- Hope you guys enjoy! A very cool retrofit system with some of the original notification appliances. These are white simplex 2903-9102 strobe plates with mostly Wheelock AS. There were also a few 2901-9806s. Some of the building was older with a few 4050-80s and a 4903-9102 light plate. Unfortunately I wasn't able to get any footage of the 4050-80s going off. The only one I did record during alarm didn't work

So white 2903s are real??? I made a model out of one ages ago and used it on a homemade system and all that time until now I thought 2903 light/strobe plates only came in red. Good to know that I learn new stuff everyday

My school has them, should I grab them before they destroy the school ? It’s abandoned but I went as a child

I hope somebody fixes up the 4050-80 instead of replacing it entirely. Congrats on finding white 2903s btw!
Heck of a system right there! I sure hope all the devices _(especially_ the 4050-80-series & 2903-series plates) are saved someday.

Quite the Frankenstein system. I guess that's what happens when a building does upgrades bit by bit instead of one massive upgrade.
That and when the programming is suboptimal

Very cool White 2903s! Why put a bright Wheelock AS on some? They're still kind of cool though. I think I also heard a Wheelock NS or System Sensor SpectrAlert Classic and Gentex Commander 2 or 3
You sort of answered your own question: because ASes have strobes that are far brighter than those on 2903-series strobe plates & thus meet current ADA requirements for brightness.
@@TheCarson116 Yeah for sure. These Wheelock AS horn strobes were even set on 110CD (according to the pictures) which is super bright! It's still pretty bright on 75CD.
@@aidanthetoiletelevatorfire7554 Honestly I'd say that modern fire alarm strobes are plenty bright on just 15CD! Keep in mind though that not all of them may have been set on that candela: there are specific candela settings for specific applications & locations.
@@TheCarson116 Yeah, it is plenty bright on 15CD, it's just kind of hard to see the strobe from far away in a large room at that setting. It's also very hard to see if say the alarm was mounted way too high above the ground. It's probably still plenty of light at 30CD.

I dont understand. Why did they replace half the system with wheelock crap and not truealerts. Would sound alot better. Or would also work with est genesis
see theres this thing called a distributorship and in this case the company that one the bid for the replacement had a wheelock distributorship and used what wheelock had at the time which was the AS

Looks like you are the new SafeTech then when it comes to doing inspection videos since I am pretty sure he isn't gonna post his videos anymore since it's been a while but it is what it is. Any chance you could go back to that school with the 4051s and do a more in-depth video of it with the horns in full alarm rather than them just being in test mode and go around the school? No? Worth a shot.
Looks like they are the older "B2" version. Looks like the older version at 6:08.
I swore one of the alarms is from the Gentex commander series, either the commander 2, 3 or 4.
There were a few commander 4s in the weight room

Definitely a very interesting system retrofit. No idea why they have two big panels for just covering one wing per panel or why they decided to paint the 2903 plates white. As for the panel situation, why was a silent knight panel installed when a 4100ES was there and perfectly capable of handling everything? Was a different company there at one point? Was it supposed to be the real master panel and the 4100ES was just installed as the school switched providers? Also, i refuse to believe simplex retrofitted that system. Simplex forces anyone who wants to be a tech for them to get factory training for the hardware and programmer.
Ik fix the 80 and horn new bulb and turn nut on horn and 4903 9102s are the best

I think the panel was set to continuous. Some alarms were self coding themselves to code 3.
I don’t think I’ve ever seen a color mix before, like… red speaker-strobe fire alarms being placed onto white strobe-only plates… I mean… who even does that… I think it’s interesting… or something… Idk.
