You do realise that "the ban" didn't really affect their laptops right? As these do not have Huawei specific "dangerous" hardware/software in them, it's just the telecommunication equipment that was the problem. Also, stop buying into the fear mongering, Huawei was a massive threat for the Samsung-Apple duality in the NA market, that's all there's to it.
Couple of things: 1) For some reason the make Lew reviewed is the 2019 version but it came in a 2018’s box so the specs he listed are a year old. Probably b/c it’s a review unit. This has a i7-8565U with 16GB RAM and 1TB storage (vs i7-8550U/16/512). 2) He didn’t mention the touchscreen capability! So much value considering the 3K resolution and above specs, especially vs. Apple counterparts.
Mainly cus it was obviously not a new unit. Look at the way the plastic was (re-)wrapped around the laptop, companies dont do that. And after his first touch the laptop was already full of fingerprints. Happened before too, not everything he unboxes is freshly new

I have been using this particular model as a work & everyday use laptop and I am pretty amazed of how good it turns out to be. The keyboard is practically perfect when you take into consideration the way the keys are positioned, the travel and size of keys. They did an amazing job with the touch screen display. Camera is good when you really need to use it, which I don't really have need for it and find it amazing the fact that they decided to make it a flip key camera because of privacy issues and concerns. The only downside people may have with the keyboard layout is the up & down arrow keys but when you have a touch screen display so responsive as this you really have no problem. Battery is really good. Its an incredible machine. I would not change it and if I ever do is going to be for a newer model because Huawei is really going into the right direction of in the electronics business. Display, keyboard, specs, just amazing.
How, Cameras work is that they have to match the entire lighting in the room or the screen would be blown out or all white, if it was all the way up the brightness would just blend as white.
@ Oh ok thanks, I didnt know it was a seal of quality. I went on Dolby's website and they said mobile devices that are marked Dolby Atmos "Sound System" are for a seal of quality. I only knew of the traditional Dolby Atmos which adds dimension by taking advantage of speakers mounted above.
If you count the keyboard and all in the body that mistake is probably close. Lol. Tbh, it cant have more than 50% anyway unless the keyboard is also a screen.

Lew you got to review the XPS 13 2 in 1 2019 (7390). It's the first one with Intel's 10th gen mobile processors and Dell, just like HP, has replaced the clamshell lineup with 2 in 1's. That's an elegant device. It also has a magnetic keyboard that you might wanna try.
I changed my macbook pro for it and im competely satisfied. He literally said everything i told myself when i decided to change it... Plus it has a Nvidia GPU!!!!!! that he forgot to mention!!
@8:30 You saying that the screen could be brighter. I have the previous model and it's superbright, your brightness most likely set to lowest. Also the backlit keyboard is a little bit weird, if you are not using/ pushing any of the keys the light goes off, if you touch any of them lights up again, imo it is pretty useful feature to save battery power. Not to mention the quality of this thing, its just amazing. Edit: @8:55 the brightness deffinitely set to low.
very poor and limited review. not using it at full brightness (not in auto..to show its full capabilities)...not mentioning the peripherals that has in the box (dongles)... not even mention that it has a touchscreen (cause you are used to lame macs)... unbox therapy needs to make quality reviews again!. 😒

Watching this on a Matebook X Pro 2018 version. Despite this lack of Huawei Share function, but so far, I am happy with this laptop. Long lasting battery, good typing experience, awesome audio and visual product. I use this daily as my work laptop.
I want that laptop sooo badly.. its just like mine but instead of 940MX which is weak, this thing has the 150mx that's much better, a ton better CPU and 500 gigs of SSD. If im almost fine with 200gigs, im sure ill be sweet with a 500G one.

I have this laptop. I wanted to buy a MAC at first，but it was so expensive，so I bought Huawei instead. It's around $900 cheaper than Macbook pro in my country. I really love the camera design, cause I always covered the cemera of my laptops for a long time, especially after watching Blackmirror I thought I made a right choice, let alone I never used a laptop camera before. Then the touchscreen is really convenient and the 3K display is very fabulous which you didn't mention.

Missed some pretty important points that make it really stand out from a MacBook: - Touchscreen - MX150 graphics on the 2018 model can actually handle recent games. 2019 model is even better. - SSD can easily be upgraded. - Similarly, the battery can easily be replaced if required. - Much better port selection than the MB Air. Apple really need to up their game. I for one will never buy another Apple product until they stop their anti-consumer bullshit.
John Costa as someone who’s used both, I beg to differ. macOS is simply a better os than windows currently. Microsoft have been employing unfair tactics to keep gaining marketshare, but now, they’re finally getting what they deserve- lower market share forcing them to get creative. This is the reason why most people are turned off to macs. They don’t feel comfortable using it and would much rather have something they have used their entire life. It looked like there was a far bigger difference in the brightness with the Macbook Pro than just 450 vs 500 nits? Especially as higher nits are harder to discern the higher up you go. Maybe there was some Intel display power savings going on.
Ive had the Mateboox Pro for about 9 months. Love it. Wanted a uni-body design with the ability to INSTALL Linux. Its a perfect option. The power button being a finger print reader is amazing.
I managed to purchased a Matebook X Pro whilst in the States in October last year. It is a brilliant piece of kit. The launch time is super fast with that finger print/power button in a one touch motion. The display is fantastic, super bright, excellent colours and crisp detail. On the plus, not covered here, is it is a touch screen too! Forget the noise in the media about Huawei, they produce fantastic quality products at a much more reasonable price. Get this laptop if you can.

holy shit dude it's on the auto-brightness mode, the Huawei is decreasing brightness as to not damage your eyes, the laptops come with light sensors
Watching this on a Matebook X Pro 2018 version. Despite this lack of Huawei Share function, but so far, I am happy with this laptop. Long lasting battery, good typing experience, awesome audio and visual product. I use this daily as my work laptop.
I want that laptop sooo badly.. its just like mine but instead of 940MX which is weak, this thing has the 150mx that's much better, a ton better CPU and 500 gigs of SSD. If im almost fine with 200gigs, im sure ill be sweet with a 500G one.

I have this laptop. I wanted to buy a MAC at first，but it was so expensive，so I bought Huawei instead. It's around $900 cheaper than Macbook pro in my country. I really love the camera design, cause I always covered the cemera of my laptops for a long time, especially after watching Blackmirror I thought I made a right choice, let alone I never used a laptop camera before. Then the touchscreen is really convenient and the 3K display is very fabulous which you didn't mention.
When you want the look of a MacBook but actually want to game and do creative work

Missed some pretty important points that make it really stand out from a MacBook:
- Touchscreen
- MX150 graphics on the 2018 model can actually handle recent games. 2019 model is even better.
- SSD can easily be upgraded.
- Similarly, the battery can easily be replaced if required.
- Much better port selection than the MB Air.
Apple really need to up their game. I for one will never buy another Apple product until they stop their anti-consumer bullshit.
Apple have a much better os, in my opinion. Thats need to be considered too, because you pay for that too. The price isn’t only on hardware. At all.

John Costa as someone who’s used both, I beg to differ. macOS is simply a better os than windows currently. Microsoft have been employing unfair tactics to keep gaining marketshare, but now, they’re finally getting what they deserve- lower market share forcing them to get creative. This is the reason why most people are turned off to macs. They don’t feel comfortable using it and would much rather have something they have used their entire life. Most of these people are the ones that wrote comments like yours simply because they’ve never tried it and take other people’s word for it .

It looked like there was a far bigger difference in the brightness with the Macbook Pro than just 450 vs 500 nits? Especially as higher nits are harder to discern the higher up you go. Maybe there was some Intel display power savings going on.
He had the brightness turned down for some reason. I have the Matebook X Pro, and the screen is SUPER bright. I have to turn down the brightness

Ive had the Mateboox Pro for about 9 months. Love it. Wanted a uni-body design with the ability to INSTALL Linux. Its a perfect option. The power button being a finger print reader is amazing.

I managed to purchased a Matebook X Pro whilst in the States in October last year. It is a brilliant piece of kit. The launch time is super fast with that finger print/power button in a one touch motion. The display is fantastic, super bright, excellent colours and crisp detail. On the plus, not covered here, is it is a touch screen too!
Forget the noise in the media about Huawei, they produce fantastic quality products at a much more reasonable price. Get this laptop if you can.

@Jordan Moir Wake up, 2019 and we still can't build a laptop let alone a thin and light or anywhere near the tiny size of the Huawei Matebook. Not everyone is looking for a laptop or a gaming laptop. If you want to build a custom one then start raising money for your project on kickstarter or something to pay for the employees you need to build you the custom parts and software.
I got one of this for a couple of months and it performs great, great quality, screen , track pad, 9 out of 10
