I’ve purchased some blue light blocking glasses from amazon. The opticians charge a lot. I use contact lenses and put the non prescription amazon blue light blocking glasses on top. Personally, it’s helped a lot as I work with screens a lot. Love the informative video!
The video was really informative and answered all my question, but all that I could think of is that he's so handsome I just want to stare at him while he talks for hours
The only benefit i really got from blue light glasses is that i now can go to sleep much easier like i literally could spent 1-2 hours just trying to sleep but with anti blue light glasses i barely spend 10-15 mins to sleep which is really making my mood better and less headaches ofc
As a dispensing optician, I frequently get asked about blue light glasses (a patient asked me about them earlier today as it happens). It’s quite a hard product to justify sometimes as so much of the data is merely anecdotal. The advice I generally give is the same as in this video - that it can help some people therapeutically but some people really don’t notice the difference. Conversations about reducing screen time (especially for kids) is becoming an increasingly difficult topic - be great to see a vid with your take on this! Dan
I'm straight forward as well. I tend to ask if they consider themselves light sensitive. If yes. Get the blue light filter. If no, you may not notice a difference. I do get headaches without mine. But people who weren't getting headaches before probably be the same after.
Been experiencing eye pain A LOT recently, and I spend all day every day in front of a screen. Going to give blue light glasses a try! Thanks for another great video!
If you haven’t had an eye exam lately, I’d suggest that. It turns out I have to get bifocals or progressive lenses & I think once I order most of my headaches will go away. I’m not even old enough to need bifocals yet ffs. I’m really not happy about it obviously; thank God I do have access to eye care & glasses though.
I have them, I noticed a massive difference especially with eye strain, I stream so I stare at the screen for a long time + bright lights in my face for hours.
I started using blue light filtered glasses because my eyes were starting to get very sensitive to lights when I'm driving to work at 3am every morning. It definitely helped my eyes adjust to the bright streetlights & harsh daylight when I eventually did go outside once the sun went up. They definitely helped me have a better sleep also as I only ever got about 5 hours sleep each night and when every second counts, you gotta make the most of it lol
I'm on my phone watching TH-cam videos, playing games on my Switch, etc. Used to get headaches, not anymore. It is smart to reduce your screen time. I would have to say that blue light lenses do actually work and prevent headaches/migraines
I know when I play video games too much or stare at my computer screen all day that my eyes feel tired and very dry. I find blue light gaming glasses help a bit but I also sometimes switch to moisture goggles for dry eye.
I bought blue light filter glasses a couple of days ago and, honestly, so far they're working with the fatigue. Last week i was getting eye fatigue, or just an annoying feeling, and by using them, i really don't feel it anymore. Perhaps it's some kind of placebo, i don't know. But for me it works, so I'm obviously going to keep using them.
The glasses are a great option for graphic designers like me. For us, it's not an option to have some software alter the colors on the screen. So I got myself a pair of premium blue light blocking glasses today which reduce the color alteration to a not noticable level. Have them on for about 4 hours now and already recognize a difference. They also have an anti glare coating which at least feels like it makes stuff on the screen appear a little bit sharper too.
why is it not an option to alter the colors in software but it is an option to alter the colors with your glasses? both are altering color in a way that does not translate to the final product, so they are equally detrimental to your work.
Bluelight filter added to my prescription glasses is a life changer it cured the headache that I'm dealing everyday. It was sooo annoying and I can't work properly. I have to pop tylenol everyday. Headache is gone and I'm very happy.
My old glasses were starting to give me nausea and headaches so my mom got me new ones with the blue light filter and I can finally play splatoon 2 from the couch
I just got anti blue light glasses yesterday. Although I never experienced head aches or much eye strain from working on the computer all day, these glasses somehow relieved my eyes instantly. Maybe I just didn't realize my eyes were strained or I just got used to having eye strain all the time. I dunno but I love these new glasses. Not sure if they have UV protection built in or not but they also help my eyes feel better when outside in the sunlight, too.
I was suffering bad with headaches and eye pain and even the swelling in eyes but after I started using blue light glasses I'm all well. It really works.
How have I gone so long not knowing about your channel???! Thanks for all the vids. I recently changed to Eyezen Start lenses with blue light filtering and have noticed a significant improvement in not only sleep but also in the amount of headaches I get. In fact I can't say I've had one of those "end of the day" headaches since making the switch. Modern lense technology is amazing, I swear in the 90's my left lense was half an inch thick 🤣 now it fits completely in a frame. Going from having not much else but blur in the left eye, I can read a license plate now with it which just blows my mind 👍👍👍👍
Thank you so much! Happy to hear your glasses are fitting better and working so well for you! I have 2 pairs of Eyezens myself and yes they do help me see things up close easier. Things look almost ...more 3d??
Blue light blocking and amber tint is definitely helpful for my artificial light sensitivity. If I'm exposed to too much fluorescent or LED light my vision gets blurry for days, but with blue blocking and amber tint I don't suffer nearly as much eye strain.
I 100% do indeed benefit from wearing blue light filter glasses. My eyes have gotten to a point now where I simply can't look at my computer monitor without them. If I do, my vision goes blurry, and my eyes become incredibly dry and irritated.
Im a optometrist and bought my first glasses with blue light filter this week - just to learn more abour the product. I will get back to you and tell you about my experience.
I will be trying blue eye glasses this week. I’m in college online classes BC of corona and I’ve been having to spend a lot of time during the week on the computer and I wake up get on the computer and my eyes hurt and I struggle to sleep bc my eyes get teary and just hurt from being over worked for the past month
As a Licensed Optician and Ergonomist, What you say is honest and true about blue light glasses. They work for some people...but not for medical concerns.
I look at a computer about 7 hrs/day. I used to have major discomfort, blurry vision, eye strain, headaches, insomnia, dry eyes, red eyes, and tired eyes. My eyes were literally more tired than my mind and body after work. To put it simply, I was miserable. After using blue light glasses, the difference was like night and day. It was miraculous. The best 20 bucks I ever spent.
I have an office job and really can’t avoid the prolonged screen-staring. So when my eyes get noticeably tired I pop the glasses on and they really do help. I think partly placebo effect, but there’s definitely something to it. They help me for sure.
I've been using glasses for 3 years now and since my first one I use the blue light filter, so I can't really tell if there's any difference. But as far as I'm concerned, I prefer not to risk not buying them, even because the price is almost the same for me. It's good to hear your opinion on that matter though.
I had PRK surgery, I don need prescripted glasses, but I decided to go for a pair of glasees with anti-reflection and and blue light filter, it helps me to relieve mental and physical fatigue, I work 9 hrs in front of the computer, otherwise I would not use them to work, I got the 20 20 after the surgery 🙏
Good video Dr Allen. I don't know much about the filters on cell phones but my understanding is that the blue-blocking spectacle lenses only cut about 30% of the intensity. Given that the amount of blue light emitted by electronics is 50 to 100 times less than of outdoor sunlight, I am skeptical that the blue-blocker tints do much. I do treat a lot of digital eyestrain patients and first advise good nearpoint habits, ergonomics, supportive lens prescriptions, and anti-glare coatings helpful. If they were not marketed as 'computer' glasses nobody would be interested I think. I would say the excessive focusing and narrowed visual awareness involved with electronics is much more of a threat to vision than is the minimal amount of blue light they now emit.
I sell and use blue light glasses. I have sensitive eyes and I like them in bright rooms and when I’m in the computer. Some People do not like them if they edit photos or they are artists because it makes colours look yellow. Kind of like photochromic lenses some love them and some hate them.
Some blue light glasses only block a certain percentage of blue light. So what’s the best percentage to get ? Is there a minimum and maximum percentage that’s best?
Great question! Around 450-480nm is the most sensitive to affect the sleep cycle, and computer screens are highest at 455nm. So around there is the part you want to remove the most.
I’ve gotten blue light glasses for about 9 months now and I’ve definitely seen a change in headaches for the good but I still sometimes get the burning sensation in my eyes after I close them though, I do sleep a lot better now because of them. Would 100% recommend for people i front of a screen for a long period.
i’ve recently got blue light lenses and it helps! i usually get headaches from staring at screen (work) all day. if you’re considering them and you use screens for work/school, get them!
I work on the computer for most of the day, and I used to have headaches. When I got my new glasses a few weeks ago, my eye doctor suggested blue light blocking and I've been using it ever since. No more headaches! At all! And I am able to go straight to sleep even after using the computer all day. I still try to limit my usage when I can, but I can say that blue light blocking really helped me a lot.

Double vision when staring at far away or everywhere like near, intermediate or far? I see double at intermediate and far away distance all the time but completely normal at near distance! I guess that's due to my severe dry eyes and astigmatism? Maybe!
Best to have an assessment by your local eye care provider to make sure there isnt some other binocular vision issue at play. Some people experience decompensating phereas which can lead to double vision, however there are other more series causes as well, so yes, best to see your local doctor. Otherwise some people benefit from indoor tints to their glasses lenses.
I have had a retinal detachment 16 years ago and it was repaired, had a cataract in that eye removed. I have blue light coating on my new glasses , Zeiss digital lenses, etc. I had a recent check up with my ophthalmologist and forgot to ask. When I am not at work, vision is perfect.
I started wearing glasses when I started college 2 years ago, thinking that I would need them in the class or when reading, using devices, etc. They were initially meant to be worn only when reading or studying, but with the on-campus lifestyle, I used to wear them all day. Yes, they have a blue light filter and yes, I feel great wearing them, it feels very comforting. My question is, is it normal to feel eye fatigue when I don't have them on? My eyes would just turn red and teary.

I’ve purchased some blue light blocking glasses from amazon. The opticians charge a lot. I use contact lenses and put the non prescription amazon blue light blocking glasses on top. Personally, it’s helped a lot as I work with screens a lot. Love the informative video!

I cannot reduce my screen time though! I am studying like crazy every single day I am studying to be a nurse!
Ahh. Reminds me when I was preparing for nclex rn. Good luck!

I’m really not happy about it obviously; thank God I do have access to eye care & glasses though.
did they work?
I have them, I noticed a massive difference especially with eye strain, I stream so I stare at the screen for a long time + bright lights in my face for hours.
Meanwhile watching this vid at 1:11am.

“You don’t need Blue light glasses if you don’t have to look at a screen all day”
My teachers online: *HAHA ESSAYS DUE TOMORROW GO BRRRR*
I started using blue light filtered glasses because my eyes were starting to get very sensitive to lights when I'm driving to work at 3am every morning. It definitely helped my eyes adjust to the bright streetlights & harsh daylight when I eventually did go outside once the sun went up. They definitely helped me have a better sleep also as I only ever got about 5 hours sleep each night and when every second counts, you gotta make the most of it lol
I’ll never go back to regular glasses w/o the blue filter. My eyes are sensitive to light so the lens helps out immensely!!
This is a great video, I'm an optician so it's been very helpful for me to explain to patients with more information regarding Blue light!

Hey. Where did you get your pair from?
Thanks for sharing. Where did you get your pair from?
why is it not an option to alter the colors in software but it is an option to alter the colors with your glasses? both are altering color in a way that does not translate to the final product, so they are equally detrimental to your work.
3 years later man, and you still haven't told us.

TH-cam on telephone destroy my eyes very fast and i feel sleepy all the time because i feel tired my eyes even in the morning....

Tinted screen protector on the phone would help.
Blue light blocking and amber tint is definitely helpful for my artificial light sensitivity. If I'm exposed to too much fluorescent or LED light my vision gets blurry for days, but with blue blocking and amber tint I don't suffer nearly as much eye strain.
Iam also suffering from blurr sight effect by long hour work with computer
I got the blue lens filter. I don't see a difference but there's no harm in trying. Only around $10 additional cost so why not?
Many professionals feel the same way, the theories about high energy light causing increased risk/retinal stress is pretty solid.
I've been using blue light glasses over a month now. Trust me, my sleep cycle has improved a lot.
Nice! Happy to hear it! What brand of lenses are you wearing?
As a Licensed Optician and Ergonomist, What you say is honest and true about blue light glasses. They work for some people...but not for medical concerns.
I got my bue filter glasses yesterday.and immediately i can see a difference in my sleel.
I tend to sleep alot longer and sleep more deeply.

Simple question if your work requires you to be staring at a screen all day should you consider blue light blocking glasses
Thanks for sharing Jenni! Great to hear how they have helped you! And happy to hear PRK went so well!
Your last line opened my eyes 👁
I sell and use blue light glasses. I have sensitive eyes and I like them in bright rooms and when I’m in the computer. Some People do not like them if they edit photos or they are artists because it makes colours look yellow. Kind of like photochromic lenses some love them and some hate them.
Absolutely. I personally love photochromics and I still discuss blue blocking for people who spend a lot of time on digital devices.
I'm using blue light screenguard from last 7 days, I feel eye strain. Exactly Opposite to what your saying.
I always have my phone on night mode now and on my pc at work it reduces eye strain and headaches for me

i’ve recently got blue light lenses and it helps! i usually get headaches from staring at screen (work) all day. if you’re considering them and you use screens for work/school, get them!

I get double vision when at the office because of fluorescent lighting. How can I correct that
Double vision when staring at far away or everywhere like near, intermediate or far? I see double at intermediate and far away distance all the time but completely normal at near distance! I guess that's due to my severe dry eyes and astigmatism? Maybe!
Best to have an assessment by your local eye care provider to make sure there isnt some other binocular vision issue at play. Some people experience decompensating phereas which can lead to double vision, however there are other more series causes as well, so yes, best to see your local doctor. Otherwise some people benefit from indoor tints to their glasses lenses.

My eyes would just turn red and teary.
the thing i realized is that wearing blue light glasses regularly throughout the day, especially for style purposes does more harm than help for me. wearing my glasses for too long causes migraines. i’m looking into a blue-light blocking’s screen protector for my devices in order to sleep better. i already stay off devices for a few hours before bed, so i’m used to it. love your videos 💞
