- In this video, my roommate will be reacting to her first time watch of "The Terminator" from 1984. This is a sci-fi slasher classic that made a star!
ABOUT
Disguised as a human, a cyborg assassin known as a Terminator (Arnold Schwarzenegger) travels from 2029 to 1984 to kill Sarah Connor (Linda Hamilton). Sent to protect Sarah is Kyle Reese (Michael Biehn), who divulges the coming of Skynet, an artificial intelligence system that will spark a nuclear holocaust. Sarah is targeted because Skynet knows that her unborn son will lead the fight against them. With the virtually unstoppable Terminator in hot pursuit, she and Kyle attempt to escape.

In Kyle's defence regarding his "innocence" he DID grow up in a post apocalyptic world. Am sure the dating scene would've been a nightmare. Food for thought 🤔
When she crawled leading the Terminator through the crusher, she knew what it was. If you remember, when they first got into the factory, and she accidentally set it off, she looked which button she had hit, and what it could do. It basically foreshadowed the end of the evil itself.
So glad you're reacting to this movie and Robocop. I know it is a stretch from the usual horror, but terminator is a horror film in its atmosphere and plot. The T-800 is a monster, and such a thing, if it really existed, would be terrifying.

Before Arnold Schwarzenegger played the role of the titular character, OJ Simpson was considered to play the role of the Terminator, but James Cameron changed his mind saying, "He's too much of a nice guy to play the role of a ruthless killer."😳🤦
Tom Selleck, Lance Henriksen, Sylvester Stallone, and Mel Gibson were considered for the part as well.
Bruce Springsteen, Michael O'Keefe, Tommy Lee Jones, Christopher Reeve, Sting, Treat Williams, Scott Glenn and Matt Dillon were considered for Kyle Reese.
Lisa Langolis, Lea Thompson, Jennifer Jason Leigh, Jessica Harper, Melissa Sue Anderson, and Rosanna Arquette were considered for Sarah Connor.

I'd love to see 2 different alternate universes where things ended another way. In the first, Sarah gets away from the factory and the Terminator has to crawl the rest of his existence with no legs, no skin, no ability to blend in. The other version, Arnold kills Sarah and then he has nothing to do. He can't go back to the future and isn't sure what to do next. He joins the army to kill but hates that there's restrictions on who he's allowed to. Not driven by assignment of murder, he eventually gets obsessed with flower arrangement and it's logical yet creative discipline. Both versions would be compelling but strange shorts
1. Linda Hamilton ROCKED. She's really built in T2. Must watch next.
2. Along with Lance Henriksen/Vukovich and Michael Biehn/Reese also played in Aliens as Bishop and Hicks respectively.
3. It's ok for chicks to admire his butt.😍
4. If this wasn't a movie the ammunition would not have been available on the gun shop counter.
5. Ginger's boyfriend Matt must be a lousy lay if she needs rock and roll to "rock and roll".🙄
6. Watching people react to the eye operation is worth watching this all by itself.

One thing you gotta give the 80s. They knew how to film sex scenes back then.
The reason The Terminator didn't continue pursuing Sarah after the car wreck, was because he had been pretty badly damaged, i.e. his one arm wasn't functional and had one eye damaged and most likely obscuring his robotic eye. He knew they were going to be arrested and where to find them once he was fixed up, so you can't really knock this movie for that scene.

Usually first think Bishob from Aliens but do love Millennium, pity series was cancelled before proper ending, Unless you count crossover with X-files which is fun episode with zombies.

Well his vision was obscured and the hand was damaged, it's not entirely unbelievable that he chose to escape
Funny you should mention “horror elements”: James Cameron once mentioned Halloween (1978) as an influence for The Terminator.

Fantastic film. The franchise is downhill after this. As I often say, the only Terminator film I need in my movie collection. As you alluded to, there is definitely horror components to it.
the love angle really helped between Sara and Kyle. Part 2 showcased Robert Patrick well but I found they made the villian more exciting then the leads and that defeated the purpose
