Thanks for including my portfolio Rachel! You’re the first experienced designer to give me feedback so I will definitely be working on improving my case studies. I know the UI skills are more of a longterm goal so I’ll be working on that as I go :)
Hey Sam! First of all, thank you for sharing your portfolio with me!! It’s already a huge step you’re taking towards your career - kudos to that. All the best to you 💪🏻
Thank you for leaving your portfolio link to me! This is a roast, but to be honest, the designers in the video has done a great job taking charge of their career. What you'd like to see next? Feel free to suggest my next video here! I can't respond to all of your messages but I do read all of them 🙏
I would suggest, for example - the top 5 bad websites where you would explain to us what is not good (something like a video about redesigning Nespresso's webiste). Also, I'm interesting how to prepare for 1st interview and what you would say to yourself as a beginner (what to study and what not to waste time on). Thank you 🤗
I absolutely agree with everyone saying this is an informative useful video. I am currently creating my own portfolio and the critique you are providing is really good for beginner UX designers like me and anyone who has been in the industry redoing their portfolio.
This is really insightful Rachel. Any chance you could share what a typical good design portfolio would look like, so we can better appreciate some of the great points you're making.
Thank you for featuring it!, yeah I think I'll need to rework some of the projects as they've quite heavy in video/photos. Not sure why the images in Iterations didn't load properly :( I'll be excluding Harry's project from my portfolio once I finish my case study as I haven't been allowed full creative control over the website, I'm personally not happy with how it looks either
Looks like many of them are using templates from the Google UX Course. Nothing wrong with using them for the course assessments, but they look terrible for real life purposes, so even during the course I felt like avoiding them for the most part. If anyone reading this follows the course too, make sure to mix it up and develop your own identity! Google gives good fundamentals, but standing out is up to us :)
this is a smart content, giving feedback for the design portfolios and I'm sure this will really help. Hoping one day I'll be able to design my own portfolio and would have the honor to be reviewed by you (crossed fingers)
I see some people who sent you their portfolio did the ux designer course from Google. Those screenshots from the last case study were from the Google slides, google provide all the templates to the students, we only fill them and that's why we thought copying and pasting them into our portfolio website is right 😅 thanks to your video now i have to fix it
Hi Rachel! Thanks for the videos. I am a beginner, started watching your videos and I really understood it. do you have recommendations for the cheapest class for beginners?
This video motivated me so much 😊. The best advice i got was from an AG&smart video. practice practice practice and put ur work out there for constructive criticism.
Hi, Rachel. Could you pls explain what's the difference btw information architecture and user flow ? In case if we do portfolio, do we need create both of them or pick just one :) Im confusing and thanks in advance for your help :)
Hello. Is UI design still on demand? Is UX taking over UI? Everywhere i see is “UI/UX” but i want to become a UI designer and hopefully transition into UX design. Is this a good idea? I am majoring in graphic design.
Senior product designer here who enjoys your channel. Your UX critique is pretty good but I don’t agree with your UI critique. I feel you need to develop your UI taste more, but that’s just my opinion. You have a great channel!
You should do more of this... This is really insightful
Thanks for the feedback! 😁
I agree, please do more videos like this, Rachel! Super useful! Thank you!

Thanks for sharing your portfolio, Vaibhav. Keep it up!
Making a portfolio is not easy, maybe you should just interview the people so they tell you their thought processes...
Appreciated, many professional things to hear, but at some point i just said: "Hah! Women"
I also wanted to get roasted from Rachel How😍
