I haven’t used and tested them extensively. The one with prongs seems to have a little more flexibility for other uses. However, the more expensive unit appears to have the better sensor technology that can penetrate further in. But both are good units that can give you a good idea.

I’ve been eyeballing that sander for a long time. No swirl marks with it? That’s the only thing that has scared me away from that or similar styles
