I wear mine in a braid most of the time. It's just too long to leave loose and it gets everywhere. I've done all kinds of beadwork, but it takes a lot of effort. hahahaha I'm going to try the soul patch area braid, thanks for the idea dude.
I've got to say - THANKS for the insights... I'm seven weeks into my yeard and following your advice it's not been trimmed at all. Even the scragglers up on my cheeks that I would normally be tempted to "even out" and 'edge up' are perfectly naturaly. Without your insights what I have now would be radically different. Worse - what I hope to have in the months to come would have suffered from what my previous beard instincts would have had me done thus far. Your insights have given me the ability to see past what I have, in previous beards been frustrated by. Honestly, where you are now is pretty much what I have aspired to in years past. Bad self-trimming has always resulted in my giving up and simply cutting back to a very short (1/4 - 1/2") goatee which was always my fallback standard for the previous ten years. Now with a bit of your wisdom I believe that Oct 1 2017 will find me celebrating a spectacular Yeard. So - thank you, George.
I'm looking forward to being able to braid mine! Not quite there at 7.5". I too trimmed the sides early on........bearding regrets! But it'll get there!
I got to about 2 minutes in and said ok this is going to be fun hit pause to post this Hit play and got rubber bands and went along with the video. You're a great teacher. Thank you
It's much easier to braid hair when it's still damp. The strands hold together better and you get a smoother look when the hair dries. You wont need to start the strands with 3 separate elastics and cutting them off. If you braid the beard while it's still damp, it's less wear n tear on the beard hairs. Braiding hair when it's dry is a pain in the ass.
I’m still working on growing mine out and like you did earlier I have trimmed the sides so now I’m just letting it grow out. It’s just now getting to my upper chest. Eventually I would like to braid it in some way. This video was very helpful 👍🏼👍🏼
Ive been growing my beard without any trims for over three years. Unfortunately it's at terminal length or growing slower than I can notice. Having never trimmed the sides, they naturally are shorter than the rest of the beard, so if my experience is at all the norm, don't beat yourself up about trimming the sides. They seem to have less potential for length in my experience. As far as ways I wear my beard, I usually do a bun when working, or multiple hair tie ponytail. I usually avoid braiding because it creases my beard too much if I want to take it out later and not have to put alot of work in. I wish my hairs were like yours, mine are so curly, they just lock up with each other over the course of the day(esp throat area!) Keep up the good work!
My beard is just shy of a year old and finally getting to a length where I have some options for adornments and braids. Just put in two beard rings for the first time.. love the look but more difficult than I thought it would be. I think I’m going to try the soul patch idea with some smaller rings. Thanks for the video and the tips brother. Subbed.
Beginner grower here. I love your beard George. I'm looking to go for a viking look. ie. longer beard with beads and adornments. I can't wait till I get there.
Havent trimmed mine since I started growing it from shaved 3 years ago. The different lengths are killing me. My soul patch has never grown longer than 2 inches but most of it is 11+ and my mustash does not get over 4.
Nice. I do it all the way around though. My hair is pretty dark (not black, but a VERY VERY intense brown) And instead of doing big braids, I often do some little ones. One coming from each sideburn. One in the middle of the soulpatch and two short ones on each end of the mustache. Then I make it look nice with rings... I know i know, but i like it. Plus, I look kinda like a viking or a dwarf from lord of the rings.
I have trouble putting beads on.. one site perfect.. and the other one is just.... meh... but I do love my beads.. I hope that I will get good at it some day
Great toot Geo .. am at 10in after 28months .. and have trimmed hair and slow growth that sticks out that makes my beard look untidy..for now. Say no to a beard trim!
I wanna try side braids with beads and leave the rest. Haven't done anything yet but it's long enough for some small braids. No mustache or patch tho cause my wife prefers a clear runway 😉
I wish I could force myself to get past the scruffy phase of growing it out. It looks so bad at that point (3-5 inches) I always end up knocking the whole thing off and going for something else. Until I decide to try it again... I'm just doing the chin for now (your middle partition) sans mustache. It's about 4-5 inches so far (and mostly white, yipee). I've tried braiding before at around 8 inches or so but it didn't really seem to be long enough for it. I'm going to try going longer this time.
Gray Bailey I haven't trimmed my beard once and I feel as though I'm finally beyond all awkward phases. Especially with the sides. I give you alot of the credit for the growing and flowing. Peace.
that is a really great looking beard bro... i cant wait for mine to get that natural white color...question. have you ever used beads? how do you thread them? ever used a metal string threader? i simply twist and insert but now that my beard grew thicker it takes forever to bead fully.
ok yeah, you're my new hero. Do you have any advice for balding men who started shaving their head? I started about a month ago. So far so good but I do get a few bumps on my head. Any suggestions?
Just growing mine but don't grow tick at the sides also wanting the viking style beard can never get it to look right tho got the silver viking beads any advice?
I’m at 16 months again. This time I haven’t trimmed anything at all…… besides my mustache. I can’t seem to get the mustache right man, how do you do it?
In another of your videos, you cautioned against using rubber bands, as it would cause breakage of the beard hair. Are the bands you recommend in this video different? Are they safe to use? Thanks.
I know your post is old, but I think I have the answer. The bands he uses appear to be the same ones I've used which are actually a smooth silicone circular ribbon. They dont seen to break hair like rubber bands, but they do break down when exposed to jojoba oil.
I have for the past couple years come up with a style I haven't seen as of yet. I'd like to think I came up with it but not sure. Would like to share it with you and you tell me.
Here's the link to my tie up method... By the way do you think I could ever grow anything like what you have there? I'm going to get the VO5 purple to help keep the yellow out, but may try some of your products as well. th-cam.com/video/u0qP4x2mJDE/w-d-xo.html
I want to do Thor’s braided beard In avengers endgame but because I’ve had layers in my beard months ago I’m in the process of growing it out. Which is really annoying because my beard is at right length
Hello Gray, You have a most magnificent Beard dear Fellow. I could but only smile to see how another Beardsman (And, a Fellow `Whitey` too...) undertake what I`ve done each day over many years. A great job done too whilst looking into a cam. Delightful. Thank You.
Very good video.. im looking forward to braid my beard - it has been a year but my beard growing rate is not like yours :D sadly. and wow - the planes landing / starting - that you can hear them from your house. would make me go insane i think
Normally I'm against things in the beard. It's Christmas time so all of my friends keep sending me the tree ornaments or glitter in the beard shit. No. Way. However there is, to me, a huge difference between that goofy shit vs a Jack Sparrow or viking styled or accessorized beard. All about that stuff. Random beads or braids, go for it. George, check out the skulls and beads from Grimfrost. Cool stuff.
Since all the men of our gigantic community don't ever shave, there are many times you need to get the beard out of the way. Some, like one of my sons will fold the length of the beard into a light knot and twist the knot into the beard. It shows the face to be a full beard but not long below. During the minimum 3 times daily public prayers the beard must not be knotted or rolled so they unroll it. Its not unusual to see these guys with beard length down to the navel or more !
lol "no beard boners". gave me a good laugh, now you need some skull beads to put in there too that'll look pretty cool, I forgot if you do decide to put beads in could you do a video on how you put them in and keep them from falling out
Can u braid beard as thor's in avengers end game final fight
I wear mine in a braid most of the time. It's just too long to leave loose and it gets everywhere. I've done all kinds of beadwork, but it takes a lot of effort. hahahaha I'm going to try the soul patch area braid, thanks for the idea dude.
Love the big ol beard man. You got that viking look going on
Dude if thats a actual pic of u ur blessed with a great beard
You sir have a beautiful beard.
man you are the most majestic person i have ever seen, keep taking care of that hair and beard

Did you end up growing it?
I'm looking forward to being able to braid mine! Not quite there at 7.5". I too trimmed the sides early on........bearding regrets! But it'll get there!
I have watched this video several times. I have found it very helpful both for braiding and beading. Thank you.
I got to about 2 minutes in and said ok this is going to be fun hit pause to post this
Hit play and got rubber bands and went along with the video.
You're a great teacher.
Thank you
This is THE MOST MAGNIFICENT BEAR I have ever seen, I'm so jealous!

Always good to get a fresh perspective. Your years of know how are indispensable.
Im going for the viking look, Long hair, and a braided beard to match.
Bruh same, that scene in endgame was all I needed to convince myself to braid my beard
Nice One Gray, been watching a few of your videos, nice insights and solid beard banter!
Keep up the good work!
Love the idea of braided beards
You mention using hair gel but hair gel contains alcohol. Wouldn't that dry out the beard?

I have trouble putting beads on.. one site perfect.. and the other one is just.... meh... but I do love my beads.. I hope that I will get good at it some day

Take pics of your beard in the morning. Mine usually is standing straight out to the side.
I wanna try side braids with beads and leave the rest. Haven't done anything yet but it's long enough for some small braids. No mustache or patch tho cause my wife prefers a clear runway 😉
Two strand beard slowly. Ty

Love it 🖤 I'm definitely going for a braided beard
This is so glorious. I can't wait until I'm this length.
+Matthew Rowe Truly. I've never loved my beard more. Just good old fashioned length and proper care. That's it! Peace
Gray Bailey I haven't trimmed my beard once and I feel as though I'm finally beyond all awkward phases. Especially with the sides. I give you alot of the credit for the growing and flowing. Peace.

Beautiful beard!
Thanks a lot for making this video! :)
Thanks, cool stuff
I love braiding my beard so much, this video was part of my inspiration to get it long enough.
I want to do Thor’s braided beard In avengers endgame but because I’ve had layers in my beard months ago I’m in the process of growing it out. Which is really annoying because my beard is at right length

Are you a wizard? :o
Very good video.. im looking forward to braid my beard - it has been a year but my beard growing rate is not like yours :D sadly.
and wow - the planes landing / starting - that you can hear them from your house. would make me go insane i think
oh f*** santa claus!
Watching this with my pandemic beard.... I'm never shaving again.
That’s cool. Viking style
actually, a short braid nothing fancy
cutting the bands with that knife, you don't cutt any hairs?id be spooked of cutting any hairs.
that is so cool, thanks for the vid
A beard boner!!! 😆😆😆 Nearly fell off my chair when he said that!
Normally I'm against things in the beard. It's Christmas time so all of my friends keep sending me the tree ornaments or glitter in the beard shit. No. Way. George, check out the skulls and beads from Grimfrost. Cool stuff.
+Brian Bechtel Exactly. I'm with you on that. Peace
I fully plan on turning my beard into a Christmas tree for an ugly sweater party! lol
This is kinda crazy but you look almost exactly like my grandpa who passed away last year
NOOOOOOOOO , Now I will forever think of Beard Boner as the term when my Beard Sticks Straight Out >.<
Great Video.
Damn that knife made me uneasy.

I was a nervous wreck watching you cut those rubber bands. I was fearing a braid was going to be lopped off!!!!!!!
George, careful … at my age I'll take any "boner" I can get! Enjoy your content, always get a laugh and good info. Thx!
Ethnic community 😂
Money saving tip = loom bands.
Bad Ass 👍
beard with a few dreadlocks perhaps 😄
lol "no beard boners". gave me a good laugh, now you need some skull beads to put in there too that'll look pretty cool, I forgot if you do decide to put beads in could you do a video on how you put them in and keep them from falling out
Here's a hair cheat. Slide a bead in your beard and then put a small elastic right under it. Now the bead can't fall off.
Cool that's a good idea have to remember that for Halloween thank you buddy buddy :)
What is the ethnic community? All humans have an ethnicity ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
this must ruin your beard... to much pulling
T-the soul patch can be braided???
I'VE BEEN LIVING WRONG
No George! No! It's like putting clothes on a dog, unnatural and undignified! First time I've disagreed with your advice.
Hahahahahaha nope
My mastiff looks great in a tuxedo
or pull out hairs that i wouldnt pull out if i wasnt braiding it
