In Revenge of Cronos Rod Drill and Blue Jet are two of the main heroic characters. Rod Drill is a wrestler and Blue Jet is a swordsman. They travel Chonos with their friend Rom Stol and fight evil.
I have about half of the Action Toys line and they're quite good, although i customized the leaders into GoBots. These Megahouse versions look better, but i wish they were GoBots styled. They've made lots of Japanese anime toys like Mospeada Cyclones btw. Bike Robo is already sold out on BBTS!
You can tell they know people are buying them as GoBots because they are making Bike Robo and Eagle Robo, who is NOT a major characters in Revenge of Cronos.
I got into the Action Toys line. They are SCOUT SIZED. Don't let anyone tell you differently. The one i was most disappointed with was Blackbird Robo b/c too much of the(die cast) wings do not really transform, & just sit on the sides of his legs; while the rest of him seems flimsy. The colors on Missile & Tank Robos complement that Toys r Us Primus re-color, so they got re-purposed as guards on 'Moon Base 1' in my collection.
Thanks for comparing! I’m in the opposite camp as I went in on the action toys. I would like the scale to be bigger, but the die cast is nice and the transformations were excellent. I can already see in these shots that the new versions have really overly simplified transformations which might be intentional as an homage to the original toys. I am disappointed that it looks like the action toys prototypes are off the table.
That space shuttle ....... makes me wonder if action toys was related to FansProject because it looked very similar to their decade old blast off figure that went with the energon bruticus type figures.
Cool video! Thank you! I love GoBots, and really quite liked the Action Toys figures (and yeah, the tolerances and clearances were extremely finicky in some places on some figures), but I don't think I want to start collecting another whole line of these, unless they decide to re-do the Monster GoBots (and especially if they throw in the different recolours, too). It's funny, but I think the only blue robot toy that has ever had the colour come out consistently throughout the decades has been the Voltron Blue Lion. You look at characters like Ultra Magnus, Blurr, Tank, Cy-Kill, and the like, and their blues are all over the damn' place throughout the years. The worst case probably has to be G1 Thundercracker, who ranged from a really dark navy blue all the way to pale powder blue in his various incarnations. (And that's not even counting the times he was a 1990s neon rainbow explosion. Or green.)
I loved those mechas in anime or tokusatsu. If I remember correctly, it was hard for me to determine from the Machine Robo toys as to who are the heroes and villains because the factions do not have any insignia unlike in the Transformers. As such, one of my aunts bought me a gobot that has a top hat that transform to something like a limo...and lost it from a flood in the late '90s along with my other toys and comics collections
On Eagle Robo by Action Toys he has the cartoon Leader-1 face under the mouth guard. Most ppl don't know because the mouth guard/mask is glued on. Mine dried up & fell off & when it did I said "hmmm look at tht." I find it interesting they added tht American toon face but then glued the Japanese/toy plate over it. Not sure why but interesting.
Found out about these a few months back. Thought about collecting them but I'm going to pass. I'm already collecting the vintage ones at a very slow pace. Picking them up whenever I come across a good deal.
Do you happen to know where you found out about them? I saw them in a picture or convention video but it is driving me crazy finding no more info about them
@@tydiriumhanger1320 Sorry, I can't help you with that. I came across them in a store that sells toys and modelkits a few months back. I never knew these existed before that.
I have the first 4-6 of the these. Wanted to collect them all but life happened and had to enter a selling phase. I think I was able to avoid selling these though.
I have all the Action Toys Machine Robo figs except Tough Trailer and Rod Drill, and I love both the aesthetic and the complexity they put into their figures. The Megahouse figures seem plainer and more simplistic in terms of their transformations, but I think they're trying to skew closer to the original MR toys which were very simple, at least the earlier waves; they gained a little more complexity in later waves, but never achieved the complexity of Takara's Diaclone figs. I 'm saddened that Action Toys pulled the plug, especially before releasing Supercar Robo (Turbo for the Gobots fans), as his was one of the first prototypes shown. I had high hopes that Harrier Robo might get a figure from them as well, but unfortunately, it seems the ship has sailed and Megahouse are now taking over the brand. More's the pity for AT fans, but at least Machine Robo toys continue to find an audience.
I'm was out on Action toys because of the Bike Robo off color. I'm out of this line too, it's too model-ly to me and no diecast. Megahouse is a good Anime toy company, more like XTB than FTs/Bandai. Finally Fitor is my fav and the Wings are missing the chrome...I'm Out. Honestly, why can't a company just Remake/KO the old toys in a bigger better scale, ala Action Toys Voyager size Cykill.
Nice comparisons, but I actually think the Action Robo designs look so much better than what Gobot cartoon accurate would be.
Yes a lot of collectors do like the stylized designs and a modern take
I agree. These new ones seem fine though.

GoBots would be the ideal line to release in legends scale. Would love to see what New Age and Iron Factory could do with them.
Heck yes they would be cool but I would be happy with MOTU origins style to look like vintage and just add articulation
Tough Trailer is Tough Trailer. He was a Japanese exclusive character. He never got a GoBot release.
They all sold out once then more were put up but that goes to show the power of main characters
I could see Gobots making a comeback in the USA. They didn't use guns. Just those hand beams. Thanks for this update / comparing the two toy lines.
I would in full support of any company making Gobots especially at retail

Cool take and it is exciting to get modern takes on Gobots then and now
I learned later in life most of the gobots were good guys in machine robo.

If the "Leader-1" figure comes out looking as good as the "Cykill" figure did, I'm in.
I hope so and I also hope there is enough support for this line so they can make more characters than action toys
I still need to see the Trailer for the original Tough Trailer, since it looks like Optimus's Trailer!
Oh my gosh. Turbo and Leader-1 is off the hook. If they get scooter this is going to be crazy!
I hope they give us more than the first 3 they have shown
@@tydiriumhanger1320 Same here. The mega house is on my radar thanks to you. Keep up the great work.
I pre-ordered the larger Action Robo Cykill to get the Cykill faces and it didn't come with any of the Cykill faces. I was sorely disappointed by it.
That really sucks did he at least have the I NEED TO SHAVE face?
I had the same issue! No shave face. :(
That space shuttle ....... makes me wonder if action toys was related to FansProject because it looked very similar to their decade old blast off figure that went with the energon bruticus type figures.
A transformer named go bots says he likes the color pink.
Great info Mike. Where did you pre order these?

That tank robot was called :”Tank” in the Gobots line💁🏻♂.

I think these look great... Machine Robo is cool...
Looks good. I actually like that orange "Grapple" Bot. Space-C looks good too. Thanks!
There are some gems in the older action toys line and I hope to get them all in this new line
Damn, Turbo looks amazing!
Sadly that was the Action Toys version which appears to be canceled
I would have ordered that one but never saw it up for preorder or even a review so Guess it was cancelled
KFC Toecutter is the most MP-ish Cy-Kill.

I always wondered what the story of Turbo was because I never saw preorders
Pretty good not too bad
Looks to be a solid line of Gobots
I like the Cykill . leader 1 doesn't really look like him.
I am interested in seeing what the Guardian figures will look like
The Action Toys figures are not stylesied gobots because they were NEVER meant to be gobots in the 1st place
True they are going for Machine robo Revenge of Cronos but we the Gobots collectors will take what we can get and complain a bit LOL
15:25 voyager scaled?!?!? Seem more like deluxe to me. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
True Guess I keep wanting more MP scaled than they really are
Please let this be Machine robo Machine build Eagle Robo

KO OS vintage toys to 8 inches or so with added articulation would be awesome!
No scooter?
Not yet but if this line is supported it may continue
I don’t like kits, they feel cheap and low quality so i hope they aren’t like that. I do have the bike robo, Cy-Kill, on preorder so i hope it’s good
It seems to be only a small amount of assembly so The rest should be solid
GoBots
Heck yes!
