- With the power still out, she takes him to an underground hacker tournament with fiber connections. He shuts the backdoor into E Corp, but Dark Army agents force them to leave.
From Mr Robot Season 3 Episode 1 "eps3.0_power-saver-mode.h"
Zhang intends for Elliot to die once his work for the Dark Army is complete. In a panic that Elliot might die, Tyrell calls used car salesman and Dark Army agent Irving. Elliot wakes up a week later in a room with Angela. He finds the firmware hack building empty. Darlene shows up and pumps him for information, but he lies and says Tyrell was never involved. Irving shakes their FBI tail and Elliot thinks he has called off Stage 2. Thinking his revolution made things worse, he asks Angela for a job at E Corp to fix things. That night, Mr. Robot emerges and Angela takes him to work with Irving and Tyrell, creating another way to advance Stage 2. Angela plans to manipulate Elliot along like Mr. Robot does, believing in Whiterose's plan to undo everything E Corp has ever done and create a new world.

Ikr, without any single idea what ctf is, what the challenge is, etc. He just knows he can beat it 😄 that is a godly level of skill.
@@kenwu7 It means "Capture the flag", and the object of the game changes depending on the situation, but the general point is the hacker is given a computer system/program, and their goal is commonly to gain access to it or retrieve certain codes/keys. Basically, it's a hacker puzzle, they vary in difficulty as well.

CTF is actually a real thing and pretty dope. The goal is to "capture" as many "flags" in the form of bitstrings locked in a shared server by hacking into it. Different flags are hidden with varying difficulty. Everything is allowed, and the team with the most strings discovered wins!

Not everything is allowed, Some ctfs are held over the internet. So ddos,dos is out of the question 90% of the time. Even ones that are held locally still don’t allow flooding of data unless it’s like a buffer overflow

@@hurricane3518 Most likely running generators. The city is supposed to be out of power due to an attack etc, but the CTF is still active because it is worldwide. Of course, the hackers participating in the competition would group up to source the fuel to power their hackerspace, especially since it supposedly has an active fiber connection still.
It wouldn't be a hacking scene without unbelievably loud dubstep.

I love how Eliot wins the hacking torunament not by typing extremely fast like how a usual sterotypical hacker god would, but by simply being 10 times more aware of the situation and all options than the other hackers, he barely even uses time or energy in the scene to do the hack. He is not about speed, but efficency and strategy

Sam Esmail is a genius, this show is a gem. After watching the whole show for a second time you realize the story is as much about Darlene as it is about Elliot.

Episode 3x05 was made of several one takes sequences, edited to seem like the episode was a 45 minutes long one take. Still, absolutely wonderful and brilliant, one of my favourite episodes of mr robot and TV in general, just like the mute episode and the 5 acts episode (4x05 and 4x07)
@@pasomatt11 while I love 3x05, I personally find 4x05 even better. They both decided to do something fun and they did it really well, but 4x05 just works flawlessly.
From the two lines being "You don't need to say anything" (start) and "It's time we talked" (end), to the episode title being "Not Allowed" (Not aloud), to the fact that despite normally having a ton of dialogue, I didn't even notice that there wasn't any.
God I love this show.

Never a bad idea. I have done that with Breaking Bad and Cobra Kai as well. There's not really much television shows that I watch but the good ones are worth subsequent viewing. Halt and Catch Fire was pretty good too.

It's such a great show. Personally I put it up there with Breaking Bad in terms of storytelling, and some of the episodes are a masterclass in filmmaking.
Awesome scene but then again there are so many great moments with this show its a masterpiece. Sam Esmail is a genius and he had some cameos also which was cool.

With all my respect for Elliot's story, I would love to watch another season. Mr. Robot changed my life. I'm not hacking but Elliot changed something deeper in me. I saw something greater than myself inside me. Now I don't have a disorder, but he made me believe and I started something like a new life. Just in a few short weeks.

New Yorks hacker scene is actually like this from what I’ve read on forums. It’s the biggest in the US since the 90s , it’s why the 1995 hackers movie is in ny and probably why it gets referenced in season 1

Idk If it was intentional but at 0:50 there's a 19 on one wall and an 84 on the next. As the camera pans it clearly shows 1984. Not sure if they were trying to tell us something by hinting towards the book 1984. If so that was well placed and only caught by the keen.
