I'm sitting here binge watching all of your videos lol... I am going for my first rather large tattoo session this coming Saturday & I just want to let you know that you are a lovely artist, you're very informative, and are so very pleasant to watch!!! I definitely subscribed, can't wait to see what videos you make in the future!! :)
Yes bepanthen has lanolin aka sheep's wool fat (or something) & I just this before I became vegan so I had to try something else. Now I used hustle butter for a full color tattoo which I got a week ago and so far I really love it! Even way more than bepanthen :P it has healed so much faster in my experience, it's almost done peeling :)
Loving the content as always Holly! Got my next sitting on my arm in 3 weeks, so it'll be my second day session on it! Really clueing up again on aftercare! I saw your tour that you're coming to Chester? That's my hometown, currently live in Notts but Chester is always home!
Bepanthan suffocated my skin and made my pores into red itchy dots, took a lot of experimentation to find the best thing for my skin. Pure coconut (thinly applied) works great!
Alexandra Griffin same and I have a lot of tattoos (full sleeve, foot, back, etc). I have read a lot and suffocating the tattoo seems to be a major problem.
I use Bepanthen in the first two weeks and then Palmers afterwards which is my normal skin care. And I always get 3-5 days off work after the tattoo so I don't have to worry about aggravating the tattoo and not being able to look after it. I've never heard of keeping the clingfilm on over night. I've always been told (by several artists over the years) to take it off within an hour or so and give it a gentle wash.
Personally I have used Savlon Cream to heal the last couple of tattoos that I have gotten and it works great for me. Just goes to show that she really isnt wrong when she says different things work for different people. I used pure cocunut oil on my last one for at my artists recommendation and found out im allergic to it lol.
When getting a tattoo , should you keep it wrapped for the night and avoid having a shower until the next day or should you just keep it covered in the shower as well? (Btw binge watching your videos , im obsessed)
😟 I’ve been advised to use savlon , I got my first tattoo on Thursday morning, but il try coconut oil after week 1 or 2. That’s the thing wen u get asked to use something that’s on the don’t use list. It makes u question it and feel as if your gonna ruin your tattoo but like u say it’s all about your artists opinion!!!!
Hello Holly, good aftercare video. Question have you ever used the tegaderm way to heal tattoos, it the way I heal tattoo and it stops all scabbing and the dryness and peeling is minimum.
I'm three days after my tattoo today and I'm wondering when to start using an aftercare product? So far all I have been doing is using unscented Spectro gel in the shower to wash it and then pat drying it. The aftercare products I bought are Aquaphor and Unscented lubriderm. If I don't feel the need to use anything yet is that better? Should I hold off from using anything for as long as possible? As of right now I don't feel the need to use anything because it is not extremely itchy, it just looks a bit leathery right now.
Palmer better has palm oil in results in deforestation and harms animals to get the oil. Just letting ya know if ya use that brand. Coconut oil is great tho xx
I'm going in for my first tattoo session on the 3rd! Less than a week to go! I have a question though. How I can I reduce the amount of ink loss while I'm healing?
I just got a tattoo two days ago and my tattoo artist applied saniderm bandages on my tattoo and told me to keep it on for four days..now I know that tattoo artist knows best but something is telling me to go back to my old routine which is the soap and moisturizer way...what should I do?
Alan Katz sun cream! UV light can really strip and dulls the colour so you want to keep it protected as much as you can with sun cream, even on those sunny, but not boiling hot days. Normal day to day, just keep your skin nice and moisturised. Hope that helps!
The artist of my first tattoo recomended bepanthen, so i have always used that. Theres different types of it. For my tattoos i use the thicker cream one, and for my baby's butt i use the softer cream haha :p Worked perfect for me, just had to make sure to use a very thin layer of it. And all my tattoos have healed perfectly afaik :D
From everything I've heard a tattoo should not be wrapped in cling film because it's not sterile and can invite contamination. I've heard that a sterile bandage is best for a few hours before you wash it. I'm not an expert but this is what I'm hearing
Don't know if this helps, but from my experience Dream Cream is very rich, maybe too rich to put on a fresh tattoo. So I use a cream specially for fresh tattoos the first 1,5 weeks or so (I use Easytattoo by Médical Body Art btw, don't know if it's vegan though), and when most of the peeling's done I start using Dream Cream - which I also use as my all-over body lotion. Other good (vegan) options could be TattooMed After Tattoo cream or Tat2Butter Vegan Tattoo Salve. I've also heard of people liking Lush's Ultrabalm.
Does anyone use Tattoo Goo ? It's great for itching so it's manly all I use but I haven't heard anyone else talk about it so I don't know how good it really is or if it's bad for me in some way. Any advice would be appreciated.

i get that with tattoo goo, makes me super spotty!
I should have done a patch test as I hadn't used it before, swear I lost more coloured ink than I should have in healing because of it ☹️
I always take my plastic wrap 2 hours after away. Wash it with warm water and let it airdry. Then always bepanthen. Works the best for me
Alexandra Griffin same and I have a lot of tattoos (full sleeve, foot, back, etc). I have read a lot and suffocating the tattoo seems to be a major problem.
Bepanthen suffocates the tattoo
Moa balm, wow amazing stuff healed my last tattoo 90% within a week. No scabbing barely any itching. It's a mixture of yarrow and coconut oil.
I use Bepanthen in the first two weeks and then Palmers afterwards which is my normal skin care. And I always get 3-5 days off work after the tattoo so I don't have to worry about aggravating the tattoo and not being able to look after it.

follow the advice your tattoo artist gives you and you'll be fine

How about once the tattoo is healed? What do you suggest doing in order to keep the tattoo vibrant?

Tattoos&Lipstick Thank you!!!
I'm late to the party but when can I start having baths or showers with my new tattoo? xxx

Sounds like you know it all! You should start a TH-cam channel.
I am currently looking into vegan alternatives to Bepanthen and am considering Dream Cream by Lush. Is it something you would recommend?
ive not tried it personally but ive heard its great!

What are your thoughts on tatuderm for healing?
I've never used it!
Holly Astral what about Lush Dream Cream ?

Some people like it but for me personally it makes me spotty
