Something many first-time viewers miss: When Kyle tells her about the picture, he says he always wondered what she was thinking about at that moment. In the end, when the picture is actually taken, we find out she was thinking about him. :)

This was what James Cameron managed to do with almost no budget... 10 million was all the studios would commit to the project, so he did the best he could. But this became such a smash hit that the second one was instantly afforded more than 100 million dollars. And it became one of the biggest hit movies of all time. And with one of the best written female action heroes of all time.

Michael Biehn who plays Reese has stated multiple times in interviews that he really fell in love with Linda Hamilton while making this movie. Sounds like she felt the same way. But they were both married to other people and never hooked up. So, that's probably why they have such good chemistry.

Sarah is a classic heroine because she is feminine, not the sort of pseudo-man that so many 2010+ female characters are. She doesn't fight the Terminator, she doesn't belittle Kyle, she isn't battling toxic patriarchs. Sarah Connor will be an icon long after the pseudo-men females are forgotten.

Yeah, it's a bit weird that the "cyborg face" look much better when Arnold's in the truck compared to when he was standing in front of the mirror. The latter scene always bothered me, even when I saw the film for the first time back in the 80's. Anyway, thanks for reacting to this iconic film!

  • @Stevarooni
    @Stevarooni ปีที่แล้ว

The Terminator looks better in the cab of the truck than when he was doing eye surgery because the former was makeup on Schwarzenegger rather than a complete robotic head. The uncanny valley was deep in the 80s, with robots.

'If there's going to be a second movie then that means...' Unlike today, in 1984 films were made individually and not written to serve the idea of a franchise. Franchises were rare back then. So whenever you have a thought like that, especially for 20th century films, you should cast it from your mind, since it is not how they were thinking when they made the movie.

He plays Corporal Hicks opposite Sigourney Weaver's Ellen Ripley character. Michael Biehn has also been in the movie, "Tombstone." He has the final shoot out with Doc Holladay played by Val Kilmer. Great reaction. I liked that you thought at first that Arnold might be a good guy hero. Terminator 2 is definitely worth watching. The other Terminator films are not as good. I don't know if Cameron haf considered a sequel from the start. This film was an unexpectedly big hit. But there are little things in the Terminator that makes the sequel plausible. Also, when Sarah says "On your feet, soldier," she is showing signs of being a leader. It is a nice character building touch. This was unusual for a genre action film, and what sets Terminator apart from more standard action movies.

For Terminator 2 - Judgment Day, I recommend watching the Special Edition rather than the more streamlined Theatrical Cut. Reasons for that, more humor scenes, more character development, more dramatic scenes,, more conflict between John and Sarah to be resolved, the chip removal scene and its implications, Terminator malfunctions, all pretty relevant, even if they slightly slow the movie down, as the theatrical version is more action focused. There's still all the action scenes but I feel, it has a slightly more complex story and slightly heavier themes and more focus on humanity and what it means to be human. There is still some of that in the regular theatrical cut, but it's glossed over quickly, focusing nore on the action, while Special Edition takes it time, making the story more impactful. I do not recommend the other extented cuts, as they restore the original schmaltzy ending, which was removed even from theatrical version. I prefer the simple open end, which was still hopeful, but did not feel pampering and out of place.

Also, back in the 80's the Hispanic population and influence was significantly less than it is today. I'm sure many of us hadn't heard a Spanish word in our lives. Por favor.

Watch the sequel Judgment Day. Then never watch another Terminator movie ever again! They are all senseless, meaningless cash grabs after that.

Terminator 2 is a must if u like the first one. They are both great movies in their own way. Anything after the 2nd movie is just hollywood making money on a franchise.

I highly recommend watching the extended version of Terminator 2: Judgement Day (1991) with the definitive ending. There's absolutely nothing wrong with that version and adds context that was originally taken out, don't listen to anyone that says otherwise.
Fun Fact: One afternoon during a break in filming, Arnold Schwarzenegger went into a restaurant in downtown L.A. to get some lunch and realized all too late that he was still in Terminator makeup - with a missing eye, exposed jawbone and burned flesh.
Juice Dodged Fact: O.J. Simpson was considered for the Terminator, but the producers feared he was "too nice" to be taken seriously as a cold-blooded killer. Ironic.
Director Cameo Fact: Near the beginning of the movie, when Sarah Connor (Linda Hamilton) receives a message on her answering machine breaking her date, the voice on the machine is James Cameron's.

The part that you got wrong was your assumption that Los Angeles police need a good reason to confront a person. Based on that alley scene, the guy was lucky to escape a police beating.

if you dont know now you know - james cameron barely wrote terminator and was sued for plagiarism by the prolific sci-fi author Harlan Ellison for an episode of the Outer Limits and a short story he wrote called Soldier - cameron denies the accusation but the proof is in the pudding - the studio paid Ellison money and put him in the credits so if you think he's a great writer rethink it

How much did he allegedly steal? I assume the premise and maybe some plot points? Copyright infringement is bad! And yet it still takes skills to write and fleah-out compelling characters, dialog, story in between plot points...
