Looks like a very clean example! One point to note: Yes...the GLHS had 174hp stock, but when you simply swapped out the factory ECU for Shelby's "Stage II" ECU the power increased to 200hp. Most people put the stage II computer in them, so most running around in the mid to late 80's were "at least" 200hp...which may not sound like a lot but when you compare it to others in that same era 200hp (in a 2,400lb car) was serious business!!
No kiddin either! I wasn't from that era but I've seen lots of cars from the time that had significantly less power. 200hp out of a little car like this? A monster, even by todays standards!
I The first thing I did with my 1987 CSX #223 was swap in the Stage II. That was a sweet car. Handled like a dream for a fwd. I competed in SCCA autocross and did well in that car. It danced through the cones that Mustangs and Camaros ate.
I remember reading about these cars in magazines back in the day. Looks like they go as well as they said they did.

I had an 87 dodge omni and loved its gas milage and it had good take off.
My dad had a regular Omni in two tone blue. Not a great car.
Are you interested in one for restoration?
I might be depending on how much restoration it needs. Get a hold of me.
