Take my word for it you'll change her mind one day I breed blue tongue skinks and some Australian pythons and my mum has a strong hatred for every single one.
I think the best way would be to find a place that will let you handle the animal. Don't make her hold them, but let her see you interacting with the animal, and she'll be able to see that they're not that scary! That's what I had to do with my rescue Hissing Cockroach that I spotted on my neighbor's fence in the middle of winter. She lived another year, and my mom loved the roach's son!
Did you see that baby bullsnake in her last video (Mr. Wilson and the axanthic female)? That first hatched one was HUGE! I couldn’t believe it fit in that little egg!
