Just tried this on my 3.5 - 4 month beard, not done much for me unfortunately like other guys on here. I have salt and pepper beard, quite corse despite using dedicated beard shampoo/ conditioner, beard balm, beard oil, boar bristle brush etc. Must just be unlucky. Will try the coconut method again though in few weeks 👍

You can also you other methods of mixed oils and leave for 20 mins hot..no matter how just keep it hot for 20 mins...also try every week for a month and drink extra water per day in this time to see if your body has been laking water for beard health.

Could one do the same thing using their preferred beard balm or oil in place of the coconut oil?

George this is my favorite tip you've ever given. I tried this last night and it worked amazingly well. My six month beard felt SO WEIRD after taking the plastic off, all crunchy and strange. But after a cleanse and condition it really is so soft! Thanks for the tip. I have a reddish, very coarse, pretty curly beard, and this has been the best advice from you that I've taken!

Guys, after working the coconut oil into your beard and while you have the cap cover your whiskers, rub the oil from your hands onto the skin of your arms. As we get past 60, our skin starts drying up. This will help. And besides, you already have the oil in your hands. THANKS, GEORGE!

For some reason my chin grows slower than the rest. But im watching all your videos and think you're great. Coconut oil has too much protein in it and will break dryer beard hairs. It also is too comedogenic (clogs pores).
Pure jojoba oil is best. It doesn't clog pores and is the closest oil (it's really a wax) to natural human oils.
Pure argan oil is good too for really dry beards.

Thank you very much for your reply Gray! There are so many products that at times it seems overwhelming, but your homemade solutions and videos are a great help.
Now, something like beardbrand's beard softener or the brands you recommend are rather expensive to get for me, and honestly cannot justify the cost, so, if I understand you correctly, if I use a "regular" (read, "made" for the hair on the head) conditioner for co-washing, that would be an acceptable substitute of the real beard specific thing in your expert opinion? Maybe baby conditioner, for example? Arethere any DIY options perhaps? That could make a good video.

Hello again. Thank you for the reply. I need some advice again with your expertise please. I am headed to the beard championships in richmond va this year and i need some grooming advice. I really need my beard to be at its fullest potential. My beard is about 10 inches, but i notice a lot of my underbeard seems to curl up back towards my neck which i think takes away a bit of its density at the bottom. I want the bottom to be more full and i just wonder how to permanently train the hair underneath to hang straight instead of curling back up towards my neck. Thank you again.

Alternative for sensitive skin: Great video and a tip that I will definitely follow, but with a different oil. Coconut oil is comedogenic, meaning it can clog pores causing blackheads and blemishes. The comedogenic rating scale goes from zero to five, with zero being the least comedogenic and five being the most comedogenic. Coconut oil has a comedogenic rating of four. Some other oils have a comedogenic rating of zero: hemp seed oil, argan oil, shea butter, sunflower seed oil. Thanks for the channel, great content!

Interesting tip. Have I got a knee slapper for you, when I was first growing a beard at age 19, I didn't have any other oil accessible and so I went for the coconut oil. I melted it down and rubbed it into the beard, felt and looked great. Then I went outside (thinking it was a good idea) suddenly on the tram I give myself scratch (itch) ...and the coconut oil had solidified... doh! haha! And so there was a blizzard coming out of my beard. Obviously had to catch the tram home and quickly rinse it out and style again before meeting my date xD

Not sure where I went wrong here. I followed these instructions to a tee. After all was said and done, went out into 35 - 40°F dry weather and my beard froze stiff. When inside at room temperature, it just felt greasy and dirty. It took three washings before it felt right again. Maybe I got the wrong type of coconut oil. I have to heat it before using it because it's hard as a rock.

Cant say ive tried this method but I do put coconut oil in my beard once a week at bedtime and wash it out the next morning and that has worked great. Thanks for the tip!

When I use oil & massage it the beard hairs falls out ..

great video. I have an issue with my 7 month beard where the right side grows out more than left and curls under. to get it to be straight like yours do I need to cut to help it or use products

interesting... can you use liquid coconut oil? or does it have to be the solid form?

Hey Gray. I've been growing my beard for about 6 months. I wash my beard once a week, I use beard oil or beard balm daily but my skin underneath my beard is still itchy and flaky. Any advice to help get rid of that?

Michael Mineros 11 months late but this video literally will help. However make sure with the beard oil you’re getting it to the skin that will also help

Hi there! Should I use coconut oil at the day of the prom? I will be in a tuxedo and I heard it is quite hard to get the hair clean and not oily. Will it be great at the same day or rather not?
