Had my Nvidia Shield for 8 years now and I've never looked back. Totally worth the money and it has no other device that comes close. The Shield has never let me down and I've had various boxes and firestick s in that time that have failed but the Shield keeps going! In fact I've had 5 4k firesticks fail me in that time so to me the Nvidia Shield is by far No 1. Great vid tho and it looked a decent device. 👍
@@Bambam21476 The Shield is in a awkward middle ground of either being overkill or not good enough, there really isn't much the Shield is doing that a much cheaper streamer can't for normal people in practice. Those types of power user enthusiasts should probably be looking into HTPC options anyway, $200 ish can go far on eBay. The Shield's price still being what it was almost a decade later doesn't help its value case either. If you don't care about Nvidia's AI upscaling then you probably shouldn't need to be spending $100+ on a streamer. For the vast majority of people, Onn's $20 4k streaming box is just enough if not a bit overkill.
The biggest test for me now on any new box in the UK that is supposed to have all the official certifications is does it run BBC iPlayer, ITV X and Channel 4od. I've cut back a lot of my other services and now actually use these alot but they only seem to work on very select big brand boxes and sticks like Shield, Chromecast with Google TV and Amazon Fire devices.
As always, great review... Had my Homatics Box R 4K Plus for 18 months now - it's VERY good. I rate it way up there. So much so that I use it daily on my work desk as well as the Shield Pro (living room) and 2015 Shield in the bedroom! It's a winner. BTW it's a clone of the Nokia 8010 with a different remote and case - both made by SEI Robotics. Oh, I've had about 5 or 6 updates since I've had it... 👍

I have bought android boxes in the past, and went with firestick for visibility reasons. About 80% of the time I can't see were the indicator is on android while firestick is the opposite. If you can tell me ( and any others with similar problem ) of some way to enhance the indicator it would make it much easier to switch back to android boxes. I actually like the box you're presenting here but am worried about spending that much money on another box that I can't use.
I previously owned the Dune version. Useless, no native auto refresh rate with Kodi or Plex. Bought the Nvidia Shield pro (2019) to replace my 2015 version (still working) Very happy. For now, the shield is still king.
My 2015 shield chucked if a few months ago I was gutted but I've got the new version which is smaller & cheaper built ie not pure metal like the 2015 version but for streaming, gaming etc there really is no competition as yet, which is weird tbh
Crazy isn't it. My 2015 still running daily. The power supply croaked it about 5 yrs ago and Nvidia sent me a new one free of charge. Bulletproof is a good way to describe it!
How quickly does it download and install applications that's usually where a lot of devices downfall is against the Nvidia Shield but that may just be my opinion
How long will it take to be delivered to USA I bought the T95z plus took 3 weeks I want order anything any more that takes that long I can get stuff from china quicker than 3 weeks
The latest Amazon update has broken the ADB functionality which is needed by my apps, as well as apps like mouse toggle. I would complain to Amazon chat and tell them you paid for something that you can't download any more. Tell them the app was working fine before your device was updated. My apps have not changed for months, its the Amazon update that has broken them. You can also demand a refund as you paid for something that is not available/working any more. I can't see anybody buying this box over the Shield...at lease people know what their getting with the Nvidia Shield but to expect someone to buy some box for $150 with no real long brand history over the Shield your wasting your time!!! But keep up the good work my man.

I have already responded to this question multiple times man. I even made a video on it explaining that with the ADB block from Amazon - its impossible to use my apps. I have advised everyone to reach out to Amazon and demand a refund. Good Luck
@5guilty you don't have a clue as to what you are talking about. The shield has been updated quite regularly since it was released. You buy some of these other boxes and never get an update.
No DTS, No AI enchanced grapichs in SDR content, etc... so not even a close contender. How hard can it be to defeat a Nvidia Shield Pro that's this old already?
Purchased a number of different android boxes over the years (not owned a Nividia) had nothing but issues with them, with lack of updates, viruses crashing and bricking. I just don't trust these Chinese boxes anymore happy with 4k firestick

Shield Pro is clearly long overdue for a competitor but this ain't it, especially at $150 retail. This would have been nice at maybe $80.
So many good boxes these days. They're everywhere so it comes down to brand loyalty. I just bought the latest MeCool and love it.

Homatics 4K Plus box doesn't decode Dts HD MA so no good for me
It is getting dts codecs with android 12 and there is a android 12 beta available with dts codecs
