Testing Fire Alarms in the Fire Station
Fire Alarm Test 123
This video is very cool as it was filmed in an active fire station. The system installed is an EST 3 with edwards peripherals. EST 3 panels are very good panels. I was impressed by their card management system.

Fire Alarm Test 121 This is a very cool system installed in an elementary school. The main panel is a simplex 4002. However, rather than adding more nacs to the 4002 they for whatever reason opted to install a 4009 booster power supply below the 4002. As a result, half of the building does continuous and the other half does code 3 which is kind of cool sounding. Chapters: 00:00 Intro 00:12 Dete...

Pretty cool system for this one. This is one of the last simplex systems left in this school district. The only ones are this building, the 4020 building I uploaded a few weeks ago, and a 4002 system (Stay Tuned). This was originally a simplex 4002 panel however it was replaced with a 4007es panel when the building was added on to. They left all of the original devices intact, and the addition ...

This is a pretty cool early 2000s school. The system is still original from when the building was built besides the portables. I believe there were some dates on the pull stations that said they were from 2008. The system consists of a Gamewell 610 FACP (unfortunately not shown in the video) and Gamewell century pull stations with the key reset attachments. One of them in the main lobby had a d...

Fire Alarm Test #116 | Siemens Mechanical Horns

This is another middle school in the same district as the last few tests. The panel was originally a harrington HS-3400 as can be seen by the mechanical horn strobes in the building. The odd thing about that replacement, is they used a silent knight IFP panel that had integrated voice evac hardware even though it ...

It would be cool if voice evac systems could send walk-test messages, such as "Detection appliance type address 14 pull station is fully functional," when you pull a pull station on address 14.
But I love EST!
I saw titanic’s watertight doors close
I saw titanic’s watertight doors close
That’s a perfect system test
My town’s fire station has a Siemens system from 2003 with the Siemens mechanical horn/strobes you have recently shown on your channel. For some reason, my area has/had several Siemens systems from the early 2000’s with mechanical horn/strobes. Also, I think EST is underrated, especially with their newer stuff. They aren’t my favorite, but I certainly like them more than Honeywell. Also (again lol), I find it funny that a fire station has a voice system. Out of all people, you would think they would need the least guidance in an emergency. The only reason I can think of for this is that maybe they are also using the speakers as a paging/fire call system.
Is this a Fire station in Massachusetts because this is the MA 900 Hertz tone
@@FireAlarm-ni8lf no
That’s the exact same alarm that my middle school had
If the fire alarm goes off in there then the station will respond to itself
THERE LOCATED
I love this tone! I heard it in a video YEARS ago and haven’t since. It’s weird to me that the system starts up in the middle of the message, though.
Beep beep beeeeep Attention Attention, and emergency has been reported in the building, _please_ cease operation and leave the building utilizing the nearest exit or fire exit.
Very awesome! 😊
I honestly used to be not a big fan of the EST3 thanks to the experience of my old middle school’s system, but after some time working on it, the system actually turned out to be pretty awesome. I actually recently even got access to the 3-SDU and have used it to program an EST3X for my office’s demonstration bench.
Who asked
Why in the hell does a fire station need fire alarms. The fire dept is already there!!! Just get a few smoke detectors.
A fire station is still technically a protected premises and those kinds of buildings are required to have that level of fire protection.
Fire alarms like this are kinda just smoke detectors but better, better ways to find the alarm, test them, etc.
Also if the building is big, you don't know which smoke alarm activated, and all they do is beep or not beep. Less advanced in a building bigger that a standard house.
Dumbest shit i’ve read today
It's required by law
That’s a pretty uncommon variant of code 3, cool to hear that!
Nice code 3 tone
Cool! Haven't seen a lot of EST Systems on your channel though they're still quite common.
Oh, is this one of those school Simplex systems where they put regular horn/strobes in the hallways and large areas and they put mini-horns of some kind in the classrooms? I've seen quite a few 1990s school Simplex fire alarm systems set up that way.
Some of the buildings at my college had those pull station ADA-extension adapters. When they replaced the original Standard Electric Time pull stations with Faraday F1GT Chevrons and Fire-Lite/Notifier BG-12s. The Student Union still has some left, but the other buildings have since upgraded to new devices installed in different locations.
He's displing simplex
Can i have fire alarm and keys
I assume the panel is either a 4100 or 4020.
@@Dranfusion 4010
A spectralert classic iconic horn strobe but piezo horns sound best on code 3.
My middle school had these and unfortunately still dies almost 20 years later. Luckily the classrooms and the gym ones got replaced with Wheelock MTs
I honestly prefer 9838s and 9833s doing march time. 9806s are high pitched and I prefer lower pitched horns
You have too much knowledge about fire alarms my friend
@@mikumiku2202 which is not bad
@@bjthedjdutchdude1992 are you trying to say they both are good? if so I kinda agree
The SpectrAlert Classics should be on code-3 just like the one isolated one that's on temporal 3, not continuous which either sounds like a factory error where they made a huge batch of these devices set to continuous high volume instead of Code-3 high volume which is a code violation and a fail unless of grandfathered codes apply it
@@joeycaridi3030 completely incorrect 3 times in one comment
Joey, what code are you referring to?
@@qu.richards Continuous and Code-3
Why are there exit signs by the floor?
when smoke is thick and you need to crawl
^^^ Im not sure what the exact code is or if its required by code but its done more often in hotels
Neat video! I see a lot of continuous horns in my area because they didn’t require temporal 3 until fairly recently. My school district’s office has continuous horns. That system is a Simplex 4007ES with electronic 4903 horn/strobes in most of the building and SmartSync TrueAlert horn strobes in a renovated part.
I want to see this put on a DVC in a real building, even if it's just for one video
"That thing's loud" "BLEGH"
6:27 trick shot!
These have to be loud on continuous!
I wear my AirPods as earplugs and it isn’t too bad
@ I have AirPods too! That’s definitely something I will try I can use them as earplugs
Nice Schindler Elevator! The exit signs are mounted so low! Why continuous tho? That strobe skipping is legendary
Why not on continuous?
Classics on continuous
big ow
How about spectralert advances on continuous
@@LoneStarFireAlarms Just as bad
@@All_ConsumingBandu i think advances are worse on continuous imho
You are right. A few years ago I had a customer request I switch the whole system to continuous. It took me 5 days. It was a hotel and they use the fire alarm to wake up late checkout guests.
My Favorite Modern Day Fire Alarms Are System Sensor L Series P2RLs And P2WLs
First intro riding a Schindler elevator
I like Spectralert Classics as these are one of my favorite modern alarms
They aren’t really modern anymore. They’re actually 90s alarms.
@@NighTMare-gv8gzthey still considered modern to me
Horns have a noticeable skip to them every time the strobe flashes. Might be because of the sync commands sent by the panel.
Yeah on continuous but someday the district office fire alarm system will be replacing with speaker strobes with code 3 tone and slow whoop tone
classic 👌
what did i just watch O.O
i wonder how much americium is in those smoke detectors :0
Is that a 9838 in the gym?
0:37 It's not just fire alarm devices, remember the spaghetti tutorial?
it’s like you’re at a vocational school for hoarders faculty included
I personally think the 270-SPO is better because nothing falls out when the pull station is opened
Is it the 9104 that's ceiling mount? I can't find any other information on the vertical-strobe or ceiling mount versions of the 4903-9101
Yes the ceiling mount model is 4903-9104
Why didn’t the alarms go off with the smoke detectors
Yeah I was confused too
That is very unique that some are on the ceiling
