Can you test out how this works as a Plex player? I'm mainly interested in 4K DV, HDR support vidoe wise and all the audio codecs you talked in the video about passing through. This is with Andorid 12 being installed. Please let me know, thanks! Would greatly appreciate it.
Sounds like this new IMAX format requires hardware decode. If true, I'm guessing it won't be in any low end streaming devices. Probably looking at maybe a nexgen Apple TV or Shield (🤞)
2 issues still present with android tv 12 with this. Somehow Disney+ doesn’t work in Atmos. Netflix and prime works. TH-cam has lip sync issues. Not sure how to solve this. No issues with prime and Netflix. Looks like an app issue
I tried the Dune but connecting via network to the drives weren't working well, especially on 4k remux through Plex or Dune HD. I have plenty of bandwidth but neither direct Ethernet or wifi connection was able to get to the high bit rate needed and regularly would stutter. Unfortunately returned it and stuck with the shield, which just works. Only way I got it to work on Dune was by using an external SSD with the file loaded and then plugged direct into the Dune.
@@joentell I swear I had TH-cam HDR working before. Wild! I guess I just didn't notice or maybe I only tested HLG HDR. Looks like VP9 profile 2 is what TH-camr uses. It's proprietary and requires some special chip that the Shield doesn't have. Blows my mind!
Omg, that explains why the downloaded Digital Foundry HDR videos I was trying to test in Plex didn't work. It's because VP9 profile 2 isn't supported! That confirms it.
Up to you if this matters, but I don't trust Chinese company devices, and this is one of those. It's a big "who knows?" situation when security is concerned.
@@chebrubin lets stop not explaining why you say that, cause average Joe's (no pun intended) don't know what dafk you're on about...especially if were busy on an av site. Could just say the communist govt I guess.
@@joentell I'd prefer not having stuff from China, but it's the Chinese manufacturers I watch out for. They're always found to be doing some sort of spying of your network, or they just have some vulns that never get fixed. Not sure about the Russian one. Honestly, I've never had any Russian electronics in my life. I thought all these devices were straight from China. My bad if the Dune is not.

Hey guys. It will play DTS HD and DTSX .. via bitstream now. With the new firmware update.
What firmware are you speaking of. On the Dune HD app or android firmware? What are you on currently?
I'm on Android 12. It was on their website. Maybe they took it down? If not, it should still be there.
@@DailyHiFi Hib can you give me a link to download the new Android 12 please ?
When you played the .iso file, did you use plex?
He said he used the Dune HD player
Does anyone have insights when a streaming box (not TV) will be released into the market that's certified by IMAX for IMAX:DTS:X audio on Disney+

Happy Saturday fellas😊

This is all working only when you install the new beta firmware 12.8.6557, if you buy it, it still comes with ATV11 installed and that sucks.
Can you use it with my logitech harmony elite remote with hub ?
Does it do 3D isos?
I haven't tried that

Hey, Can you please give me the new android 12 update because it's been removed from the Dune Website ?
HDR works on TH-cam on the Shield. What are you seeing that I'm not? What doesn't work is HLG, but HDR10 works fine.
HLG doesn't work on shield?
@@bigredwag I've tried HLG files in Plex and on TH-cam. They work on my Roku both on Plex and TH-cam.

This is from a Russian company. Hardware likely from China. You might not like that either.
