    I have owned this gun for about 4 years and it is amazing. I did install the lighter trigger system Arex sells for it and it does make a huge difference. I like the Gen 1 grip, and it is about the same size as the Beretta 92 grip. But I can see people with smaller hands having an issue as above.

    I have around 1200 rounds threw my zero 1s. It has performed flawlessly. I have run steel, aluminum, & brass rds threw it in multiple grain weights. All I did was lube the slide rails before I shot it for the first time. You both shot the gun exceptionally well. This thing is a tank. I shoot it better than most of my other handguns.

    This is my first pistol purchase. Got it from Bud’s last week. Based on a couple months of weighing various options, the Rex Zero 1T (specifically in OD green) was the best priced, optics ready, threaded barrel, metal suppressor height sights, metal frame full size 9mm with pretty uniformly excellent reviews. $573 out the door. When I stacked up all of the features of the Rex Zero, I couldn’t find anything comparable at a similar price - including many of the striker fired polymer options I considered.

      You tried it against a Canik Rival?

    • @cadencepower
      @cadencepower ปีที่แล้ว +4

      The Rival was definitely high on my list of potentials. I got the Rex Zero brand new for significantly less than I could find the same in a Rival (>$100 less). Aside from just being a very popular, highly regarded gun, I gave the Rival a lot of thought because of all of the aftermarket support that’s available. Arex upgrades are fairly limited by comparison, but that’s okay for me. The two are very different of course. I just couldn’t pass up on all the features on the Arex at the price - especially in comparison to it’s direct metal frame competitors. I kinda like that it’s also a lesser known brand.

    My husband and I have three Arex Zero pistols. We've never experienced any type of issue. The slide release lever has not been an issue for either one of us.
    They are absolutely fantastic pistols. My husband and I have a good size collection of German pistols HK, Walther...... The Arex Zero is in the same category 🤔. Walther is a favorite for CCW. However the Arex Zero is always inside our Cadillac. I've carried the Arex Zero while hiking outdoors, I'm concerned that it may get scratched so .....

    The weight of the DA pull on this gun makes it fairly difficult to pull off a quick accurate shot one-handed (i.e., from a draw) although with a normal 2-handed firing grip it's not so bad. The SA trigger on these guns is really nice.

  • @cheapgunclub

    The first time I took mine to the range it locked up a little bit and didn't keep the slide open sometimes. Never had any failure to feed issues though. Once I took it home and cleaned it well it's performed flawlessly ever since.

    I just got the Rex compact tactical and the Rex Delta from the Black Friday deal that you gave us the heads up for, and it's just as good as my original Zero One Compact. I oiled up the frame before my first range trip too, and gave it 500 rounds of the 124gr NATO ammo, as well as another 300 rounds of 115gr of Fiocchi (and some Hornady Critical Duty 135gr +P). The recoil sspring is *still* as stiff as it was out of the box! What a tank of a gun! I really want the Rex Zero 2 Compact in my carry rotation!!!!!

    When I got my zero 1 I didn't care for the curved trigger so I picked up an armorycraft flat trigger with adjustable stops and it completely changed the feel of the trigger pull, may not be for everyone but personally I feel it was a huge upgrade. As far as malfunctions I've not had any issues to date after ~500 rnds of mixed quality ammo.

    • @GBGuns
      @GBGuns  ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Typically DA/SA guns have a curved trigger so that it can still be run comfortably in double-action. Quite often when you move to a flat trigger the DA pull is very awkward.

    Regarding the overall impressions, to me this is a gun that maybe prefers heavier loads (~NATO), and if you will, heavier, bigger guys to operate it. Then again, your lady also managed to pretty much nail it down as she was accurate more than I have been honestly expecting, given how large that thing looked in her hands. Rugged LE/military gun made for war, just cool.

      The dual-purpose design of de-cocker and slide-stop require a break-in period. I am a little concerned by the lightweight stamped sheet metal Arex uses for the part. I could see it being an early wear point. Better to do tactical slide manipulation and put less wear on the part. I will have to see if the gun will run with the lock/decoder removed.

    I have two Z1 compacts. Cost effective way to get spare parts & mags.
    The first gun is from Global Ordinance. What a trash fire. Barrel was a mess. Once heated up, it shot 5-inch groups at 10 yards. The slide is miss manufactured, leading to bore being low by 3 inches on every shot. Had to completely disassemble the slide to find a not to small peice of aluminum in one of the firing pin lock notches. This was a major concern as it caused faliure to fire as well as could have interfeared with the out of battery safety. I bought a new barrel and added a dot sight (which was intended from start), and issues solved.
    Gun two is by serial number and import marks, an early production tactical model gun marked Fime group. Works great. The only issue is the placement of the optics cut put the glass right on the edge of the chamber. This occasionally will cause a powder flast to obscure the front lens. I am sure over time it will etch the glass. However, I went cheap on my first ever dots and can afford to upgrade latter if I need to.
    Minus the first guns clear sloppy mess of Q.C. issues, all of which I fixed or overcame via intended add-ons. They are good guns for the money.
    Complete guess. I think AREX ran the tooling out, knowing they were introducing the Zero2. Not smart. Could also have been pandemic Era assembly and due to illness at the factory Q.C. suffered. It's not my problem, but I get it.

    I have had my Rex Zero 1T for 2 years now and love it. I also have large hands, and I really appreciate finding a gun that fits my hands. I did notice at first that I had some small issues with cheap 115g ammo where it seemed like the spring was tunned a little more for 124g. After running about 200 rounds of 124g it seemed to break it in a bit were I could move back to 115g. I'm not an expert but I figured if it was meant for Nato loads that that could have been the issue. Thanks for the video!

    • @unclebobthe1

      It is listed as a +P compatible gun. Recoil spring is definitely on par with that fact.

    It seems like your particular sample has weak ejection much like mine does. I have seen videos online of people with this gun and it slings the brass 10 feet or more. Mine on the other hand, goes up about a foot and a half and over a foot then falls to the ground. I'm just going to keep shooting it, and put some stronger ammo through it and see if it breaks in or if it is an issue.

    • @GBGuns
      @GBGuns  ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Ejection in 99% of pistols (minus the Desert Eagle and maybe another) is a function of slide velocity. If there's friction (grime or break-in) or the ammo is soft then the slid moves slower resulting in less of a kick against the spent shell. If ammo is hotter, the gun under-sprung, or very little resistance otherwise the brass will be ejected farther. For the Zero 1 T factors are: heavy slide, lots of rail contact, a main spring the slide has to push against PLUS the ammo. Even how stiff or soft the shooter's wrist is can play a factor.
