Good job with the design, this was fun to watch both as a coffee lover and ux student. I use dolce gusto and had similar problems with their site. Switching my mind from a consumer to a creator, I've been trying to look at apps and sites I use from a UX point of view then write down pain points and send suggestions to the company. It would be great to see a longer length video like this (similar to a study with me format) where you take us through your design thinking process while you work.
Hi Rachel... you did a great job and i love your video!.. so i would love to ask if you can make a tutorial to built this Nespresso page as you did i it step by step please ? It will help to understand better the UX design here... and help for UI. Thank you so much for your reply.
your videos are great , thank you . ideally if you can make a long video ( 2 hours ) to teach us deeply how you are designing a pro web page ( UX/UI) . thank you Rachel . :)
You did such a great job of preserving the Nespresso branding in your redesign! I see so many people tackle a UX redesign and try to make improvements on the branding, but I think it's much more valuable to show that you can understand and interpret an existing brand into a new layout.
Youre a huge inspiration to me as Im currently transitioning into UX! Thank you for your content I really appreciate your content and can’t wait to see more!
yo i have tried to do the same thing. But it is so tough to do it in just 1 hr. I usually end up with the most bland featureless website I can possibly get. Sigh. You are so good Rachel!
Nice video Rachel. Can you please do a much more longer video of let’s 50mins showing the step by step processes you adopted before redesigning a website. Thanks
Love everything you did. However, working so quickly can make requestors think this is a normal amount of time to redesign a page. Even if you get charge $100/hr, your clients will expect you to do magic in an hour.
Thanks for watching, Olivetti! I agree with you. However, this is just a quick design challenge, there's a lot of usability and visual improvements to be made even after the redesign. If there are clients who are willing to sacrifice speed for quality of design, avoid them!
ah that splash picture really clear things up. I thought they placed an ad on their website when it turns out to be their own ad lol Please share with us more about the inspiration for the new design. I see many designers explain a whole drama about why each shape and form is used to reflect the values of the product.
Hey Rachel, Nice video, I just subscribed. Please can you make a video on job hunts for a college student with a diploma in UX design, I would love to see how you would go about it, Despite being self taught.
Hey Rachel, I'm just starting out in UI/UX design and am planning to copy good designs for a start before doing some redesigns. May I ask - for your redesigns, how do you get the necessary assets of the digital product you're doing the redesign for in order to upload them to figma? is there a way to get the assets or do you have to create them from scratch?
Hey Rachel, Great production I love it. I have a question regarding 1:23 where you use the grid, I wonder is this something designers often use, or where there is a specific reason for it in this design?
Hi Mona, thanks for watching! In the beginning, when you have zero portfolio, it's alright to do a 'redesign concept' (like this Nespresso redesign) but whenever possible, try to get real projects. Real projects help you understand what problems the product is actually facing (eg. dropoff rates, cart abandonment) and how your design can help solve it. Good luck!
Great video. I have one question please help me out. 1. I did design many things, like-- logos, icons, landing pages etc but I am not getting any idea how to make a case study of those projects. Please any suggestion it's very helpful for me Thanks
Hey Rachel, I'm a beginner at UI/UX Design, I want to ask you 1 question, how can you get all the resources and add it to Figma? is it just screenshot and paste it to Figma? or you prepared more before you redesign the website?
Hi! May I ask if preparing the original screens on Figma involved a manual process? For instance, were they designed by referring to the original Nespresso website and then manually recreated within Figma's interface?
Hey Rachel, just wanted to know have you reached out to the company or have they? I mean like feedback on using their website on your side, and on theirs like customer support. Would be great to know
I only like designing and not really keen into the research phase, can I still get a client thru this? Are they the one in charge of finding developers or should that be me?
Hi Rachel, that was such a motivating video you’ve created ! Love it Just curiosity.. How did you copy the current website design on figma? Or did you have to create it from scratch? Hey Abdellah, you meant the dark background on my Figma design file? On the design tab on the right, change the background to a dark colour (I use #2C2C2C). They don't have dark mode now, so this would be sufficient in my opinion :)
Its a great deaign but you're right, as a professional in the industry you're at the hands user testing and a/b tests, if the drop off rate is high then you know you're going to have to revert some of those beautiful changes, it's painful to see sometimes. Love your videos
Hello, I'm seeking your assistance in revamping my school management software project. I've invested significant effort into it already, but I've noticed a decline in my comfort level over time. I find myself stuck in a loop where each attempt to enhance the design seems to make it worse than before. I'm particularly struggling with decisions related to color, typography, and spacing. Could you please help me redesign the software?
Feel free to suggest what you'd like to see next! Open to anything lol :)
Please talk about your salary as a Malaysian product designer

Redesign shopee website haha

Thank you, Anna!! As a designer we should respect the brand, even if we don't necessarily agree with their UI choices.
Please make more redesign videos like this explaining the UX problems
I enjoy your explanations about the user’s pain points and how the redesign might be able to solve them.
I second this! 😃
YES TO THIS!!! :)
More of these would be incredible!
Please make this into a series. I think its so cool and useful for learners that want to conceptualize the design process and what to look for.
Will consider this! Thank you for watching 💛
Youre a huge inspiration to me as Im currently transitioning into UX! Thank you for your content I really appreciate your content and can’t wait to see more!
Thank you for watching, Kelso! I appreciate your kind words. Hope to continue bringing value to you :)
This actually looks fantastic! I have the same issues with Nespresso and I would absolutely use your version.
Thanks for watching, Kevin! Deeply humbled to hear this :)
Love this! Would be interesting if you linked a view only version of the Figma file so we can see the side by side difference :)
You're my absolute go-to for everything UXUI, you're crazy talented thanks so much for all the info
Thank you 💕
rachel is like a god tier ui designer. She is just awesome. I don't think I can ever be at her level of skilled
Cool design. Many big differences between the before and after version, but in the positive way. Well done Rachel, you rock.
Thank you Linh! You rock too ;)
yo i have tried to do the same thing. But it is so tough to do it in just 1 hr. I usually end up with the most bland featureless website I can possibly get. Sigh. You are so good Rachel!
The one person who disliked this video is a designer at Nespresso 😂
Great one!! Happy to see you here Irtefa! 😂
Your design is so much better, better to understand and don't have to look anywhere because it's in a information box.
Aww, you're too kind!
This video is great! Your version is so much better and you did it soo quickly.
Hey Jia Yu! Thanks for watching!
Lol, I had a similar idea if I redesigned the website!
Great job!
Thanks for watching! :)
More redesign videos please! Also would be great if you could go into more detail. Loved this one!
This video is so useful, especially to someone like me who's just getting started in UX design. Thank you!!
Love your redesign videos! Rockz Rachel!
this is really cool! thank you for the video!
Glad you liked it!
Amazing!!! Such a inspiration to me!! Thank you! Rachel!!
You are so strong! love it.
Thank you so much! Thanks for watching, Nadia!
love this kind of content! fun to watch how you redesign the website, I can learn something from this as well, thanks!
Wow! So inspiring! Love your redesign, Rachel! Kudos!

Thank you for watching, Andrew! I agree, their banners do look like ads. Noted on your suggestions too :)
Love your channel. Keep up the good work. Inspired.
Thank you so much!
loved it! Please make more videos like this 😀
Thank you for watching, Daniela!
Awesome! Thank you!:)
I love your videos. You've inspired me to come back to TH-cam and start creating content again (soon) :) Keep up the great work!
Thank you Niki (hope I got your name correctly)! Keep going :)
Wow. One hour. Nice work.
Thanks!
Cut the check Nespresso!
please create a full video step by step that how you create a beautiful website or app in figma
Who else check if the Nespresso website has changed its design xD
It looks sleek now
Haha it does! ☺️☺️
that's a really good job, for real
pls make more videos like this and explain the ux problems

Thanks Martyna!
So cool la !!! 😍😍
thank you hannah! :)
this is so cool!!
Thank you for watching :)
Such a great redesign! Thanks for sharing
Thank you for watching, Kathy!
Amazing!! 😃

You did this in figma? If yes, how did you bring the exact colors?
Cool!!
Hello friend..i like you video..success for you👍👍
Thanks Wong! :) wishing you success too!
very good video, thank you for unspiring me to persue being one ux designer
You love what you do, i like that.
Thanks for watching, E!
what were you doing @1:14 to set the red lines/margins that way in figma? Is there a hot key for that or is that a plugin?
Theres a ruler you can turn on in figma and you just have to drag those red lines from there
i love it
thank you!
love your videos
Thanks Chloe!!

I would always think to myself how would archie bring this to the next level 😂
Legendary!
Thanks Alexander, always have your support!
@@rachelhow I kind of felt like getting a Nespresso machine after watching tbh..
Hey, great redesign. How effective has youtube been for you to get clients? I am looking to create a channel of my own to attract more clients
Hey Rachel!
When designing a website, is it always a must to do the 5 columns thing?
I saw somewhere you should do 12?
Hey Rachel,
Great production I love it. I have a question regarding 1:23 where you use the grid, I wonder is this something designers often use, or where there is a specific reason for it in this design?
hiii i just want know how can know about other device grid columns on figma ?
if I redesign a website without the company knowing, like what Rachel did here, am I allowed to put it on my portfolio still?
Hi Mona, thanks for watching! In the beginning, when you have zero portfolio, it's alright to do a 'redesign concept' (like this Nespresso redesign) but whenever possible, try to get real projects. Real projects help you understand what problems the product is actually facing (eg. dropoff rates, cart abandonment) and how your design can help solve it. Good luck!
really like learning with you ;-)
Wow, that's awesome, thank you!
Not related question but, where did you get that Herman Miller Aeron in Malaysia?
The one in this video is used, i’ve since switched to another chair from TRAX furniture in Bangsar :) u’ll get a 12 year warranty!
Great video.
I have one question please help me out.
1. I did design many things, like-- logos, icons, landing pages etc but I am not getting any idea how to make a case study of those projects.

How do you get the design of the website?
Hey Rachel, I'm a beginner at UI/UX Design, I want to ask you 1 question, how can you get all the resources and add it to Figma? is it just screenshot and paste it to Figma? or you prepared more before you redesign the website?
Hi Rio, do you mind letting me know which resources do you mean?
If it's the Nespresso screenshot, yes it's just a screenshot and paste on Figma :)
@@rachelhow Ohh okayy, thanks for sharing Rachel! I wish I could be a better designer like you ! 😁👍
How can you manipulate a page that is not yours ?
hi great video, may i know, whether we can use redesign design as part of our portfolio? :)
Hey I really like your content I hope you have a time more redesign a website like this in full detail not just in time lapse
Hi! May I ask if preparing the original screens on Figma involved a manual process? For instance, were they designed by referring to the original Nespresso website and then manually recreated within Figma's interface?
I am also wondering this, too!
@@Amrv1 Not sure if this is what she did but there’s a plugin named ‘html.to.design’ which allows us to convert a website url to Figma designs! 😊
@@con1910 Thank you! Going to play with this plugin for sure! :) Have a great day!
Hey Rachel, just wanted to know have you reached out to the company or have they? I mean like feedback on using their website on your side, and on theirs like customer support. Would be great to know
Nope, I did not reach out. They did made changes to their UI, however it is still quite a bad experience 😅
@@rachelhow thanks for answering
I only like designing and not really keen into the research phase, can I still get a client thru this? Are they the one in charge of finding developers or should that be me?
Hi Rachel, is it possible for someone to use a redesign like this as a portfolio piece or is it too small a project?
thats a great work!! i was just wondering, do you use the trackpad all the time for working in ui/ux? or you happen to use the mouse for your work?
Hey Yaasir! I use trackpad ;)
Can you tell me font sizes?
Hi Rachel, that was such a motivating video you’ve created ! Love it
Just curiosity..
How did you copy the current website design on figma?
Or did you have to create it from scratch?
I’m currently working on my case study (redesign the mobile app). Would be much appreciated if you get a chance to reply ! Thank you
I created it from scratch but some are just screenshots captured from the live website, just to save time :)
All that i 1 hour...did you prepare ahead all just began from scratch?
I prepared the screenshots and looked at the site beforehand, but the actual design process starts when I hit 'record' :)
It's actually really fun haha!
I didn't know that figma has a dark mode
how i can turn that on
Hey Abdellah, you meant the dark background on my Figma design file? On the design tab on the right, change the background to a dark colour (I use #2C2C2C). They don't have dark mode now, so this would be sufficient in my opinion :)
Send this video to them, they probably will redesign it :P
What really pisses me off is how Nestle treats farmers, children and poor workers not a silly website for someone who doesn’t know about this company
Amazing! Let me know if you want to do challenge sometime.
Thanks for watching, it would be really exciting :D
You’re not using a mouse 😮
Haha, I love my trackpad 😂Sometimes I use a mouse but that's just because my laptop is hot to touch. Thanks for watching btw!
@@rachelhow Nice… Don’t your fingers hurts afterwards? I sometimes get mild numbness on my fingers when i use the trackpad for whole day.
