So basically this technique is crappie fishing. I did this 30 years ago for crappie. So rig a bass sized bait and crappie fish heck probably catch a lot of big crappie also.

Tim, fyi, I notice a ton of TH-camrs apologizing for noise, there was nothing noticeable as far as your sound quality, and I understand your attention to detail, but you didn’t have any issues imo. It’s so interesting to fish with the “damiki rig” mainly because since I was a kid and throughout my decades of fishing, we always called it “ straight lining” and we would hit the ledges of Kentucky lake,or bluff walls on Dale Hollow and Cumberland lake, and straight line as we would drift from a perfect breeze, or very light use of the trolling motor.. and of course there wasn’t the electronics of today, but when we found the suspended bass it was like they were tuna 😂 of course there were far fewer fishermen and some years were lifetime memories. Excellent job breaking it down as always. Much respect ✊

Without knowing your situation, Id encourage you to try and snag a 14' aluminum boat for under 1000$. I def dont have a lot of money, but 500$ for a 15HP on a 14' Alumacraft (1958 ) and a bit of work, changed my life.

Question: reeling down over top of fish or below and coming back above letting the lure sit above. Why get a 12 inch slide high vis slip cork with stoppers stay back cast over, floating the bait in or above the bass? Hope it Make sense . Works on non active feeding fish.

I can see how it would be really effective with this technique though. I'll be fishing Bull Shoals in Arkansas for the next few months, it's a super deep (260+ ft) super clear highland reservoir, so this should work well there on suspending fish. There's seldom much need for lead of any kind in a pond. You CAN, but you probably SHOULDN'T. A weightless Fluke, Senko, or Magnum Finesse Worm will usually catch most all bass in ponds without the need for lead. These 3 lures cast as well as most weighted TX rigs, and the slow, natural fall is usually your best presentation in a pond. On the rare occasion you need more weight, a ¹/¹⁶ or ¹/⁸oz Slider, Spot Remover, or Shakey head is all you need.

Hook or jighead? Hook size depends on jighead size and lure size. Jighead size depends on lure size and desired depth/speed. Also, jighead size is determined by minnow (or shad) lure size. GENERALLY SPEAKING, ⅛, ³/¹⁶, or ¼ is best. ³/¹⁶ is a good place to start.
