I always thought that Jim was a squared away, down to earth, kind of guy!! Boy was I wrong! Now I see that he can be as wild and crazy as the rest of us. Then the dup. That was the cherry on top!

When I was wee I was very sick for several weeks. I had a pet goat who got sick herself - probably from loneliness. Despite it being 65+ years ago I can still recall my mom’s reaction when Dad brought the goat into my bedroom for a visit. Worked though. We both recovered. Mom not so much.

You’re right - Earl looks huge when he is in the house!! Can’t imagine what one of the Percherons would look like.

One morning my wife left the kitchen door open as she rushed out with the kids to catch the school bus. When she returned our standard bred was in the kitchen eating the warm oatmeal that was still in the pan on the table. Fortunately he was situated so my wife could back him out. He did not leave any organic material in the kitchen.

My wife grew up on a dairy farm and one day brought her Holstein heifer into the house. When her mom told her to get that cow out of the kitchen my wife explained she just wanted to show the heifer where she lived.
In VA we had the horses in the basement during an ice storm and had an ultrasound done on our Belgian in the basement due to wet weather.

A fellow I used to work for on a Morgan breeding farm was dying years ago. They had him on the sun porch, so he could see out, and it was clear he was nearing the end. The family decided they wanted to bring his favorite stallion in so he could say goodbye. Birdie did really well in the house, until he sat on the piano keyboard. That apparently brought some momentary chaos, but other than that, he was a gentleman.

If I would have done this any time on the farm my wife would have told me if I wanted any farm animals to be in the house I could just live in the barn with them. Great fun to watch!! Careful Jim. Thanks 😜.

WOW !!....Jim without his hat !! At least you've got more hair on top of your head than I do, Jim !!
I thought it was quite fun to get Earl into the house - he's a lot bigger than I thought !! He looked totally confused and didn't seem to care too much for those yummy looking cinnamon buns prepared by Brenda !! Nice to see Abby there, too !!

That was great. Earl was so timed and gentle. I was wondering if a little accident would happen. Now Earl will go back to the barn and tell his other horse friends about the dark room and funny smells on the table. The table had this tiny cloth that he wished he could shake but the misses wouldn't let him. 😃

    • @louisecassidy5991
      @louisecassidy5991 2 ปีที่แล้ว

That cloth looks like a rattan mat, smelled like hay, and might have qualified as edible.

Jim: "It's starting to stink in here." LOL Thanks for the laugh, and God bless you, Earl (for being a pretty good boy, despite the manure drop, in a strange new situation) and Brenda. So funny! There's a picture my mom has of her brother before he shipped off to WWII of him in my grandma's kitchen on his Morgan, Red. Same big grin as you, Jim. Love it!

I road one of my western horses in our school. She was a perfect lady. The only bad thing was everyone was so surprised that no one got a picture of it. She was a wonderful cow horse. Could rope and sort cattle with her. I had a ball riding her through the halls. It was in the mid 70’s. No cell phones then. Thank You so much for sharing you videos for all of us to enjoy. Wonderful family. 😊😂

Reminds me of the time my yearling opened the gate and climbed 2 flights of wooden stairs up the outside of our business and another flight of stairs inside the building to our apartment upstairs. She wanted to see where I went after feeding her. I let her look around then backed her back down the one flight of stairs, and then walked he through the business to take her out the front door. I didn't like the odds of trying to get her back down those outside stairs. Curiosity satisfied she never tried the stairs again. She would just open the gate, stand at the stairs and bang on the bottom step and whinny for me when she wanted my company.

HAHAHAHA! I have done it once! With my Half Arab gelding, let him in the walk in basement, tiles/carpeted and I hollered for Mom that we have a visitor. Lo and behold, Mom saw my horse looking up at her from the bottom of the stairs and she insist to get the horse OUT of the house! As good natured Ranger was, didn't make a mess and quite please how calm he was! It was funny! I don't think I ever did it again after years of having horses, going inside the house. Earl is so cool and glad Jim cleaned up the floor!

My Dad and his brothers have done this with smaller animals but I'm darn sure what Jim did crossed their minds more than once.
This is yet another reason I enjoy your channel. You churn up memories of better times. Brenda ... yer great. My Mom would have liked you. She used to run quick enough to catch me, so she might have been able to run in the fields with a camera. Kudos for fitness and humor. She made scratch Cinnamon Buns too and they NEVER lasted two days. And Jim, you and my Dad would have made a great pair ... hard work and humor. Abbey's spoiled for a husband 'similar' to you. :)

We lived in an old farmhouse and had a back room with the coat hooks, boot jacks, washer, etc. I had a garage attached. One day I was riding and had to use the bathroom. Since I was close to the house I led my horse into the garage, dropped the reins (she had been taught to stay when the reins were dropped), and ran in the house leaving the door to the back room open. My mom, who was afraid of horses, heard something and came to investigate. She was confronted by my horse (my mom was a little woman) who was investigating the cupboards in the back room! Fortunately when she screamed my name, I was close and got to the horse before my mother could take the broom to her.

All the horses are so beautiful and yes Earl did look huge in the house but he certainly did christen his visit🤣😂🤣😂🤣😂🤣😂🤣😂. I’m so excited to see Lady growing large with her baby and that day when she foals will be another big event on the farm. Can you just envision Ken or Buck…even Baron coming in the door for a quick visit? I think you might have a bit more of an issue I fear. Looking forward to the next chapter of Working Horses with Jim and his antics!!!:):):)

OMGosh! Jim!!! When I was young I did the same thing. My family had just built a new home. We were pretty conservative. My mom liked French provincial furniture. We ate from fine China & sterling silverware. Our table settings were beautiful on the holidays. We had new plushy carpets & here I suddenly stood with my drippy pony Honey. She was wet to the bone & it was in the middle of a storm. They didn’t build me a barn. She had to get dry & warm. I was NOT a happy camper. My collie dog was there with us too. Honey was a character with an adorable plus, plus, plus personality, was very well behaved & so was my dog. She didn’t leave a mess like yours. LOL. Looking back now, I think my mom was so in shock she didn’t even say anything. She just saw all of us standing in our puddles. They didn’t build us a barn.
