Good review. You have to calibrate the first one every time? Oh boy. Outside of that, I like the first one. Hey on a side note…your comment on my last video was one of about 4 I couldn’t reply to. TH-cam didn’t like the comments I got that mentioned specific brands, model numbers, links, etc. Appreciate your comments and suggestions! Thanks for doing this review.

Yes, it ends up needing calibrated each time I turn it on. Probably because conditions are different each time I turn it on I've gotten used to it honestly. Feel it's more accurate that way anyway. Thanks for watching, much appreciated!

Yeah, it's a pain fumbling around in the lumber yard with AAA batteries and the battery cover. Calibrating to the environment every time makes sense, but they really could have made a long press of the density button enter the calibration mode.

@@timbervisions hi, to clarify, do you have to calibrate it every time it's turned on if you're in the same location only a few moments a part? Meaning, if you're in home Depot or something, and it turns off, does it need to be calibrated again?

@@adamthewoodworker2571 I can't recall how low it stays on before it shuts down, but if you turn it on and it reads zero after it's been calibrated it is still good to go in my experience. Calibration mostly has to do with surrounding conditions when it comes on so if in the same store or it is a few min between on the same day. The calibration should still be valid in my experience. Thanks for watching!

How do you calibrate the new one that has pins?

    • @timbervisions

It is automatically calibrated if it is kept at the temperature that is being used. If memory serves it needs to be at the temperature for 15 or 20 minutes to be accurate. Hope this helps.

Also, do you think the pinless one would be a good choice to trying to measure the moisture in 4X4 studs ?

I think it would work very well for that. Fast and does not mark it up.
