Reorganizing at the wood lot before winter. Whether we like it or not, WINTER IS COMING

    Many good, valid points for people to consider before buying a machine. I always tell people (and you did address this) first and foremost, what do you want to use the tractor to do? To me, once you figure out the chores that you want to do, THEN you can start deciding what size you think you'll need. A lot of people base the size of their machine on how large their property is. I think that's ass-backwards. Again, for me, it all comes down to what do you want to accomplish with the machine, and then you can figure out what frame size, HP etc. Good video Tim!

    Cool setup, just curious why you wouldn’t just put the bucking table next to the splitter it self?

    • @timbervisions
      @timbervisions 3 วันที่ผ่านมา

      That's a great question. I buck up enough to fill the staging table. When the staging table is full it's enough wood to fill a 1/3 cord bag. Sometimes I need to buck up more than a table's worth to fill the staging table. That's why I do it this way. Plus then the table is right next to the splitter and I can easily just grab a round rather than going to the other end of the bucking table since the bucking table is 8 foot long. Hope that makes sense. Thanks for stopping in and asking a question. Greatly appreciated

    Good vid Tim! I need to start doing something to get my firewood and firewood drying area ready for Winter. I'm about out of the first 30 IBC's that I've bought, and I don't know that I want to buy another trailer load. I've probably wrecked 6 or 8 of the IBC bases when moving them, because I still have a hard time seeing my pallet forks when moving them around. I don't want to continue spending 30.00 each on them if I'm just going to continue ruining them. I'm thinking that I may start buying some of those blue or black plastic pallets that I see for sale on marketplace for 5.00 each, and then try using the bags that you're using. I think I'd be less likely to ruin the bags when moving them, and plastic pallets (I would think) would be pretty durable. So, if I did that, I'd hopefully have something that would last longer, and it would also eliminate having to stack the firewood, which sounds like a HUGE plus to me. I'm going to have to figure out something quickly. Nice work on the video!

    Squirrels and rats love plastic. I had some 20+ yards of wire under a ground level deck consumed by rats. A few inches of wire on 120v lighting eaten by squirrels - it was probably thankful the lights were off at the time. Also I don't know why in the world they put the motor at the bottom there is no logical reason whatsoever I mean even the lines are long enough to where it could be up top. If they say it's so you can fold it up my question is has anyone ever folded it up ? It takes too long to get the tracking right to risk it. If range road is reading this thank you for making an affordable conveyor for us who don't have the means or can justify spending 15 k so thank you it has been tremendously helpful to me but I am begging you to get me access to a chain conversion kit. My belt is all chewed up i can't keep it tracking now for more than 5 minutes and I have reached out to dealers from nh to Pennsylvania and can not get one. I guarantee if you have a thousand conversions made and send out a notice that they are available to every customer you sold one of these to you would be out of stock before they got off the freighter. But once again thanks again for making it possible for us to have a conveyor . One other thought is to have a longer option as a lot of us small timers are limited on space and want to go higher because we don't have the space to go out.

    • @timbervisions

      @patrickhuston8286 I've wondered that as well about the motor. All industrial conveyors I've dealt with in my line of work have the motor on the top. Yes if you’re hooking and unhooking the trailer more often. I heard you say you have a battery in the box and I see the little solar panel on there. What is that battery being used for? I have a cargo trailer that is quite heavy and has stabilizer jack stands. I have to go up and down with the tongue of the trailer 5 times to hitch it up! Because, I have a load leveling hitch. I put on one of the harbor freight 12v jacks. Wasn’t that expensive and I put alligator clips on it so it doesn’t stay live when not in use. ✌️

      @user-px3ml2ge4g so when the jack is geared down as much as this one is, it takes a lot of cranks to go that little bit. You can barely see the jack move with each rotation. With the excrank drill attachment, this goes a lot faster. As I stated in the video, my previous trailer jack, this wasn't an issue. This jack is geared way down. Each crank is a fraction of an inch movement in the jack. Hope that makes more sense as to the usefulness of this attachment.

    Good to see! I JUST did a couple of updates to my bucking table yesterday afternoon, because like you, I don't cut a lot in the Summer months. But cutting time is near, and I want all of my stuff ready to rip when it's "go time"! I'll actually be doing some cutting this weekend. Ya, it looks like the saw is cutting well for you, and apparently you know how to put an edge on a chain, because your chips looked good.

      On my stump grinder I put my hydraulic hoses inside bigger rubber hoses to keep them from rubbing holes in them. Then ziptied all 3 of them together. A little time now can save a whole lot of money and headaches later. Those don't look like they are in any danger of doing that though.

  • @JeffGeorgalas
    @JeffGeorgalas หลายเดือนก่อน

    I really have no idea if you were right or wrong the first time, as I've never even had a hydraulic top link (although I'm about to get one), and I'll bet that Richard Smyth is probably right. But I'll also bet that it's more important in HIS situation than it was in yours. Our "little" tractors can only lift about 3,500lbs. (on mine, and probably a little less on yours). I don't know that we'll be able to pick up heavy enough implements to do any real damage to the top links. On something like his, where you mentioned that he's working with 400HP machines, they'll probably lift 3 X what ours lift on the 3pts, so it's probably more important that he gets his right than it is in our situations. Who knows? Maybe I'm wrong about that too though. And if there is a correct way to put them on, I'd just as soon do it correctly. Good video Tim!

    • @timbervisions
      @timbervisions หลายเดือนก่อน

      I agree Jeff. Better safe than sorry. Ground engaging implements can put more pressure on that top link than they are able to lift as well. I think that is where it is a little more important. Also when the base side is out like I originally had it installed, the hoses have to move when the top link is extended and contracted. I can see where this would cause more wear on the hoses compared to stationary at the base towards the tractor side. Always good to hear your input Jeff.

    We have a hearthstone. Generally, I clean the stovepipe and honeycomb after burning a cord of seasoned hardwood. They burn so clean with that catalyst that you don’t get much soot in the pipe if you run it hot a couple times per week for a few hours

    Got mine yesterday and all put together, here's my thoughts (short term) it wasn't too bad to put together but my God put some updated instructions in the damn create! Yes you can print off some but the pictures in some cases left me guessing. I wasn't missing anything, not even a washer and it was a good idea of the bots being attached to the different pieces so there wasn't guessing if you have the right bolts and nuts. I wish they used better. hardware, its all held together with maybe grade 4-5 hardware (wished they used grade 8) but I'll be spraying the entire machine down with Crown or Fluid Film spray to help with the rust. Some other things are some of the hoses seem to run in bad spots like the ones from the control levers to the rear pump, they go right over the rear jack handle so its difficult to crank up the jack. the needle valve is about useless so you have to feather the control lever or else the trough goes up violently. Wish they had support stands on the trough itself. The whole thing took me about 5-5.5 hours to put together and you will need 2 people to flip over the 2 trough pieces once they are bolted together and sit it on the conveyor and line everything up. The chain was a PITA to install, it was getting caught up in all the framing and hoses trying to run it from front to back and what I did (being by myself) was ran the chain top and bottom, got it as tight as I could (both ends were basically in the middle of the trough) then used a large wrench to put in between the chain and end of trough to keep the chain from rolling back then that gave me enough stretch to put the chain together then had to tension the chain up quite a bit and made sure they were equal measurements on both sides. Then, I put in all the fluids (about 2.5 gallons of hydraulic fluid total and about 3/4 of a quart of engine oil) and after some oopp's on my part it fired right up and ran great. Fully extended I bet it's 11-12ft tall if not a bit higher. This will save me a lot of time and glad it goes as high as it does so I can stack wood up very tall. Listen, it's not a Wolfe Ridge or Eastonmade but its not 13k either but there is definite room for improvement!

      I consider the price point and for that it's not too bad. Mine has been ticking right along filling bags for me. Starts every time I pull it. Yes, I need to watch the belt tracking, but I know this so it's no big deal for the price. If I paid 4xs the price for it, I would be angry, but I didn't.
