- Your boss getting to you? Just hack their phone like Elliot does to Gideon. It'll be fine, trust in Hackerman.
From Season 1 Episode 8 "eps1.7_wh1ter0se.m4v" Darlene steals a gun, and has a conversation with Angela that implies they are longtime friends. Elliot and fsociety re-plan their attack but still need the Dark Army. Elliot meets Whiterose, a transgender woman obsessed with time, who says the Dark Army backed out because Gideon, suspicious of Elliot's story, turned E Corp's hacked server into a honeypot. With help from Darlene, Elliot shuts this down. Tyrell finds fsociety's .dat file after Gideon tells him of the honeypot and meets with Mr. Robot, and it appears that the two are working together. He reminds Mr. Robot that he knows his "dirty little secret" when Mr. Robot refuses to cooperate, which Mr. Robot shrugs off. When police question the Wellicks about Sharon's murder, Joanna secretly breaks her own water with a fork to distract them. Elliot tells Darlene of their plan's success, and an ecstatic Darlene tells him she loves him. He kisses Darlene, who is revolted. She asks if he "had forgotten again". Elliot realizes that Darlene is his sister, but he has no recollection of her. He finds a CD that contains old family photos - revealing that Mr. Robot is his father.

show name plz
Honestly, the episodes where Elliot is at Allsafe are some of my favourites. The show just had a different feel to it in the beginning when he was more of a regular 9-to-5 person.
Same
Idk why this just hit, but you spelling out 9-to-5, just made me realize that the hack happened on 5/9. Maybe a little nod to corporate culture working a 9-5
All Elliot had to say was "I'm unconfortable being in a crowd in a small space." Given his affect, no one would question that.

I didn't see a meeting being called. Everyone just went to the meeting room so Elliot isn't wrong to be at his desk.
the guy was rightly suspicious.
If elliot said I was trying to track the connection or something but he was suspicious
LOL "track the connection", jesus christ stay in school@@timeprotector4320
Noticed the same
If your tech company is under attack and you show complete disinterest, especially when you are part of the security team, that is absolutely suspiscious.
And like Gideon said, it wasn't just this one thing. It was also many other instances of suspiscious behavior that stacked up. This was just the last drop.
This Show is Legendary on its own. I haven't seen any hacking shows or movies which can be Real like this. Elliot played a great role.
@@badtry007 passphrases can be bruteforced
that's because they hired real hackers to recommend and verify the tech stuff
Gideon didn't leave the phone at his table because the battery was empty, he left it on his table because its a HTC M9 and would've burned a hole in his pocket otherwise
LMAO I had an htc one m8 back in the day can relate XD
I had an m8 for nearly 9 years. Best phone I ever had. :D
@@alexb6380 M9 had the infamous Snapdragon 810 which was prone to severe overheating. I remember every flagship phone released that year was basically useless and you might as well have gotten last year's version with SD 805.

One of the first thing they teach you in an office environment is to lock your screen when you leave your desk.
Considering they are cybersecurity specialists, one would assume heavy emphasis would be placed on such a policy lol.
Honestly this exact scene is the one that I don't really think to be convincing, the fact that 100% of people (except Elliot) moved to the small room so nonody saw him or the fact that the dude has a cybersecurity company but doesn't have a password to stop anyone accessing it
There are a few scenes or plot points that weren't too believable in the show. Like the way he "beat" the Deus Group by emptying their bank accounts. As if in Mr. Robots' world, the richest people have no assets, and don't hold shares in big corporations at all and held ALL of their money in a single bank account, all under the same bank.
And the redistribution of money to everyone's wallets was a bit wack, too.
But still, Mr. Robot is by far my favorite show.
I mean I don’t think he’s that much of a smart guy for cyber security since he doesn’t know much I noticed
@@DarkSim64 Fascinating point about the money distribution. My theory is that Whiterose forced them to do something like that to help the new boss of Evil Corp ,and themselves by changing the asssets to remain just as shadowy. Like a really BIG transfer of money under the trust of Whiterose.
@@danielcantiego9374 I think it was just a commie talking point they forced into the show, or maybe they really did run out of ideas about how they could take them down lmao
You have to remember Eliott has DID and that things don't always happen the way they are portrayed because of his constant warping of reality.
I love his gestures. Rami Malek is such a good actor.
Good is a bit understatement. Rami Malek is actually an excellent actor. He can portray emotions so naturally. Remember him as Freddie Mercury in the Bohemian Rhapsody movie? He lives the characters he portrays.
@@CZghost BR is a masterpiece as well. I did not know much about Freddie and the emotions I felt were love and hatred at the same time. Rami is utterly talented.
They should make a new Mr. Robot series or a continuous.
These recommendations make me want to watch the series again for the 3rd time.
One of this shows best qualities for me is its soundtrack🔌
ur right
Such a great show. Kept you guessing at ALL times.
I mean this is how real hacking takes it's more unlikely to hack someone without tricking them (possible only by finding bugs) while some people fail to understand it
This show is usually on point. Yet not a single person locks their computer when they walk away from it. Would have been a nice touch. Security folks do this without even thinking about it. Security conscious organisations drill this behaviour into their employees.
I mean, it's a cybersecurity company. You'd think the employees there would be a bit more conscious/serious about that kind of stuff.
@@caspertrog1046 Remember when this was filmed a long time ago.
I worked at a tech company and... well ppl can get complacent like you would think we are more security conscious because we have to do those compliance training things but honestly I think most of us fall pray to the it won't happen to me mentality. I'm remote but when I've been to the office it's kind of concerning how easy it is to get in without an ID card just tailing someone and acting like you work there (which I do but this ppl have never seen my face how would they know) and then you can easily distract someone to look away from their laptop and leave it open by just tapping them on the shoulder and asking for help or to go get a donut that was just dropped at the front desk. Basically anything that disturbs their normal thought process I think this is because most of us run on a certain level of autopilot so it's easy enough to guide our attention to something else specially if this actions have never led to negative consequences for ourselves. It was so much of a problem that cyber turned it into a game Basically if an employee left laptop open and wasn't at the desk you used their slack to send a message to specific channel with your name as the reporter and you got a point and they lost a point reward was given at the end of the quarter to the ones that reported the most incidents and I guess the most reported just became more aware of their behavior.
My 2nd day working at the biggest bank in my country, and I saw 2 people in my team who are in their 30's/40's forget to lock their computers and both of them were sitting on either side of me. So I don't really think it's that unrealistic lol
I need to rewatch this show. This has to be one of my top 5 favorite series ever.
Im intrested in the guy who still posts these cutouts from the show fr, in a goodway though, you must be obsessed with this show! 👍
One of the best series ever made..
My friend, who is a Linux Guru, loved this show.

From where you watched this show
They work at a cybersecurity company, and the boss's phone is unlocked to anyone LOL
Its Android so maybe installed superuser or something, but they don't show that...
I'm going to assume Elliot caught Gideon's swipe pattern at some point.
I'm also going to assume there is no email notification about a new device login to their ticket system.
This show is accurate almost to a fault, but so many things had to line up for this hack to be possible.
Always remain calm regardless of the situation
how can i forgot this epic scene
So the CEO of a Cybersecurity company doesn't have a passcode or lock on his personal cellphone?
Androids have a small window once you turn them off you can turn them back on without needing a passcode. He most likely does have a passcode but Eliot got to it pretty quickly.
Well even if he did have a passcode, Elliot already said he hacked him so it wouldnt have mattered anyway
lazy screenwriting
maybe the AI wrote the screen play
Rami Malik is fantastic in this.
in this company there are not security cameras...very strange...!
There are cameras at your office work place, filming you the entire time? And that's ok with work place regulation in your country? Ok bro
This is the moment where Elliot isn't wearing his black jacket
"they hacked our smart tv" worst line ever
what would you recommend then?
@@momobobo5430 better with no line
@@cellardwellar4712 then how would the whole team be forced into one single room? He needed to say something to get everyone's attention or else the scene would not happen.
@@momobobo5430 "i dont understand, the remote was working before but its not responding now, is it hacked?"
@@duckmeat4674 That would not make sense because people working at a cybersecurity firm would understand basic technology. The most logical thing to say is something about how the TV was hacked.
Okay am i tripping or does the head of a cybersecutity company just has no passcode on his phone, but the scene was very intense still and cool :-)
plotarmor
There's OTP for login sent to his phone.
I think he had it unlocked when he set it down
I mean Elliott hacked him previously, so maybe he already knew the code? But yeah, that's weak sauce.
The era? Plot convenience?
Maybe the phone was still "open" by the time he got to it? 🤷

"Elliot just a tech"
You're not dumb for owning a smartphone. You are dumb for putting any information on a smartphone that you wouldn't be comfortable sharing with everyone around you.
My guy owns a cybersecurity company... and doesn't password protect his phone.
Gideon just put his phone face down. He didn't lock it yet.
It's an Android, you don't need a passcode, if you just put it down for a short moment. It's practical, it only locks after a few moments, not instantly, and i assume Elliot got there within the time frame. Otherwise you'd have to be constantly doing stuff with the phone, or unlock it every 10 seconds if you do something else briefly. Especially if you use multiple devices, such as when you are at work, it is completely plausible to have it this way, even security firms have to work somewhat efficiently, and there is always a trade off between safety and work flow.
@@Jonathanizer
First off, really hard to believe a cybersecurity company wouldn't use an MDM to enforce locking policies to be every time, and also not have any controls on the TOTP app itself...
But lets assume they didn't, well its Android so maybe installed superuser or something, but they don't show that.
I'm going to assume Elliot caught Gideon's swipe pattern at some point.
I'm also going to assume there is no email notification about a new device login to their ticket system.

If Elliot was smart he would have used a second same make and model formated phone, changed the password to a random number and swapped phones with his boss, plugged the new phone into the charger and walked out of the office. The boss wouldn't mess with the phone for a while since its charging then assume his phone f^%ked up on its own.

no one cam in office?
Your office has cameras, that are constantly filming you guys working? What country is that, where that is allowed i wonder?
@@Jonathanizer A country that forces the Western world to pay more taxes to its corrupt politicians XD,
But seriously, this is the general coverage of the premises, the security service of a business center or company should have the right to do this, and it's not about the country, but about the authority at the facility.
@@crazyivan1083 The companies rights have to be balanced against the rights of the employees, who in any case will have to agree to being filmed. Common areas, customer facing areas or areas where valuables are stored, such as a server room, a sales floor or the reception area: okay fine. But other than that, in most modern countries you'll need a specific reason to have cameras installed. Sometimes employee accountability is an acceptable reason, but in this line of work, the office workers time on the pc is logged, they see progress towards projects or tickets, so that does not really apply here. Authority on your property does not automatically supersede individual rights of the people on the property. "My house my rules" is a thing people only say to kids, because grown up often know better.
@@Jonathanizer What you're talking about is cameras aimed at a particular employee's workplace. Yes, this is a trigger that scares people away, a horror story with a "totem" of total control. But security is also necessary, especially in a company where a lot of interested parties are possible. Therefore, I do not think that a camera with a general perspective on the entire location of the office there would be a hindrance. And whether you believe in any "human rights" in our world, all this is tinsel. If we talk in sufficient detail, it should continue like this: "the rights of some citizens are ensured by restricting the rights of citizens of other countries by economic, military and other methods." And if we dig even deeper, we will find the corpse of Marx who will come to life and tell us that this is based on the colonial morality of Western countries XD
@@crazyivan1083 For security it is sufficient if you cover expensive equipment, (i gave the example of the server room) or entrance/exit of a building/ property/ office. I'm not saying it is impossible to have cameras in such places. I think this is New York, and in the United States such issues are regulated by state law. I just think it's not implausible to have such a work space without cameras, i would even go so far, it might be more likely.
And if you think the individual rights of a person are such a joke, go try and violate these rights. Or better yet, don't do that, and just believe me, it wont end well for you. These rights will be upheld, despite your lax attitude towards them, and you will feel it in some way or another. You seem to equate personal rights in states or countries with international politics and relations between states, where some actors take the position "might makes right". That is another issue entirely.
