NAFTA does not include PRs in its statutes. You must be a Canadian citizen to take advantage of NAFTA. As a PR you cannot get a work permit in the US just with a job offer.

hi igor, just to add to what you said, as a permanent resident you are entitled to all the benefits, but there is no free education in canada, although you pay as a domestic student as you said and education at the university level is still expensive even when paying for tuition as domestic student considering the high living costs and you still have to support yourself. Many permanent residents choose to go back to school to study, as qualifications and degrees from outside Canada would not let you work in regulated professions that require licenses and permits to practice. But there are advantages for sure as canada has some world class universities. in my case I came with degree in engineering but now I am planning to switch to law which has better prospects in Canada and I intend to go to law school. Also you lose your permanent residency if you don't meet the residency requirements i.e. you have to stay for at least two out of five years in Canada to maintain it and if you acquire citizenship you lose it automatically. You can also lose it if you commit a serious crime but in general permanent residency in Canada allows you to live here indefinitely and gives you access to cheap healthcare, education, social benefits etc.
I think some PR holders don’t want to apply for citizenship because they’d have to give up their initial citizenship for those countries that don’t allow multiple citizenship, like India or China

Hello Igor thanks for all your useful videos...Two questions for PR holders.. A) out of five years, how do you prove that you have stayed in Canada for minimum two years ... Because in passport there is no exit stamp, only entry stamp mentioning the dates of entry in Canada B) if anyone has stayed for total of two years does their spouse (who is a PR holder but has never stayed) also get the benefit?

Some countries do not allow dual citizenship. For example if you're Indian or Chinese and you adopt Canadian Citizenship you will lose you're Citizenship in your home country as these are some of many countries that do not allow you to be a dual Citizen of two countries.

vishal modha Provincial government yes, Federal no. You can be a policeman in one of the big cities, which has its own police force. RCMP requires 10 years of PR or citizenship.
From my understanding you should have a good credit standing to get a loan. That depends on how you create your credit history. From my experience in USA, it would be around 1-2 years.
