- A stop motion review of Action Toys Machine Robo Series Revenge of Cronos BUGGY ROBO (2021). MRS-12. He's also known as Go-Bots Buggyman.
This is a review of the toy and a discussion of the overall Action Toys Revenge of Cronos toyline which fizzled out over time.
He looks like a Daft Punk robot.

new vid!!!!!!!!
I shot this a while back. It took me forever to finish editing.
@@CardboardBots What!?!??! You responded!? I am a huuge fan ofyou work, and I'm actually working on a stop-motion review film series inspired BY YOU (and The Lazy Eyebrow, but yeah) MOSTLY YOU!
Hey, you got some swell animations on your channel. You're doing great.
@@CardboardBots I KNOW I SAW YOU COMMENTING ON MY VIDS!!!!! THANK YOU SO MUCH!!!! YOU ARE MY FAVORITE TH-camR!!!!!!!!!!
@@CardboardBots YOU PINNED MY COMMENT!!!!!! YOU ARE SO AWESOME
Dang. Always love when you tackle a go bot. A always learn so much
Love the way the feet operate, and that daft punk bit got a good chuckle outta me
Thanks, man. I could have made it shorter, but I had a lot of speculation about Action Toys I wanted to put out there into the world. I love the intrigue about how they danced around rights issues.
Yo, your here too?
@@Autobot-Revs we're everywhere, bro. Takin' names and chewing bubble gum.
@@CardboardBots OMG
@@CardboardBots and we're aaaaalllll outta names
"Buggy Man" (GoBots) was the very first "transforming" robot I ever saw in person. My cousin got him and when my mom dropped me off to play (we mostly played with Star Wars toys at the time) I was instantly smitten with it. I wouldn't get my own transforming toy until the Diakron (AKA Diaclone) cars began rolling into local stores at Christmas time. I don't think that anyone born after these became a global phenomenon can really understand how cool these toys were back then.
What a great memory! These things were our high-technology back then. They were our iPads! Japanese engineered transforming robot cars!
Oh man that final transformation was BUTTERY SMOOTH!!!!
Thanks so much. Those sorts of quick transformations are a type of magic to me.
These Machine Robo updates by Action Toys are fantastic
This guy has great proportions. Great review! Thank you from Perth.
Another viewer mentioned that he had very "human" proportions. Maybe that's what you're responding to as well.
@@CardboardBots I think so too. Even when I compare Gobots to the G1 Minibots, they are so much better proportioned. Shame they didn't take off like the TFs.
I was hoping for a Turbo figure myself. This was a great line of figures for sure.
Mark, it was a line that had some hits and misses. I'm glad the line exists. Weird how Turbo/Supercar Robo didn't cross the finish line. They showed him off very early on.
from the fact everyone but the gobots, including alternate oversea incarnations of the same toy-to-video characters, had some history, their success at the time and fans to go around and be still valuable characters to this day, while the gobots themselves didnt, we can say that a valuable lesson hanna barbera didn't follow, was to play to the immagination of what the toys can do, rather than the "as close as possible" approach they went to.
this figure on his own is just ok. there's a surprising amount of buggy and buggy like figure that transforms into humanoid forms, thinking about it. I swear there's at least one of spiderman doign the thing
I'd like to see the Spider-Man man who turned into a buggy. I assume it was his spider-buggy?
I have a few bots from this line and was really looking forward to Buggy Robo, but couldn't find him and missed out. But at least i get to see him in sweet stop-motion and learn about dune buggies!
Thanks, man. I do the same thing. I miss bots that I like and have to experience them vicariously through other people's youtube videos.
The animation and storytelling are top notch! Wow, Jizaitoys! I love that dude's designs! I didn't know he actually worked in the toy space. I just thought he was a S-tier fan engineering. Awesome video :)
Thanks. Jizai Toys' work gets picked up for production all the time. The initial Newage Ironhide/Ratchet mold was his design. I'm not sure if companies buy his designs or simply reverse engineer them. He might even release the CAD files. Why do I say this? Well, his Mecha Christ design was being sold online by someone 3D printing them. Jizai Toys is a mystery to me, I want to know more about them and their process and their motivations.
The Daft Punk head was something I never picked up on. Great work, as always!
Maybe Daft Punk got one of their helmet ideas from this bot.
I'm gonna say it: This guy looks cooler than G1 Beachcomber. Also, nice animations, my dude. That part where you removed him from the packaging is smoooth
Thanks. I love to involve the packaging and creative unboxings in animations where I can. It's just fun. I like both Beachcomer and Buggy Robo as toys. I think g1 Beachcomber is more interesting in his transformation, but if a mugger was chasing me, a die-cast Buggyman would do more damage to my attacker if I threw it at him!
Shame the line ended as it was hitting its stride.
I'd like to know more about what happened and why their releases got so far behind.
I love the look of this figure. Now if there was a second figure with the other Daft Punk helmet, I'd have to have them.
Apparently, there are Daft Punk action figures from SH Figuarts... who knew?
that bot looks like a ton of fun
He's pretty neat. A little pricey.
Hehe, This video was fun! :)
Thanks. Share the love.
Missed your reviews dude! Glad to see you back
I'm glad when drunk drivers miss me. Stay off the road, ya booze bag.
love the intro lol :D man i love gobots and that new line of Action toys... wish they'd make more regular releases... i need a new updated Tux & Dive-Dive which are favorites of mine
They whole line was a mixed bag. I really really want to get Tough Trailer!
Great content as usual!
Thanks very much.
THE KING HAS RETURNED
I didn't see Grimlock. 🤷
Awesome review as always!
Thank-you, my man!
@@CardboardBotsYou're welcome!
The legal history is like "you played with the toy, then you saw the anime, now put another toy on your shelf to stare at occasionally!"
It looks like a good toy, but I'm not a fan of what I feel are overly human proportions. I guess that's a criticism of the line in general.
I think you're onto something with the human proportions. So much of this line has this. Tall skinny bots that have those proportions. It doesn't bother me, but I did think that this guy was very slim. His machine bits aren't overly exaggerated.
@@CardboardBots to be honest, I'm impressed they manage such a transformation, but it's just not my style, which is part of my overall reservation about 'cartoon accurate' robot modes.
@@originaluddite The Gobots cartoon designs were accurate... to a fault. They didn't embellish anything.
@@CardboardBots true, they were simpler and had less kibble, but I personally find that kibble enhances the look of a converting robot. The exception was those larger Gobots with the huge heads. Now, that's a look.
Great review man ya made me kinda want to get this guy now
Thanks so much. Sometimes, I worry that I inspire others to spend large sums of money on silly robots. He is good, but with minor flaws.
Almost made me want a gobot!
Fantastic video
While I did have my nit picks with this toy, he did lead me to getting gobots Buggyman. And THAT toy makes me very happy. 😃
@@CardboardBots I see what you did there.
Only gobot I have is scooter. Maybe someday I'll be brave enough to look into more
I love this video a nice animation quality
Thank you so much.
Dying to get my hands on one of, no, three of these for some custom Transformers.
The ones that I have are pretty fun.
There should be another one that has a head similar to the other daft punk member
That would be way cool.
He looks like he's about to get lucky
We're all going to get lucky...
Absolutely amazing .. funny thing .. I literally just got 2 beachcombers
I recently got the legacy one, but not with time to get it in the review.
I missed you man, great to see you back.
You missed me? Aw, shucks. I'm never really gone. I'm always lurking.
Most likely I'm not getting notifications also ^_^ @@CardboardBots
I had to put this somewhere: if a bots transformation requires a lot of lifting, reversing, folding, tucking, and hiding panels to where most of the transformation is just doing that, would you consider that a "shell-former"? I kind of do. You are just hiding the shell a bit by collapsing it and turning it inside out.
Yes, I would probably consider such a transformation to be a shell former. Luckily this bot is not.
Sometimes, shell forming is necessary.
@@CardboardBots yeah. I was watching another video on a rail gun or something and thinking of other bots that do that. I had no better location to make this comment.
Outstanding video! Thank you!
I really loved this series of "Masterpiece GoBots," but as you say, the tolerances on some of them just didn't work out in places. And if I'm bring honest, some of them were a bit too panel-heavy, with obvious seams, gaps, and hinges breaking up the sculpt. But they're still immense fun, with some nifty engineering, and I hope to be able to complete the set someday (I missed out on five or six of them). Such a shame the line limped to an untimely oblivion!
Thanks so much.
I was looking forward to a modern Shuttle Robo, but I wasn't thrilled on their take on him. Very panel-ly and awkward. Not cute at all.
So would his radio gun be considered a BOOMbox? LOL
I'm telling my father that you stole from him.
Because that must be his Dad joke.
Awesome
No, you're awesome.
Yeah!!!
I like that leg transformation, shame it's not solid
That leg transformation is sweet. My guess is that the connection could be enhanced with a dab of super glue to thicken up a spot. Or maybe a temporary material like clear nail polish or furniture polish. I use blue sticky tag to make it more secure during my animation.
god i wish we can get more go-bot 3d party
Me too. I think 3rd party could really make them rock if they wanted to.
... A RIGHTS ISSUE KEPT US FROM GETTING TURBO?!?!?!
That's what I'm speculating.
I think a lot of the Machine Robo toy designs are really cool, I personally just wish these toys were much less expensive. I would love Megahouse or whoever else gets the Machine Robo license to make an updated Pathfinder/UFO robo figure one day, though that will probably not happen.
Me too. I don't think I'll get into the Megahouse stuff, though. Something seems off about it. Still expensive.
@@CardboardBots I only have 1 Megahouse figure, Rod Drill/Screwhead, thanks to the Robot Chicken skit. It is indeed expensive for what it is and the transformation engineering seems underbaked in my opinion. Apparently the Megahouse figures are better than their Action Toys counterparts, but don't quote me on that as I don't have any first hand experience with Action Toys figures and everyone's definition of "better" is different.
Fantastic video 👍👍👍🤩🤩😎
You're fantastic!
@@CardboardBots Thanks and your welcome 👍😎
Thanks
Buggy Robo is a good figure 👍😎
@@DBWalks2010He is good, just with some tolerance issues.
So it's a family name, from a long line of robos? Like how you give us a Shot of figuring out the bots you use when you Drop a new video. Thanks CB.
I have so many ideas and so many bots purchased that I want to review. My only limit is time and energy and willpower. Everything you see is something I want to make a video about!
Its nice to see cool robots im not familiar with
Thanks, man. It's all about learning new stuff about bots.
Woooooow
Tanks!
I do not parts swap unless it’s with the same mold and redecos.
That makes sense. All the new combinations will still transform
@@CardboardBots yup. I don’t wanna limit 2/3rds of the toy’s functions.
In the case of Autobot X or that Megatron/Ratchet abomination? I’d make an exception. Or, like, Rack’n’Ruin.
On an aside, why haven’t they made an Autobot X RED figure yet? That’s almost a guarantee buy from most G1 collectors, in my opinion.
Epic
No, you're epic.
@@CardboardBots thank you 😄
@@channel5slimdanganimation539 you make some fun vids

lol I speak some French and I love this video
Thanks. I hope my French attempts were not too awful.
@@CardboardBots Lol they pretty good
Beachcomber got a upgrade🤨
That reminds me, they just released a new Beachcomber.
My favorite insecticon, to bad he got killed off in the 86 movie
Poor bugger.
@@CardboardBots sad that he bugged the other cons too much
@@donutimusprimal3405 Ooooh, that's a stinker!

Woot! Woot!
caaaaardboard bots!
Hackusprimmmmaaahhhh!
Despite looks, he ain't no Beachcomber.
That reminds me. I got the new Legacy Beachcomber recently. I should put them together to see which is better.
@@CardboardBots Also POTP Beachcomber on that matter.
Gonna need you to find a few more woosh fx for that intro 2 minutes of repeat wooshes.
You're absolutely right. It's hard to justify different sound effects for the same movement... maybe for different masses. There's a few places where I did used a different swoosh sfx. Most notably during the elbow articulation. I've got access to about 4 or 5 different swoosh sfx. The other thing I could do is to mix the volume lower on different swooshes so it's not so obviously repetitive.
Slap an Autobot sticker on him and its Beachcomber
They do share some striking similarities, don't they. He was a bad guy in GoBots.
Kinda looks just like one of Lazy Eyebrow's videos. Same type of format to a tee.
Yes, I based my work upon his format.
have you ever thought to do a power rangers / super Sentai episode
Sort of. I'd like to get my hands on the Flash Titan toy that became Tough Trailer.
he speaks french
!
Yes, because he looks like the guy from Daft Punk... who is French.

Good eye! He's on his way to a tax write- off.
My bf gave me Buggyman in red. He and I both love gobots. :)
A red Buggy Robo!? That's so rare. Can you post a picture of it in the Facebook gobots group? I'd love to see it next to one of your Crashers!

Why is he french it makes no sense!?!
Machine Robo was huge in France
It's a joke about Daft Punk. Everyone says that his head looks like the helmet from one of the Daft Punk guys. They are French. So I made Buggy Robo speaks French. I know, it's a lame joke.
@@CardboardBotsNo its actually good hehe 🙃
The American Gobots show was terrible. Basically gave off preschool, Transformers rip-off vibes...even back then (even though it hit the market before Transformers cartoon).
If we had gotten something like they had in Japan that blew Transformers out of the water...idk but that would have been outstanding.
It had its charm and got compelling near the end, but it was definitely the uncool cousin next to the TF cartoon. Scooter had a very annoying voice.
@@CardboardBots I don't remember much about it. I tried to watch it years later after I got back into Transformers, but remember that I couldn't because it seemed really kiddy. And agreed, that Scooter was BURNED into my brain even after all these years. Him and Jar Jar should go hang out.
Looing back, the Gobots actually did have some really good toys.
