    Hey Subi. Could you please describe in detail the measurements you make on the crankshaft and then in the crankcase tunnel please? Are you checking for the same measurement or to check if its perfectly round? A video to explain would be great! 👍

    Great video it cleared my mind on the last minute I'm Buildings a ej25 new pistons and polished crank because the machinist said it was good. And the other day when I finished I was turning the crank and I heard that roar noise as the pistons travel in and out... I thought something was wrong haha.

  • @jamesgraves3771
    @jamesgraves3771 4 ปีที่แล้ว

    Very good and meticulous. Only big no-no I was not checking the main and rod bearings when compressed to torque spec (yes, it is actually how bearings are suppose to be measured). Also I'd say the shop measuring equipment used is far flashier and extravagant than required. Bolt stretch gauge in lieu of torque isn't really applicable at the HP this engine can put out. Nothing wrong with going above and beyond though if able. Good work!

    Great video! I recently had the short block replaced in my 2009 Subaru Forester XT due to excessive oil burning. A week after I got my car back from my Subaru dealership, I can still smell the oil. Is it because the new parts are still breaking in or the job wasn't done right? Thank you for your time.

    • @leukota
      @leukota 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      If it's not second hand, lay off the throttle so much. Subarus go through oil, the older they get the more they burn. You'd have to pull the pistons out and replace the rings to mitigate the oil consumption.

    • @darrenwells7216
      @darrenwells7216 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      OK so he measured everything didnt actually adjust anything and then put it together. he just blueprinted. If you buy a new crank. Use a good condition case halves. Buy quality brand new rods. quality engine bearings. have the machine shop set your piston to wall clearance to the pistons you bring in. itll work.

    • @30minutesLess
      @30minutesLess 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      ZeddyThaMaster I think it has to be balanced according to the Pistons weight. I was told all cars are balanced in the sense to maintain well at low Rpms. It’s when your gonna be running high rpms for long periods of time is when a pure balancing act is needed.

    Weird question: can I use a WRX / STI EJ257 shortblock with the EJ253 SOHC? Can you foresee any issues with mating things up? I figure all I'd have to do is swap in a WRX subframe cross member into a 2.5i chassis and then it would open up a lot of opportunities. I do not want to swap in a full WRX engine with DOHC heads (and wiring). I just thought since my engine has over 200k miles on it I could stick a tougher block in and maybe turbo it for the lulz. I'm sketchy on what might not line up. I know the oil sump and pan might cause an issue?
