I love this video. It completely explains my son’s experience at age 7. He changed after that and became depressed, fearful, and later could never follow through with anything. He struggled through life and became an addict.
Now, at age 36, after completing a degree, he slipped back into addiction, tried different career paths, and is now bedridden with mold and Lyme diseases and possibly autoimmune encephalitis. He’s in constant pain and doesn’t see a way out.
At almost 68, I’m his caregiver and have no life outside of him. I have a broken arm and had to retire because of chronic illnesses myself, got autoimmune diseases, and awful things from breast implants and mold toxicity, but now I have 6 infections of Lyme coinfections.
Life certainly sends us curve balls!🙏🙏🙏

A very good overview dear Dr Solomon. I waited to hear all that you say & my wait was worth it. To me, it seems that I’m one of those very few who completely recover & I hope that indeed is the case. As a Doctor, after being given permission, I have looked after my patients in my full clinical role for over 6 months & also my Trainer-role looking after a Trainee’s needs & teaching her in regular Tutorials. I hope it continues. Thank you.

They found nothing in my lumbar puncture nor blood tests, but later I was finally diagnosed with a Parkinson's like autoimmune neuro encephalitis brought on by dorment west nile and Lyme disease and mono that I was originally infected with back in 2003

12 years ago my husband fought a pretty intense fight against encephalitis. From hallucinations to seizures to an evental coma. After 4 months of hospitalization he came home!! He is a part of a VERY lucky group who had minimal long term side effects. He still gets dizzy when his head tips back, but even this is something he has adjusted to.
My question is , how was he never given a cause? Is this common? We are lucky enough to live in Canada so he received every test imaginable, but still to this day we have never had an answer. It's always been something we have wondered.

Hi Jessie, thank you for your comment and I am so sorry to hear of your husband's encephalitis 12 years ago. It is good to hear that he has made a good recovery with minimal outcomes.
It can actually be fairly common never to be given a diagnosis of the cause. For some people it is not possible to identify a cause of the inflammation, especially after the acute event has passed. I hope this answer has been helpful, but support@encephalitis.info are always here to answer your questions in more detail. We are here for you.

Please help bring the Enterovirus 71 vaccine to the US. The virus is here! My husband (36) was in a long coma from this and will never be the same. We are in IN and have connected with multiple families via social media across the Midwest impacted by HFM in this way. Daycare providers have no idea that Hand Foot Mouth can be fatal! We need the vaccine and education. I’m begging for help on this, as a 36 year old near widow, now care taker and mother of 2 babies/toddlers.

There was no acyclovir out when I had encephalitis in 1977. It only came out 28 years ago. I have never had rehabilitation what-so-ever but I kept fighting and persevering by learning new things 'that I most probably should have known about sooner' but never mind. I was always referred to as a 'little fighter' and when I was regularly admitted to hospital with gran mals, the staff there used to say 'look how brave she is', 'God she's so brave'. This was when I was on a drip and/or having my EEG's nothing like that ever got to me.

Is there any cure for viral encephalitis caused by ebstain barr virus. My 4 years old cousin has recently been diagnosed with viral encephalitis. The doctor says there is no hope. He is currently in PICU.

    Hello Doctor,
Recently my wife died(29-May-21) after giving birth to a 2nd baby boy(5-May-21) (csection). MRI report says Acute Encephalitis in Aetiology. CSF fluid BIOFIRE test shows negative report for herpes virus. Then what can be the possibility of this inflammation? Still no answer to this question.😔
