaluronic acid, nor platelet rich plasma. At least I don't need it yet, because I am using Red light (Shallow penetration into the skin, and Near Infrared therapy, deep penetration into the skin, even more than 1 cm), with a certain potency of course, which greatly increase blood flow to the area that I apply, which are the knees. I also take Chinese herbal, (Traditional Chinese Medicine), something that most people (that is educated in western modality like me) totally don't have a clue why they work. Bottom bottom line is that they do work. How? Via unblocking the Chi. Evidence? It helps tons of people, at least, for the last 5,000 years, and counting. That's that much I like to write on this loooooooooooooong comment here. Too much to say.
I am 67 years old, have been getting cortisone shots every 3 months, for roughly a year and a half, really helped at first, seems not as much now, in January they suggested a gel shot, which i got, but that seemed to help my pain relief for only like 4 weeks. Is the hyloronic acid shot, and the gel shot the same ? Going back to my doctor next week to see what the next step may be. Thanks, and also, love your video's...😊😊
Post arthtroscopy, I have tried it all; cortisone, PRP, hyaluronic acid. The only thing that works are GUIDED injections of hyaluronic acid on a biannual basis. It's a life-changer!

I recently saw an arrogant physiatrist who does HA injections in his office, not guided at all and he wanted to do one on my knee (stage 3 O/A). No way. I've read that in order for HA to be injected correctly/into the correct space, must be done either under fluoroscopy or ultrasound. How was your HA injection done, guided by ultrasound or fluoroscopy? Thanks
Thank you for your very informative videos. I have had both HLA and cortisone injections. I got greater relief from the cortisone which I was hesitant to take but glad I did. I learned see a good knee dr and don’t go to the arthritis clinics that are so popular.
My wife had stem cell injections done just under five years ago. It immediately helped her. But it seems to have lessened recently, but she was quite happy with the results until recently. The benefit has not completely disappeared - exercise seems to be help lessen the pain, so it seems as though there is some residual benefit.

I started the Genvisc (hyalurionic acid) injections when I was 65. It's been over seven years and I have so little knee pain now that I haven't needed an injection in almost two years.
Great information! I’ve had osteoarthritis for about 10 years (now 74) and I have had the occasional knee pain but recently after a family outing where the terrain was very slopey my right knee got very painfully irritated. It’s now been over 3 weeks and I cannot walk without the assistance of a walker or wheelchair. I got to see an orthopedic dr this week and pretty much the first thing he said was I needed to have a knee replacement! I told him no as I have heard that it is a painful procedure. I had to ask him if I could get a cortisone shot but he was very pessimistic about it helping me! I will be looking for another doctor. Thank you for the other 2 options besides cortisone shots as I want to do everything I can before even contemplating surgery.
I have been diagnosed with Osteoarthritis and have been referred to a specialist for treatment, but it’s a 3-4 month wait to get in. This is normal in Canada. Thank you so much for this information. Someone tried to talk me into doing the stemcell therapy. I didn't do it. I haven't had shots either. I'm a procrastinator. Will find a good Dr. (get my Dr to recommend one) and see what I can do. Too chicken to get knee replacements. I'm 66.
I started keto 1 week ago. Common sense told me that if I lost weight, pressure on my joints would ease and maybe they would not hurt as much. Lost 5 pounds already. May I ask you what you weighed before keto, what you weigh now, and if my initial weight loss is on target. Was 200, now 195. Want to be 180-185. Injection in my hip didn't work, so I am hesitant to get injection in knees. 65YO
I just had a cortisone injection in my left knee yesterday and already feels better. Several years ago had corticone injection in my right knee and have had no further problems. I keep moving everyday with some form of exercise which definately helps.
I'm 67 years old and have been getting cortisone shots in both my knees for years starting in 2009. Then in 2018 I received hyaluronic injections in both knees and on the third course my right knee swelled up, I got a fever and felt unwell. I contacted the doctor who did the injection, and I was told to go to the emergency room. There they drained fluid out of the knee and a surgeon opened up my knee to clean the medicine out. The fluid was tested to see if I had sepsis. I spent 5 days in the hospital because it took that long to test the fluid. Then when they sent me home, I was on a pic-line (with antibiotics) for 3 months. It was determined either I had a reaction to the third injection or the doctor who administered it caused it by pulling the needle out and then putting it back in my knee. (She came to the hospital to visit me with a get-well card, a box of chocolates and an apple). The hyaluronic injection in my other knee did nothing to help, I went back to getting cortisone shots and now I'm to the point where they do nothing. Now after getting a stress fracture because I'm bone on bone it's time for a replacement.
Really enjoy your videos! I have my Ortho Nurse-Practioner inject my knees with both cortocosteroids 2-3 times a year and hyaluronic acid just short of once a year. The hyaluronic acid used to be a single injection. He commented that I was his only patient to prefer the single injection. But the last time he injected the hyaluronic acid it was a series of three injections exactly a week apart. I was told by him that his office was no longer administering the single injection. I felt that the series of three injections was not as effective, to me, as the single injection. I would feel relief on about the fourth day whereas with the three it seemed to take longer, a month or more. I requested that he relay my comment to the person making that decision.
Sorry to hear that. We used to do lot of three injection series hyaluronic acid. We have almost completely changed over to the single injection for the last five years or so. Patients prefer it and it saves two visits.
about 15 years ago my physician diagnose with arthritis from neck to the tip of the toes. I needed both knees needed replaced I waited several years for the good will of a surgeon to do something . In the mean time I tried acupuncture which temporarily, massage, physio etc.most theses method temporarily helped. That one injection cured the problem. I was warned it will take time to work but I walked away from the doctors office pain free and the pain never came back. Knee is in good shape. I am 65 years old.
Until you can regenerate cartlige it's all a waste of time and money.
@skapur I love a success story, I hope you stay pain-free forever ❤
Why not get a TKR?
Have a blood clotting issue and a high risk.
@@isabelandujar9736 at age 55 docs don't recommend it either. The knee replacements will last 20-30 years. Past my lifespan since I got mine at 70.
Cortisone dries your bones ask any physio therapist!
Had PRP on my tennis elbow in 2017- truly helped me!
No experience with it on my knees .

Life is great!
you will need another replacement within your lifespan.
That is awesome. Thanks for sharing
I have been getting injections for the last 10 years. They work for me.
Hallo, what type exactly?
I’m 75 years and had my right knee replaced. I have worked very hard to save my left knee from surgery. I do have some pain in my left knee from time to time but I checked not used conventional medicine. I used castor oils for my pain at home, outside I get cupping and or acupuncture done twice a month. Others lifestyle changes I make is keeping my intake of meals which I cooked cleaned no outside stuff. Also, I walked two to ten miles daily each week which made me feel much healthier.
Just massage your knee with Castor oil ?
Had several acid injections. Helped a lot, lost about 70 lbs, exercise regularly, no knee pain!
Hang in there. I've talked to people with both knee replacements and their main complaint was that they waited so long to have the procedure done.
PRP Injections worked wonders for me!
I had a total knee replacement 5 yrs ago. Over time, the other knee gave me pain. To avoid another surgery, I get Cortizone injections on occasion and they help immensely! The injection has very minimal pain. I love my Dr. I’m A 77 yr old female. 😊
had stem cell therapy 2 years ago in lieu of knee replacement may knee is absolutely perfect now better than the other knee replacement
Interesting
I’m intrigued by stem cell therapy. How did you find someone who’s reputable? Thanks!
What kind of stem cells - from your body or from umbilical cord blood?

If only more doctors were as generous as you in giving us viable alternatives we can do ourselves there might not we such a strain on our system. Of course weight loss, diet and exercise, don't smoke, less alcohol, we have known for ages but you go beyond that. Thanks so much.
Ive had hyaluronic acid in both knees and sometimes it lasts for years! Its the best for me. Had cortisone also but didn't last too long.
That is a lot to go through in a short time. When was your spine surgery, and may I ask your age? I wish you the best.

Yes Hyaluronic acid is the gel. So glad to hear it worked

Welcome and thanks
Love this channel I watch a ton of your videos
gOOD LUCK FOR your surgery!!!

Please help I hope you see this
Thank you Dean

I am a retired, but one of a kind pharmacist. I believe in Integrative therapy. Meaning, using different modalities, western, eastern, Indian and whatever.

Finally I had several PTP injections the first one in the left knee about 8 years ago. 2nd in the right foot and last December in the right shoulder . in my case the PRP injections worked the pain is definitely gone and my mobility has improved so I would certainly recommend.
