Well, If a Spanish swimmer can get a second chance after hitting the water way before the buzzer, She was in the correct position and should not even had been DSQ in the first place.
Well... the world record holder does not have a lot of competition in their home country, besides the Baguette men and legendary rivalries like Phelps and Lochte. I mean, very few countries have to COMPETE to go to the Olympics. Im from Norway and out two olympians in Rio are basically alone in dominating nationally. Or were, because we have two world-class male long distance swimmers now. But the best of them is over 30 secs ahead of the other on the 1500.
This happened to me before in a medley relay. I DQd my relay because in the freestyle leg, the officials said that I was past 45 degrees. Happened to me twice, cost my relays 2 first place wins
What do you mean by past 45 degrees? When you hit the wall & perform the flip turn & launch into underwater dolphin your face has to be either facing the side or down? If your face is so much as facing up/skyward (as in backstroke) you will be disqualified??
@@chatbud It's known as the Ryan Lochte Rule. You are not allowed to swim the freestyle leg of the IM or the Medley Relay in the manner of backstroke, fly, or breast. Ryan Lochte's upside-down underwater kick was so strong that he would kick that way as long as he could. So the rule is now that you can leave the wall with your shoulders toward the back, but when you make your first stroke or kick after leaving the wall, you have to be at or past vertical toward the breast. (The Ryan Lochte Rule does NOT apply to freestyle events. Only medleys.)
Once I got DSQ in. A breath stroke race when me and this other girl had the same cap and the other girl was kicking and they didn’t know who was doing it me or her so the DSQ both of us! Even worse I had came first!
while i love cammile and all, i do see why the officials would rule that DQ.Right as she beings her under waters, if you watch the rerun, you can see how her hips, not eyes, are more pointed up than down.
Tsungie Mashoko since its butterfly, when you push off the wall you have to be on your stomach. For backstroke, you have to be on your back when you push off the wall
In butterfly turns, you can't turn onto your back (because the race is swum on your belly). They thought Adams had turned past vertical, which would have disqualified her, but the final ruling was that she didn't.
Unlike Rowdy, I don't care where her eyes are pointing. People tend to turn their heads in the direction they're about to go, which for her is rotating toward the breast. I'm just looking at her shoulders when she leaves the wall, and they looked vertical to me. So as close as it was, it's the right outcome.
The last time I got DQ'd was about two years ago and it was in 200 breast, and they thought I had touched with one hand, but one was just lower than the other and you could clearly see on both video replay and in person that I touched with both hands, they ruled it as a DSQ and I got wiped out of the competition. It was horrible and now I have never touched without both hands at the same level again.
DQ should have stood. Gaining that kind of advantage is exactly what the rule is there to prevent. It's not a coincidence that she magically jumped into a commanding lead after that turn.
@@someinternetperson They didn't make a mistake. They just gave in to the pressure because they didn't want to disqualify one of the favorites. It's no different than basketball refs not calling fouls on star players. Not because they didn't commit a foul, but because nobody wants to watch games where the best players are sitting on the bench. And the rule is not that you can't be on your back. The rule is that you must be on your stomach. The entire point of the rule is to require that you reorient yourself into the proper position BEFORE you begin swimming again. She absolutely made no attempt to do that and she absolutely knew she was cheating when she did it.

45 degrees or 90 degrees? 45 degrees isn't the standard for any stroke.

Miya it’s her shoulders, not her hips
Ik, i meant that i could understand where they got mixed up and falsely DQ'd her
Miya oh ok
Horrible. You must absolutely be certain of an infraction for a DQ. Not think I saw, maybe saw. Just an over zealous official. Shameful display.
@@jersdream Who''s to say the official wasn't absolutely certain they saw a DQ?
Thought it was only about who got there first not who's facing where
Tsungie Mashoko since its butterfly, when you push off the wall you have to be on your stomach. For backstroke, you have to be on your back when you push off the wall
For freestyle you can be either because you can do any stroke in the official ruling however people just swim frontcrawl

When I was younger I met camomile and figured out that she breaths sideways
I met Chammile Adams!!!

I cried the last time i got dqd
But then they overturned mine and i cried of happiness
the last time i dqed i did it on purpose!

YOOO idk how they do it bc I swam my first 200 fly a few weeks ago and I was dead 💀. IT WAS FUN, but I was dead 😂
Arianna Salcedo yes, there are always mixed emotions 😂

She wasn’t even on her back
She doesn't have be flat on her back to be disqualified. Like mentioned in the video past vertical counts as on your back.
What an amazing announcer
I swam with Hannah Saiz before!
Michelle Gutierrez-Jakobi me too honey she was my teacher
I get DQed at 25m just so I don’t have to swim 200m fly

Rowgue51 yes, but it didn’t break any rules, she was not on her back after the turn, after they checked closer they realized they made a mistake
