If we ever got a sequel series where Mabel and dipper are teens and paranormal investigators coming back to gravity falls, this would definitely be the intro music
Lol I imagine something like that too, except maybe like one day in their teen years they start having dreams about gravity falls or bill or something but they don’t actually remember their time there so it would be like they go back and they look old enough so that people may kinda recognize them but like maybe not totally idk
I like it, but it doesn’t quite fit the characters. It fits Bill INCREDIBLY well. This would’ve been great music to play during Weirdmageddon. I think they were really going for weird and mysterious, cause Gravity Falls itself is weird and mysterious, but the actual characters are more open and happy and sweet. So it wouldn’t fit them too well
It's kinda weird. This song sounds creepy and a little menacing at it's normal speed but if you put the speed at 1.25, it sounds like a lighthearted adventurous song.
Wow, you’re totally right, changing the speed gives it that little bit of extra energy it needed. Now it kinda sounds like the real version was slowed down lol
Late response but that's what i love about it. In the previews, i thought Gravity Falls was going to be an intricate thrill/comedy series about the super natural. Like So Real from Disney's past meets Scooby-Do, where the show challenges the audience to find patters and piece the bigger story together using smart dialogue and inderect clues. Like a REAL mystery show. This music matches up to what i wanted GF to be, an occult kids-turned-detective show.
Get rid of the awkward preteen problems and the 'omg randumb' elements, THEN it starts to get close. *(long explanation ahead)* If you listen to Neil's "other" unused intro he did (the other song was the opening, this song was meant to be closing), he hits exactly what i hoped the show would be like: two kids solving mysteries that no one else knows or cares about until those other people get dragged into the mix. Mable would be daring and jump head first into things, not worry about popularity. Coincidentally, Louise from Bob's burgers fits well (same voice actor). Dipper would be constantly studying ancient text and finding new clues, not be worried about 'manliness' or obsessing so hard over Wendy. Soos would enable the twins, helping them uncover clues with his knowledge of the town. Not be moron, or be ran-dumb. Wendy would be told to watch after the twins (sometimes), and be forced to go along on adventures yet wholly show disinterest. The other kids would create a dynamic of disbelief in the mysteries until they are proven. Since it's supposed to be summer, there wouldn't be enough of a popularity angle to affect the twins. Stan would not be Mr Krabs. Other adults would really know or care about what the kids are up to. The cops wouldn't be fools. There would be zero focus ever on the tours save for passing mention. Also, there would be smart dialogue.
aLLiance Gaming I'm just wishing it had more purposeful comedy, instead of random humor. Shows like Dexter's lab and Ed, Edd, and Eddy thrived on specific jokes based on developed characters, not cheap random fluff.
Sounds like a theme if the twin's roles were switched perspective wise. While the original one fits Dipper's view more with the whistling that sets a mysterious setting but an overall uplifting kind of adventurous tone that really shows his character's desire to discover what's going on with the place and the journals. This one starts off as goofy and keeps a playful beat but there are instruments that accompany it and create darker, creepier undertones- which fits Mabel more as even despite the grim situation she'll always look in the positive side and keep that silly nature.
This totally works as Bill's theme The beginning starts off as friendly and calm, kinda like how Bill makes himself out to be innocent at first, but then as the song continues, it starts to sound more like "watch your back, kid" kinda like how Bill progresses.

This doesn't really fit in with the mysterious, exciting feeling that Gravity Falls gives, although it still has this surreal, off-beat feel to it. It sounds like something that is trying to sound friendly and inviting, but has a uncomfortable, creepy undertone to it. It sounds like something you might hear in one of the weirder episodes of Courage the Cowardly Dog.
***** True. I remember those things, they were pretty horrifying. Maybe it'll fit better with the episodes of CtCD with weirder and funnier enemies, like the Duck Brothers and the headless alien chicken, and the deer.
Dawn Darrell Samaitha you just explained why it would fit with gravity falls. The “friendly and disturbing” thing about this theme is right for Gravity Falls. Gravity falls is a place trying to be friendly but deep inside is truly disturbing. So..it fits well. You explained it
This feels more like the sinister side of Gravity Falls, the kind of music that lets you know something isn't quite right while trying to sound upbeat. Kinda makes you want to look over your shoulder.
No i agree especially in the middle it feels like in the theme we got dipper and mabel start floating and the thumps feel like the beginning of the actual theme i like to think this inspired the final theme we got :)
Fun fact: Neil also made an unused song for the first part of the weirdmaggedon when bill (presumably) is presenting himself to the town, the song and this one has the same guitar and some motifs in common
I feel like this could've been the theme for season two. and then we could've had a bill-ified version of it for the finale eps. would make the rock version of the og theme in the finale that much more impactful if we hadn't heard it in a bit. to show that they're kicking bill out and taking things back to how they were before he showed up.
I agree with all the other comments, it’s a sick tune but just doesn’t capture what gravity falls is. It totally gives me the vibes of Over the Garden Wall, though.
Really? Over the Garden Wall? Honestly it might've been a long time or I'm just used to the classic piano, but I feel like Over the Garden Wall's theme fits better with a slower, softer song with nostalgic tinges and feel here and there. Like a gentle lullaby of an autumn evening. I kinda agree with most of the comments, that this unused theme fits more of a 'happy' show with darker and creepy undertones.
@@petalleaf2808 Yeah, I can’t really disagree with that. But I remember a specific track when they were running from Lorna (I think? I’m not entirely sure if it was her or the beast) where the song had a similar vibe. Idk, maybe I’m wrong there. Definitely see where you’re coming from, though.
nah mah, Over the Garden Wall's music is so much more woody and haunting while this song is just chaotic. I could see it being used for bill cypher or something
whenever i hear this i get this vision around the middle at like 0:27 of dipper on the floor, reading an old book, getting really close to it while reading it with a monocle bc the writing is too small, and suddenly, the library he's reading this on glows with pulsing yellow glowing eyes all around him, as he jumps in fear
I find myself coming back to this song every day, the song stuck in my head like a jumpscare, the image, the off beat tune, the creepiness of it all lurking inside it.
I’m amazed that this could’ve been the intro, not as iconic as the one we got but the fact that it’s just made by Neil cicareiga is just iconic in it of itself
This really encapsulates the "mysteries" of Gravity Falls, feeling that something is off about the "normal" town. While it sounds uplifting and adventurous, it's giving a really weird vibe, it's like trying to get away from the truth and happenings arounf Gravity Falls. The one we have while also having an uplifting and adventurous melody, it gives the sense of mystery and wishing to know the truth instead of running away from it, which is what the show is all about.
First thing i thought second time I've seen this, first time i didn't watch the series and wasn't aware of Gravity Falls's miseries, so it doesn't count.
I can just imagine the animated sequence starting out with Dipper and Mable reluctantly going to visit Gruncle Stan, but as the beat drops, they find the book and the sequence gets weirder and weirder from there. At 0:42, the title fades into view, flickering with subliminal messages. I prefer the actual theme, but I definitely would not have skipped the intro if this was the song.
Ooohhhh I can see that. I imagined a different scenario The whole intro is from the chest down no faces, as it goes we see things move around them and at the end the dollar bill blinks, staring at the camera. The only face in the whole intro. Better for a different show probably.
The fact that is gets more and more distorted really fits the show well, it starts as an innocent and goofy show but as it goes on it gets more serious
TH-cam: why don’t I just recommend this to people right now, *it’s just been eight whole years* :D Edit: Oh hey, I got recommended an animation of this 👁👄👁
normally when hearing alternate versions of what could've been a popular show's theme song it doesn't sound nearly as good as the one that was chosen but this is actually really incredible. As much as I do prefer the song that was picked for the Gravity Falls theme this feels just as impressive, it just has a more haunting vibe to it and less of a mystery vibe. I absolutely love it though
I think I prefer this to the official one,but I do believe it doesn’t work as well as the actual one,Butttt if you have look a the original pilot episode it seems to fit that ~aesthetic~ really well, perhaps when they re-deigned the show they decided that I new song was needed too fit better I doubt that’s the reason but it’s something I thought of while listening. Also one other thought I had was that the old style is so cool and it’s really sad too see it go unused as it’s a lot more unique than the kind of generic style they went with don’t get me wrong there’s nothing bad about how it looks but I feel as tho they didn’t change it for a creative decision but most likely It was cheaper which is sad but understandable. -Luther:)

I like this. It really doesn’t have the same vibe as the one we have now, and rather has a message saying “watch out, something’s behind you” rather than the mystery vibe we’re used to. So in my opinion, the one they ended up choosing felt deeper and more intriguing of an intro as well as fitting the theme of the show better. It just feels like there’s more to unpack in the current one, and more that you would WANT to unpack. In this version, I personally feel like you would kinda just start walking faster like someone was following you. It wouldn’t really have the same reaction. However, I do really like this version. I saw someone that said it could have been something that played when Bill appeared on screen, and honestly yeah. I could definitely see that. It would fit really well in something like that
This theme actually is fitting, but not fitting at the same time.. And so is the other unused theme. This one fits the more spooky, mysterious side of the show..The other one fits the silly, funny side of the show..However, the one we know and love, and use today, is in the middle. Which makes it perfect!
This is just so creepy, I've read another comment similar to this but its so friendly at first then it goes all sinister and has this uneasy feeling about it, but for some reason I can't stop listening to it, it's really good, definitely more if a Bill Cipher theme than an opening theme.
This definitely has more of a “Bill vibe” going on. The word I’d use to describe it is...whimsical. It’s chaotic but also kinda goofy/nonsensical. This version definitely captures the more humorous and insane aspects of GF. Not so much the darker/horror aspects.
God, I live for the unique tempo/rhythm of this intro. This is a bop. I wish they could have done as anime do, and have the current op for the first season, and this for the second season.
I really love Neil Cicierega’s song about Weirdmagadon that he wrote for Bill Cypher. I get that they didn’t use it because it didn’t fit with the way they wanted to tell the story but would have lived if they did the final animation on it.
God, every time I listen to this, I get *so unnerved* , which is the point, but still. I feel like if this was the intro they went with, little me would have never gotten into gravity falls, just because the intro freaked me out. Don’t get me wrong, this song is great and I love Neil’s work, but I’m happy they went with the more upbeat alternative.
I can imagine this as a Weirdmagedon intro, changing into happy/normal - creepy Bill stuff when the music tones change, and in the 0:23 all starts getting chaotic
I swear to god Neil is literally everywhere like holy shit I keep finding songs I’ve listened to and liked and re found them just to realize yep Lennon Demon made this one

Dawn Darrell Samaitha you just explained why it would fit with gravity falls. The “friendly and disturbing” thing about this theme is right for Gravity Falls. Gravity falls is a place trying to be friendly but deep inside is truly disturbing. So..it fits well. You explained it
I get more of a Billy and Mandy vibe from it personally but I agree.
th-cam.com/video/4IFwYbm_x7w/w-d-xo.html
I know GF can get kinda creepy, but this is TOO creepy. I agree with everyone else about it fitting Bill and Weirdmageddon though.
On second thought, after re-listening to it, yeah, I'm actually starting to dig it, yeah this could work...
For a second I thought you meant girl friend
@@youdonthavehumor2545 lmao
This feels more like the sinister side of Gravity Falls, the kind of music that lets you know something isn't quite right while trying to sound upbeat. Kinda makes you want to look over your shoulder.
This song is really great! It sounds like a world upside down, like there's something not quite right with it.
+EthalaRide and do you think gravity falls theme is mysterious? its more jolly
+Mickey Mouse nah it just fits the mystery of mable and dipper :P

I do feel like elements of this carried over into the actual intro we got, though, which is cool, even if maybe just coincidence, or me mishearing.

Spittin facts, I liek it
I agree with all the other comments, it’s a sick tune but just doesn’t capture what gravity falls is. It totally gives me the vibes of Over the Garden Wall, though.
yeah, I can see that
I can see that. I love Over the Garden Wall.
nah mah, Over the Garden Wall's music is so much more woody and haunting while this song is just chaotic. I could see it being used for bill cypher or something
This seems like it would fit that fan made ‘Reverse Falls’ AU
PLEASE
That would be cool
Or the pilot version :D its kinda goofy
"Oh hey i used to watch this show!"

"Oh wow"
Fun fact: neils sister was a storyboard artist for Gravity Falls, which is probably how Neil had the chance to do this.
whenever i hear this i get this vision around the middle at like 0:27 of dipper on the floor, reading an old book, getting really close to it while reading it with a monocle bc the writing is too small, and suddenly, the library he's reading this on glows with pulsing yellow glowing eyes all around him, as he jumps in fear
This would've terrified my 5 year old self, I've never been this uncomfortable with a tune, I'd like to see how they'd animate this...
Did the show itself not terrify your 5 year old self?
@@dkisausome well, i mean i only saw season 1 at that age lol, and it wasnt that scary for me, maybe cause of all the humour, im not sure
The father credits of stone bill already creeped me out so this would have mortified me
I find myself coming back to this song every day, the song stuck in my head like a jumpscare, the image, the off beat tune, the creepiness of it all lurking inside it.
This gives me over the garden wall morphed with gravity falls vibes and I'm here for it

It sounds so creepy and horrifying but with an attempt to mask that strangeness with joyous music in order to lire someone in. I love it
I feel like this fits with the pilot episode but not the actual show

This creeps me out to the max, but at the same time I can't stop listening to it.
Although, if I heard this song come on the TV, I'd probably run XD
Screw you. This is epic.
I..actually never stated that I disliked this song.
Tya Wright well, I misunderstood. I apologize.
PROFESSOR VENOMOUS 😳🥺
dude- i feel this exact same way but i didn’t know how to put it into words.. thank you for doing it for me😀
I think that this one probably embodies the weirdness of bill better so I would have used it for weirdmageddon
I’m amazed that this could’ve been the intro, not as iconic as the one we got but the fact that it’s just made by Neil cicareiga is just iconic in it of itself
That isn't how it works. The only reason why this isn't 'iconic' and the original is is because it's not the one they used.
@@korvo3427 bro shut the fuck up
This really encapsulates the "mysteries" of Gravity Falls, feeling that something is off about the "normal" town.
This version feels like it's saying "You may look, but you shouldn't touch"
That butterfly though it looks like bill with the yellow and eyes...

First thing i thought second time I've seen this, first time i didn't watch the series and wasn't aware of Gravity Falls's miseries, so it doesn't count.

Man I love this version a lot. If a sequel is ever made of gravity falls please use this.
I imagined a different scenario
The whole intro is from the chest down no faces, as it goes we see things move around them and at the end the dollar bill blinks, staring at the camera. The only face in the whole intro.
Better for a different show probably.
Wasn’t this also released in spirit phone as a bonus track? I think it’s called gravitron
Well that's what everyone's saying so probably
Ah thank you, I wondered why I recognised it!
This is the perfect feeling of "cheer up, the end is near"
This doesn't make me scared and not uncomfortable. I don't know what I'm feeling I just think this theme is fascinating.
Ik me too. It's gives me this weirdly satisfying vives.
It gave me... The Bill Cipher feeling.
Yea!
Same
The fact that is gets more and more distorted really fits the show well, it starts as an innocent and goofy show but as it goes on it gets more serious
The shear amount of anxiety that this music gives me despite sounding kinda upbeat is amazing

8 YEARS SINCE GRAVITY FALLS WHAAAATATTttttatatat
Yeah basically
Denial obviously.
normally when hearing alternate versions of what could've been a popular show's theme song it doesn't sound nearly as good as the one that was chosen but this is actually really incredible. As much as I do prefer the song that was picked for the Gravity Falls theme this feels just as impressive, it just has a more haunting vibe to it and less of a mystery vibe. I absolutely love it though
huh. i never knew that this was an unused theme, the first time i heard the song was on spirit phone (song title is gravitron)
Now that I know Neil’s name, I keep seeing more and more stuff made by him. Mans is literally everywhere and it’s incredible

This is such an awesome comment. I would love that too. 🌉🚗
Jessica Donbavand area 51
Oh THIS is where this alternate version is from! I'd heard this in fan vids before, but I had no idea it was an alternate theme by Neil Cicierega!

I actually like this better than the one they have now, mainly because this one encompasses on the weirdness and adventure of the show.
Sounds more like an ending theme tbh, I think the op was perfect
@@ItsSupercat94 Ending theme, as in for the credits? Or do you mean for the end of the show?
Even the stuff that was cut from this show is great
I like this. It would fit really well in something like that
i jus come back to listen to this every so often idk why its so intriguing
Damn from this and the scrapped bill song, I honestly want like an alternate version of Gravity Falls where Lemon Demon's assets were used
I just wanna cry...
It’s give me a nostalgia feeling and I even didn’t knew this song
This was done by Neil? Oh, I love you Neil, baby.
real clever giving the mystery feeling by composing the song in 3/4
Feels like great track for a videogame
This theme actually is fitting, but not fitting at the same time.. And so is the other unused theme. This one fits the more spooky, mysterious side of the show..The other one fits the silly, funny side of the show..However, the one we know and love, and use today, is in the middle. Which makes it perfect!
This is just so creepy, I've read another comment similar to this but its so friendly at first then it goes all sinister and has this uneasy feeling about it, but for some reason I can't stop listening to it, it's really good, definitely more if a Bill Cipher theme than an opening theme.

Yeh it has a creepy feel to it O.o
This definitely has more of a “Bill vibe” going on.
The word I’d use to describe it is...whimsical. It’s chaotic but also kinda goofy/nonsensical.
This version definitely captures the more humorous and insane aspects of GF. Not so much the darker/horror aspects.
God, I live for the unique tempo/rhythm of this intro. This is a bop. I wish they could have done as anime do, and have the current op for the first season, and this for the second season.
I'm pretty sure it's a 7/4 time signature (or maybe on bar of 4/4 and one bar of 3/4)
i love how the butterfly is yellow and has eyes pattern, probably referencing Bill Cipher
don't forget neils sister was also a board artist on gravity falls lol. the ciceregas are absolute legends man
I really love Neil Cicierega’s song about Weirdmagadon that he wrote for Bill Cypher.
I've watched this twice and I'm already checking behind me
I swear to god Neil is literally everywhere like holy shit I keep finding songs I’ve listened to and liked and re found them just to realize yep Lennon Demon made this one
