Thank you very much, this worked for me because like an idiot I set up this password 4 years ago and thought the drive might work in a new build without any issues. Context - I had an old laptop 2.5inch SSHD that had a master access password set (guess who did it?). It had Ubuntu and Windows 10 dual booted...I reset the bios passwords in the old laptop and wiped clean the hard drive with the help of linux live cd to NTFS. Voila ! everything worked in new PC.

Bruh..my hdd was in an enclosure but after i put a disk lock it wont work again...is the problem arise due to disk lock.the disklock is from the enclosure
so, I got a RMA replacement HDD from WD and I'm getting this I/O error when I try to initialize it. I haven't checked the disk in the BIOS but I can't imagine it would have a password on it when it came as a replacement drive from WD. I'll give it a try though and I tell you what if it works then you are the absolute GOAT because I haven't been able to figure anything out yet, I'm ready to RMA this RMA replacement HDD.
@@CanalDeTH-cam0 kind of, meaning I didn't fix it I had to RMA the replacement drive. If your drive is showing this error there is nothing you can do about it, the drive is dead. The good news is Western Digital did accept the RMA and actually sent me a brand new drive as a replacement.

have you tried running rufus on it but try installing the command prompt on it? if you cant install it ,try running cmd from an outside ext drive or vice versa on the drive.. use drvpart.

You might be trying to access the hard drive through front port of usb try to plug it into montherboard usb ports It worked for me i was having the same problem

I have a bare bones basic bios On my Compaq cq60 I had windows 7 32 bit running It was a 250 gig hard disk with 2 partitions Since it was a fresh install my c drive was full so I decided to use easeus recovery to extend the partition It was going well and after shrinking my second partition to extend my c drive it Showed the usual progress bar Then it rebooted a few times and showed no os installed I thought it probably bricked my os so o decided to get my win7 installer again and it got stuck in the windows logo Then I had a win10 1709 usb which didn't get stuck in the logo and showed the entire drive as unallocated And it wouldn't let me format or fox teh hard drive bcs it kept giving me I/0 error redundancy cyclic something I got a live Linux OS running on a usb and Linux helped me recover some of my data But Linux couldn't format the drive So I decided to use the hard disk test from the bios and that failed immediately Any help would be appreciated (I'm currently running Linux on a 32 gig memory card and it is extremely slow I was hoping if I can get some help)
Hello Samson Santhosh, The incident is tragic, I will try to give you a solution anyway. You try to separate the hard disk from the laptop and if possible enable that hard disk as a secondary hard disk in another desktop computer then copy the necessary data of your hard disk first with Windows XP. Then you will partition your hard disk anew, but you will have to go a different way to partition. The different approach is this - You need to take a Windows XP disk and take out the primary hard drive of that desktop and keep your hard drive as the primary hard disk then start installing Windows XP and once it starts you will be able to go to the partition area then from there you will be able to partition your hard drive again Can be used. what actually happened later that day i hooked the drive to another laptop via USB and an external power source ..When i turned the laptop on and checked the drive thru windows explorerer it showed up as e drive and I formatted it in xfat . then i reformatted in ntfs .Then i downloaded a windows insider Os .A week later after getting tired of the Windows updater not working right and running on restricted windows 10 over the product key issues ...I installed Chrome OS and haven't haad a damn bit of problems since. My theory to that problem was the RAW files were not being recognized by the windows 10 os and therefore in the add remove programs page The Linux and legacy boxes were not checked ..so that may have been the whole problem on my end.
You may encounter this problem when you change Windows. Because the program files of the previous Windows may not be supported in the new Windows. That's probably what happened. I think so.

Hey, cool video... I tried this approach.. But wiping is taking 3-4 days for my 1tb HDD... I can never complete it. I tried partition recovery and other stuff.. Did not work out.. How long does it take to wipe the hdd

I think you can restore the previous partitions with the help of Partition Recovery software.

what actually happened later that day i hooked the drive to another laptop via USB and an external power source ..When i turned the laptop on and checked the drive thru windows explorerer it showed up as e drive and I formatted it in xfat . then i reformatted in ntfs .Then i downloaded a windows insider Os .A week later after getting tired of the Windows updater not working right and running on restricted windows 10 over the product key issues ...I installed Chrome OS and haven't haad a damn bit of problems since. My theory to that problem was the RAW files were not being recognized by the windows 10 os and therefore in the add remove programs page The Linux and legacy boxes were not checked ..so that may have been the whole problem on my end.
You may encounter this problem when you change Windows. Because the program files of the previous Windows may not be supported in the new Windows. That's probably what happened. I think so.

Sometimes it happens that the relationship of the disk motor with the circuit board attached to the hard disk becomes lighter. I mean you open that circuit and see if there's any dirt. This is the solution. Please try again. Thanks
