If they had 3 extra jewel slots then they would run more reliable defensive skills that would prevent them from getting hit in the first place.
It's not "High situational", because any monster that can inflict blight or a status will proc it, and it can even be procced by the environment. It's moderately situational at best, especially given the number of monsters that don't even need to actually hit you to inflict a blight, and how Fire and Blastblight can be cured by simply rolling. The actual reason no one talks about it is because there's a stigma surrounding the very concept of buffs that require you to get hit to proc, even if the benefit greatly outweighs the downside. Getting hit = bad, therefore skill that requires you to get hit = bad is the logic.

Chibi Plutia at the upper end of the mobster scale are the tempered elders and invaders. They hit you for half to two thirds of your health every time. So you will need to sacrifice two thirds of your health per 90 seconds to maintain this buff. Then you need to waste a good 5-10 seconds healing up from the hit so you could get that buff, so that really only 80 seconds uptime. That’s in addition to the damage or protection skills you lose to run the slots for this skill. It’s not worth it. So yes it’s highly situational. Then there’s airborne, which has a percentage increase on airborne attacks instead of straight increase, only requires one slot, doesn’t require being damaged, and doesn’t require extra time to heal. Okay, so I might be crazy, but on Xbox, if I try to sort armor by skills, coalescence is NOT on that list despite velkanas armor CLEARLY having it. Am I crazy or is this a bug? If I'm just blind, what page is it on?
Travis Williams very last page, at the bottom. Should be with Offensive Guard. (For filtering decos) When looking at armour at the smithy, it’s usually after the first set of armour set bonus skills. Sorry if im confusing you but it is there :D
In the old MH games you could just eat a poison mushroom and get poisoned, which would work well with this skill, considering it lasts a whole 90 seconds! Haven’t tested in the new game but I suppose you can’t poison yourself anymore? But there are so many things here and there in the new maps that can be used for this. Definitely is a good skill.
How do you get standalone Coalescence and Offensive Guard jewels? I've exclusively seen them as level 4 mixed jewels. Do I have to farm HR tempereds or what?
It does exist and it's a (if i remember right) rare 11 deco, so don't go back to high rank for it. Sounds like you're just getting unlucky. Regarding offensive guard, I don't know.
@@stormetro6046 In the MHWI builder there's a level 2 Offensive Guard jewel, so I'm assuming it exists. MR has indeed been very unkind compared to HR in terms of decos. I've gotten some bangers, like Satiated/Expert, but no Attack+ or Challenger+, or even another Expert+. I keep getting resistance jewels and other things I won't use outside of melding. Is it more efficient to farm tier 2 monsters still? Or are tier 3s the best choice for MR deco farming?
@@Idothinkysaurus What threat level to do depends on what rarity deco you want. Regarding expert+ jewel that's a rare 12 so it's basically our new attack deco in terms of how hard it'll be to get, possibly worse. If you're shooting in general for good decos tho, I would say threat 3 because there's no longer streamstones from investigations to make it the same as high rank where threat 2 was better for the good decos. Through threat 3 you would be getting a bunch of low rarity decos anyways.
Real reason why people don't used because master rank armor is very easy to get a lot attack but yes it's better if you can stack all together. Keep in mind too much attack is a trap in MR when you can easily get more critical with 3 critical boost jewel which is better dps bonus.
Don't know for sure, but I would assume "no". Those usually require specific buffs such as Impact Mantle or KO/Stamina Thief decorations due to being a part of the weapon's motion values rather than its visible stats.
I think a lot of people are conditioned to build for the "perfect run" which means they ignore great defensive or counter skills like this because they're imagining not getting hit. I actually ran Coalescence on my LS run against BV Vaal. It's pretty neat but not worth it if you need effluvia resist 3 instead.
That god damn evasion mantel equip + Vaal dodge, tho... I know what I'm pulling the hand lotion out to tonight.
(For filtering decos)
When looking at armour at the smithy, it’s usually after the first set of armour set bonus skills.
Sorry if im confusing you but it is there :D
then why dont you suggest people to wear AT Velk gamma head piece for LBG?????
Actually, it DOES proc after a stun or a bleed
Does power prolonger extend the coalescence effective time?
In the old MH games you could just eat a poison mushroom and get poisoned, which would work well with this skill, considering it lasts a whole 90 seconds! Haven’t tested in the new game but I suppose you can’t poison yourself anymore?
But there are so many things here and there in the new maps that can be used for this. Definitely is a good skill.
Having two resistors to make the elemental blights last less time could be useful with that skill
I have 3 offensive guard decorations by themselves. It’s rarity 11 and it’s a level 2 decoration
Real reason why people don't used because master rank armor is very easy to get a lot attack but yes it's better if you can stack all together. Keep in mind too much attack is a trap in MR when you can easily get more critical with 3 critical boost jewel which is better dps bonus.
Does the status boost also increase a hammers or HH's exhaust/KO values?
Don't know for sure, but I would assume "no". Those usually require specific buffs such as Impact Mantle or KO/Stamina Thief decorations due to being a part of the weapon's motion values rather than its visible stats.
Does the timer reset after you cure another blight when the skill is already active from curing a blight earlier?
I've just ben using it now recently and its in all my dualblades sets now
I still think it is named or translated wrong. I still end up calling it Convalescence, as it more accurately describes the trigger.
How do u keep spamming the 3 arrow shot??
I think a lot of people are conditioned to build for the "perfect run" which means they ignore great defensive or counter skills like this because they're imagining not getting hit. I actually go the other way; I don't tend to run it because I will often put enough ele resist on to not get blighted (or for Brachy I run blast res, for example). It's definitely a good skill for the likes of Teo and the Rath family, though, and another of those great single-point skills. Thanks for the video!
or they just don't have the damn deco lmao
@@sparks4142 Sure - I don't think that's the same consideration though, obviously you won't run it if you literally can't (you could build for it but I'm not sure it's worth going that much out of your way for). But of course anyone on the wrong end of the Desire Sensor has my sympathies, we're a missing something we desperately want which everyone else we know seems to have gotten! 😭
Take Blight resistance 2 with Coalescence, one roll and you are clear from the elemental blight and boom you are SSJ
People ARE using it. Just not the randoms you get on SOS that runs WR5.
Ikr wind resistance is a joke
@Josh derp huh?
Are you able to refresh the buff while it's still active?
I've seen plenty of people use this skill. Maybe newer players dont but it's still being used.
Yessss people learn more about this if I clear your blight for you as a healer you will basically keep this skill up indefinitely ❤️
Lol wait what? Did you even test it? Of course it works on both stun and bleed fam.
Running it on a dualblade build works godly with latent and 3 resent.
Love your videos mate. Thanks a lot 👍.
uh i am using it. sometimes over the atk boost depends on the time
Using this against bracky is amazing. Just go into it’s slim, roll it off and your set.
i style need to get my hands on the deco tho for the mantles
Stun can also activate it
I use this in my slice LBG raw build. Having an extra attack 4 is pretty awesome
Stun and bleed does work.
Its super good againts monsters who use of blights and stuff
Coalescence is the single biggest slept on skill in the game right now change my mind So broken
It actually works with stun and bleed
Everyone speaks about having jewels of it yet i habe 0 jewels of it just a charm lv2...feelsbadman
my master touch rajang great sword uses coal in its free lvl three slot
Can you eat poison mushrooms?
Yes but it won't poison you, mushroom cancer skill
Why is no one using it? Because there’s no TH-cam video showcasing it. Because people only play by the internet nowadays. Because people only copy online “meta” sets.
You speak as if it's possible for me to NOT get afflicted by SOME type of ailment during a fight lol. I dont gotta go outta my way to proc this. Its GUNNA happen lol
I totally miseed coalescence on mantles, nice tip, ty
Because it's too taxing for slots.
You forgot the the best way to Coalesenced: Being bad at the game
My favorite skill
