As a youngster in the 80s you would hear Genesis or Phil Collins himself on the radio everywhere with so many great songs. He has such a unique voice. So very talented. It's like everything he touched was gold back then.

What's the story? I like most of the songs on "We Can't Dance".
It's such a catchy tune it was stuck in my head for awhile
I wanna say that the band members didn't much like the song because it was too simple for their usual style. It wasn't until the quirky percussion was added that they were all sold on it.
There might have been a bright spot in that this song/video itself were fun to make, albeit not enough to stop what was upcoming.

Literally one of Genesis' most signature tracks, and one that makes the album stand out so much, and glad it's in this order, with the other 4 iconic tracks on top of it. So iconic, and catchy, a track that'll get stuck in your head for years to come, and I can honestly say this. Truly one of a kind Genesis and Phil is. Legends.

Genesis was one of the best bands of all times. Phil Collins was one of the hugest entertainers of all time. Went to a few of his concerts I raised my kids on Genesis and Phil Collins. Including all genres of music. To this day if a Phil Collins song comes on the whole family sings along. Thank you, and please keep pushing your music forward the youth today needs great music again.!!!!!!!!!!🎼🎵💕

I think people overlook that these guys had a great sense of humor. While they were amazingly talented musicians they had fun with it all. This is a rocking tune, but at it's heart....it's comic relief.Same with Jesus He Loves Me. I love this band.I get the feeling people want 'prog' musicians to be serious.I think silly is good sometimes.

Josh Johnson You dont keep up with music do you? Phil Collins is finishing up the "not dead yet" tour. 2019 he is touring with his genesis band. Couple of new songs have already been recorded .
OML That Guy yes I do keep up with music. Phil Collins left Genesis in March 1996 to focus on his solo career. He formed the Phil Collins Big Band with himself on the drums. The band performed six jazz renditions of songs Genesis and his solo career. His sixth solo album Dance into the Light was released in October 1996. Now Phil Collins due to the fact a lot of people thought he was dead rejoined with Genesis and is now doing a tour for old times sake.

Crazy to think this is the same guy that gave us the Tarzan soundtrack, that sick drum fill in “in the air tonight”, plus the song it’s self is pretty good, the greatest cover of the “can’t hurry love” by the supremes ever made, and of course, his best work: genesis. Phil Collins has so much range that if he made a metal band or started a rap career in 2022 and it was amazing none of us would be surprised

I wore this song out on cassette in my mom's Oldsmobile, and I still love it. I play it for my 2 year old son and he starts dancing to it, pretty sure I got him hooked on Phil!

Have you gone back to the genesis of Genesis yet? When Peter Gabriel was the lead singer and Phil the drummer? Then Peter’s solo stuff after he left Genesis, and Phil so more than ably took over the singing as well as the drumming?

@@brayleeclark5593 that’s cool! I just wasn’t sure if you had heard the earlier Genesis albums too. Phil Collins was an integral member of Genesis then too. So that’s still Phil Collins, and The Lamb Lies Down on Broadway is really a must have album.
